Riven was talking to Jax in low tones that didn’t sound casual. Across the hall, Kain stood with a cluster of Alphas, all giants with the kind of arrogance you could smell before you saw them when the doors creaked open again, and my body locked up.

Alpha Garrick walked in with Selena and Astoria.

Seeing them was like a punch from another life. The sound of my old chains rattled in my head, each name dragging up memories I’d buried deep. I hadn’t seen Selena in over a month, and I didn’t miss her for a single heartbeat.

I turned fast before they could spot me and pushed through the crowd toward the far side of the room, where Tova was standing. She was with the priestess now. But the second I reached them, their words were cut off. Athena barely looked at me.

“Lira,” she said, her voice flat and cold. No smile. No warmth. Then she turned and walked off without another word.

“What’s with her?” I muttered to Tova.

Tova’s face was blank, like she was hiding something big. “Athena’s alwa

LiraRiven’s presence filled the room before I was even fully awake. The scent of warm cedar always gave him away, threading through the air, then settling in my lungs. It was the kind of smell that made me want to trap it in a glass bottle and spray it with every breath I took, just to feel it again.Kain and Jax had their own intoxicating scents, but the bond followed a strange, undeniable order. When I was with one of them, my heart didn’t split or wander; it stayed where it was supposed to. There was no guilt clawing at me, no reminder that I was entangled with three brothers. It just felt natural.Maybe if the triple bond hadn’t cursed me, I’d let myself enjoy it. I’d stop pretending I wasn’t tempted to drown in it.“It’s creepy you were standing there watching me.”His smile was faint, almost guilty.“Can’t help it.”“And what is so interesting about me?” I said, sitting up with a smile. He knelt before me. I hesitated and reached up to touch his hair. A sigh escaped his lips as

Kain"Let's go," I said, not wanting to argue further. My skin crawled. She didn't resist. The look of defeat on her face almost made me pull her into a hug if that would make her believe I’d never hurt her.It was laughable how she didn’t realize the power she carried, how it felt like a second death after three days without her. She backed away, and that alone left a sour taste in my mouth. We headed downstairs and into my truck.I’d barely started the engine before the rain hammered the windshield, the wipers struggling to keep up. Lira sat close to the door, her shoulder brushing the glass. My guards stayed in the back seat, respectful enough to hold their silence."We can’t travel tonight," I said dryly as thunder cracked overhead. The roads would be slick, and I wasn’t risking a crash.Lira gave no sign of acknowledgment. I stole a glance at her profile; she stared out the window, and my chest twisted painfully. We reached a roadside hotel before the storm worsened. It wasn’t lu

ZuriThe music at the masquerade ball had shifted into something slow and haunting by the time Lira came out from one of the inner halls, walking beside Kain.Even from a distance, I could sense her nerves. Kain tried to take her hand, but she pulled away. Everyone else probably thought it was nothing. I knew better. When Kain's hand brushed her lower back, I could feel bile rise in my throat. As much as I hated it, if I were in her place, I would have flaunted that bond to the world. Why hide what was supposed to be divine?Unless it wasn’t real.Unless she was faking it.Then Jax appeared. He came up behind her with a small dish, holding something to her lips. She hesitated, then opened her mouth. He fed her. When he stepped aside, Riven passed by and his hand brushed her hip.Selena let out a low whistle. “What’s this? A family hobby? Are they running a train on her now?”Astoria laughed quietly. “Triplet fetish, maybe?”My jaw tightened. “It’s not a fetish,” I said before I could

LiraI woke with a heartache that wouldn’t fade. This was day two of the fast, and it still baffled me that my body hadn’t adjusted.Every nerve in me screamed to burst out of the room and run to my mates. The emptiness was unbearable and worse than the loneliness I’d known in the wild while running from my fate. Hunger clawed at my stomach. My tongue felt heavy and dry. The fast forbade food and water, and the dizziness came in waves. Hunger was no stranger to me; I’d lived with it most of my life. Maybe that was the point—to remind me that desire had always been my undoing. Yet it wasn’t food I craved. It was them. Their scent still clung to my memory. My skin remembered what my mind tried to forget.Since locking myself in this room, I couldn’t turn without seeing them. Shadows of the brothers brushed the edges of my vision. I fought the urge to give in. If they ever learned who I really was, this pain would seem merciful. I clung to that thought as if it could keep me sane.My th

Lira Riven’s smile remained on his face. “I want to take you out.”“Are you trying to steal Jax’s strategy now?”His lips curved into an unbothered smirk. “I don’t need to steal anything,” he said. “You already know where your heart belongs.”I rolled my eyes, pretending his words didn’t land. The place he took me to wasn’t anything fancy. It was a quiet corner restaurant at the edge of town. My stomach growled at the scent of spiced lamb before I could stop it.I sat down across from him, still suspicious. “If this is some sort of apology, I should warn you—I don’t accept meat bribes.”He laughed warmly. “Good thing this isn’t one. I just thought you might enjoy a meal without anyone watching you like you’re prey.”“That’s rich, coming from you.”He ignored the jab, signaling the waiter. “Relax, Lira. Neither Jax nor Kain come here. I made sure of it.”That should’ve comforted me, but it didn’t. My chest felt strange, tight. “Are you sure about that?”“Positive,” he said. “This is

Lira Tova slipped away to grab some food, leaving me alone in the crowd. I didn’t need to turn around as Kain's scent hit me first. It wrapped around me like a chain. Then his arms slid around my waist, pulling me back against his chest.“Well, well,” he murmured close to my ear. “Jax seems to have dominated you like he always wanted. I was starting to think he’d throw a fit if he didn’t.”I forced a laugh, but it came out weak. “You’re making that up.”His breath grazed my neck. “I’m not. He’s got that thing where if he can’t own something, he’d rather break it.” “The festival turned out nice,” I said to change the subject. “Everyone’s having a good time.”Kain chuckled “You think I give a damn about lanterns and speeches?” His voice dropped lower, almost a growl. “What I want is you in my bed tonight. That’s what would make my night.”Heat shot up my throat. He leaned in closer, his lips brushing my ear. “Your scent, your face, that dress—I’ve been thinking about them all night.”
