Chapter 34

I've been holding Harriet's hairbrush for an hour, passing it from one hand to the other, with no luck. Blake is reading an old newspaper we found about missing students. It seems people have been disappearing from our school for years.

Blake points his finger at an article. "Listen to this: a Fae girl named Hannah was found dead in the lake. Her body was rotten, but otherwise, there were no signs of any weapon having been used. The teachers think she drowned."

I nod. "The date?"

"She died in December 1993. I believe she was the first victim, and I doubt a Fae would drown. They don't enjoy swimming, to begin with, or at least Daisy hates it."

"I see." I'm dragging a finger over my lips, finally having put down the hairbrush since it's not giving me any clues. "Lucy said that demons don't need to suck souls, but that a person can turn into a demon by eating souls. It's part of the process."

"So we are dealing with someone wanting to become a demon?"
