Chapter Ten: Back at the bar

I sat across Saint in the dining room, feeling his eyes on me with each awkward second that passed by.

"It's fine, Saint," I told him again, still looking down at my fingers and picking at my cuticles.

I heard him take a deep breath.

"Is there something you want? Anything?" He asked and I looked up to meet his eyes.

"Yes," I replied which made him cock a brow at me and lean back into his seat.

"What's that?"

"Let me keep working at the bar."

He furrowed his eyebrows together, a frown appearing on his lips. Then crossed his arms.

I could swear everything this man did was perfect.

"Why?" He asked.

"I mean, if I was there, Rex wouldn't have... you know..." I said quietly, trailing off.

He didn't say a word again and then looked like he thought a little.

I had noticed that he wasn't much of a talker and I was constantly getting used to his one-word answers or at most, a sentence.
