Chapter 6

Andy then gives up, sitting down on the bed as he goes into the details of who they are and what they've done - something Carlos only thinks about when he comes over to tell her he's not coming back.

Andy tells her that it was Michel's father, Mr. Wallace, who convinced his best friend Mr. Simon - the father of Vengo and Charles - founded a family-run organization from the very beginning. They named their organization Black Roses.

However, they are not the only family that has decided to protect themselves from others. At the same time, two other families - Davies and Wilson have established themselves in the underworld.

And while they were powerful in themselves, they still couldn't compare to the strength that the Black Roses had displayed.

So they agreed to work with the Black Roses.

However, Michel's father knows that a simple peace treaty between the families will not prevent them from going behind their backs in the future, so he encourages stronger alliances.

Alliances are harder to break like marriage and children.

Mr. Wallace believed that if you were bound by blood, you would not easily overlook this fact and be bribed and corrupted by outsiders.

Andy went on to explain as Fanny sat there and listened carefully, her heart tightening as he told her how Michel's parents were killed in a fire caused by the Phoenix gang.

"And who exactly is the Phoenix gang?"

"They're our enemies. And not just ours, but also Davies and Wilson's. They're basically a subdivision of Y city, but they've acquired foreign recruits to take the right. force in X city. They want to work with us. But there's no way we're going to do that."

Fanny thought about this for a moment and was a little confused.

Maybe she doesn't know anything, but all these groups don't do the same things anyway, like stealing, killing, and pretty much anything else that could be considered illegal.

"Why don't you? I mean all the X city families. Why do you refuse to work with them? Is it because of Michel's parents?"

Andy's face stiffened there. Talking about the gang Phoenix is clearly making him angry.

"Mr. Wallace has turned down any work with them before. But I guess getting him killed by them only strengthens our position of never wanting to deal with them."

He watched a frown appear on her small face as if she was trying to understand it but failed to do so.

"Listen, it might not make sense to you right now, but we still have a code of ethics. It may not sound like it to you but we do. Our work is not aimed at it. into children and we don't involve women if we can help it. This is not something the Phoenix gang can say. They engage in human trafficking and look for school districts to deal with drugs. We don't do that." He pointed out with deft fingers.

Almost unwilling to hear the answer, Fanny still couldn't help but ask.

"And you? What do Black Roses do?"

"Mainly importing and exporting stolen goods. You know, cars, weapons, jewelry - works. We have our own drug businesses, but only for the dealers. clubs and pubs that we own or have a stake in. Yes, we have prostitutes in these establishments but are there because they want to." He just shrugged as if he was discussing the weather with her.

At that moment, Fanny was no longer really sure if she was feeling dizzy and sick because she hadn't eaten or slept properly for the past few days or if it was because of what she was hearing. This life is still without innocence. They were still killers to her no matter what he was trying to say.

And there's one important detail that still doesn't quite make sense to her. If Mr. Wallace is the head of the organization and Michel is his son, so why should Vengo be the leader?

"Michel is the rightful heir but he doesn't want to take the lead. Because Mr. Simon is Mr. Wallace's best friend, we all vote for Vengo by default." He clarified when she asked him.

There were seconds of silence before Fanny turned her head to look at Andy.

"Ok, so Vengo and Charles are brothers and Michel is second in command even though he's the legal heir. So how do you and Carlos fit into this?"

Andy grinned at the way she handled the information as if he were giving her the truth about a book.

"Carlos is Michel's cousin. And I... well... I got to that part."

She looked at him curiously.

You'll meet Carlos and Vengo's wife for dinner tonight, but again they're allied. Carlos' wife is Gwen, the daughter of the leader Davies."

Without saying another word, he pointed to the white door to her left.

"Clean yourself up now. Dinner is always at seven and Vengo hates latecomers."

Andy also gets up and tells her he'll be back in twenty minutes.

---

Open the white door, and when she sees the bathtub, the shower, the shampoo, and the soap, she feels tears welling up in her eyes.

When she was abducted less than a week earlier, she thought she was going to live in some filthy place, desperate for basic necessities. Instead, she now stands in front of a great bathroom and has a large bedroom with a cozy bed.

She doesn't even have that at home, which immediately makes her feel guilty. She thought of her father. He's definitely worried about her. Perhaps he even called the police to report a missing person. She wondered if he was still eating right and taking his blood pressure medication.

'I'm fine, Dad... please don't worry.' She whispered to herself.

Even though it wasn't her ideal situation, gratitude flooded her body.

Glancing in the mirror, her eyes widened in shock. She is filthy. Dust. Her face was deadly pale with some bruises on her hands and face. Her scrubs are filthy. All she wants to do is soak in the tub but she knows she can't stay in the shower for too long.

Fanny winced as she quickly took off her clothes. She looked back in the mirror and noticed scratches on her arm.
