Samantha's POV
“What does it say?“ I asked, my voice barely audible.
My body was trembling slightly even with the smile on his face and then in one swift moment, the smile vanished replaced by a expression, so dark, so cruel that it sent cold shivers for my spine.
The results….. it is negative right?
“You must think I'm foolish, right?“ His voice was dangerously calm, worse than when he is growling.
“Noo….“ I shook my head, tears forming at the corners of my eyes.
Knox took a step forward. I took one backwards. Then he took another step forward, and I took another back, until my back hits the wall and he was just steps away from me.
Then his hands reached out, wrapping around my neck and then he gripped me tightly, pinning me and lifting me up against the cold wall.
My body grew limp, my eyes went dark, life flashing before my eyes. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't think. Summoning all the strength inside me, I forced my numb hands up, tapping him slightly.
“Kn….ox, pl—ea—se,” I said, through the lump in my throat.
He didn't answer. He didn't bulge. Instead he tightened his grip. “You whore! How could you screw another man until you take in his child?“
“I swear— I.“ I couldn't finish the statement because my vision was starting to get blurry and darkness was starting to creep in.
Then he released his grip from my neck and I fell to the floor with a loud thud. I let out a gruttal cough, gasping for breath with spit drooling out of my mouth. My neck throbbed with so much pain that it feels like I was about to die. Yet, I couldn't.
Then he toss the parchment paper at me. “Still denying it?“
I grabbed the paper, my eyes scanning it and at the bottom:
NO MATCH.
That was the result. Clear. Final.
No…. I shook my head frantically that I felt it was going to snap off my neck.
How can this happen?
I glanced up at him. “There—must… be a mistake, Knox. We should try other hospitals.“
He didn't say anything for a long while. He just looked at me like a crazy pathetic bitch. Then he laughed, and shook his head like I was a joke he didn't quite get.
“You are more pathetic than I imagined, Samantha. But I promise, you'll regret this.“ Then he roared, his voice like a thunderbolt, “Guards.“
Three of them appeared. Their expression cruel. Dangerous. Unforgiving.
“Seize the whore Luna,” he spat. “The whole pack needs to hear about this.“
And with that, they grabbed me like I weighed nothing, yank me up to my feet and drag me out of the room.
“Please, Knox,” I pleaded, my voice tight with desperation and frustration. “I swear……” Hot tears streamed down my cheeks.
My pleas fell into deaf ears. No one heard me. No one came to rescue me. The pack members stood there. Some expression unreadable. Others filled with disgust and disdain.
________
The tension in the grand hall was thick and foreboding.
The Elders, and pack members stood, watching silently.
I was bind with a silver chain, which was cutting into my wrist especially that I'm not strong like other normal wolves. The pain rippled through me but it was nothing compared to the pain in my chest.
Knox sat in his throne chair, with Seraphina flanked behind him, her lips still curled into that triumphant smile that leaves me wondering where our sisterhood went wrong.
I understand that we are not as close like sisters should but I have never imagined that she would be against me either.
“Samantha has committed treason against me and this pack.” Knox's voice—cold and authoritative—echoed through the grand hall.
He continued. “She was in a affair with the Beta and now pregnant with his child.“
Gasps, murmurs, and whispers erupted but it quickly died down with a single flick of Knox's hand.
Embarrassment crept up my cheeks. I lowered my head to the ground, my fingers clenching my dress.
I had cried to the extent that it feels like my tears already dried up.
Then he raised the DNA results and showed it to the crowd. “This is a proof.“
At that moment, my parents stepped inside the hall. I heaved a sigh of relief.
Father was the former Gamma of the pack. He would definitely defend me.
They didn't look in my direction. Instead they made their way towards Knox, and bowed.
“I'm sorry about this, Alpha Knox. It saddens my heart that my daughter would commit such a grievous crime,” father says, his voice thick with sadness.
My eyes furrowed in disbelief, my hope dashing into thin air. “I didn't do it father. I'm your daughter, you should trust me.“
Mother stepped closer to me. She hits me hard across my face. “You slut!“
I looked at her, my lips trembling. These people are my parents and they are supposed to protect me and not throwing me out to wolves.
“Mother….?“
“I'm not your mother,” I spat, through gritted teeth. “You are never our daughter.“
“What? Are you disowning me?“ I asked, my voice broke with raw pain.
“No! You were never our daughter. I found you abandoned in the forest when you were a child and took you in.“
I looked at her—really looked at her. I thought she had made it up because of what's happening but the look on her face gave nothing away. She was damn serious.
I opened my mouth to talk but no words came out. That explains everything.
Seraphina had the best of life. From the best dresses, to the best birthdays celebration, to attending the best highschool while I was left to beg for literally everything.
I had thought that it was because she was the eldest child and didn't even think much about it. But now I know.
Then a guard ran into the hall, panicking. “Your—your majesty,” he stuttered. “The Beta...."
“What happened to him?“ Knox growled.
The guard hesitated. “When—we reached his room, it was locked, so we broke it down only to find out that he committed suicide.“
“What?“ Knox snapped, his hands tightening around the armrests.
My legs grew weak. I staggered backward and fell to the floor.
Ashen? Committed suicide? He would never. He was one of the bravest man I know.
“No,” I snapped, then looked up at Knox through my blurry eyes. “Ashen would never do that. He's probably sleeping or something.“
No answer.
Just gasps echoing through the room.
The guard wasn't done yet. He stepped closer to Knox and handed him a paper. “He left a letter behind.“
Knox's eyes was buried into the letter and after a moment, he raised his head, eyes blazing. “See, Ashen already confessed to the affair. He wrote that he committed suicide out of guilt.“
My world dashed away.
Ashen is dead. And he confessed to an affair that never happened. Why does everything feel like someone was out there to ruin my life.
“Ashennnnnn,” I screamed, mourning my best friend.
The memories of the years spent together clawed at me.
The days we ran in the forest together. The days he taught me how to defend myself because he was worried I'm weak. The days he would cheer me up after mom and dad neglected me while caring for Seraphina. The days he takes care of me when I was sick and made his special soup—even though it tasted awful, it's also has a way of making me feel better.
The day he confessed his love for me but I stupidly rejected him because I was in love with Knox.
I slammed my clenched fists into my chest, willing to ease the tightening but nothing happened.
I didn't even realise that Knox had rejected me. The only thing I felt was the pain of our bond severing.
“Ahhhhhhhhhh.“ I trembled as the pain doubled up.
“Accept my rejection,” he commanded, not minding my pain.
I forced myself to speak. “I, Samantha Walker, accept your rejection.“
The bond between us finally severed.
Knox didn't mark me though, giving the excuse that I'm too weak to withstand the pain. But now, I realised he didn't mark me because he never wanted me.
Then Seraphina walked up to me, crouched lower, her breath warm against my cheeks as she whispered, “I did this, sis. I have always wanted Knox for myself and you know whatever I wanted, I get.“
I didn't react because I already know. And it doesn't matter. They already cast me aside.
“Now, you can have him for yourself,” I said.
My voice was calm, throwing her off guard. Her smirk disappeared.
I continued, my voice dropping into a chilling whisper. “But don't forget, you will remember this day and hate yourself for it, I swear.“
Without another word, she shot up to her feet and walk back to take her place beside Knox.
“Now, take her. Flog her until she can no longer move and throw her into the forest. Let her die there.“
Fear flashed in my eyes. I had expected banishment. Not whipping me. My baby won't survive it.
My hands flew to my stomach. “Knox…. Please don't let them flog me. My baby….“
He scoffed. “Who cares about some bastard. Take her.“
The guards dragged me out.
“Knox…. Please. Mother. Father.“
My head was straining backwards, begging for an iota of mercy from my people, but there was none.
Just cold gaze. Lips curled up in disgust.
“Knox… pleaseee…………”
Samantha's POV My memory went blank at first when Thorne asked me for my name, but the moment he stepped forward, fixed his stormy gray eyes on me and asked me 'who the hell are you?'Suddenly, the memories clawed at me, suffocating me. So I just snapped, “Why did you care?“ “What?“ He blinked, clearly not expecting that. Like what I had just said was an abomination. He looked at me—really looked at me. As if trying to see past my skin, past the blood and bruises, into whatever monster he imagined I might be.I knew he was an Alpha. The tension in the room practically revealed it. But who cares about that? He was tall. Broad shoulders with a fine jawline and stormy gray eyes that could cut through steel. But I was already broken, so there was nothing left to intimidate anymore.“Is this how you talk to someone who saved your life?“ He asked, his voice tight with barely restrained anger.I met his glare head on. “Did I ask you to save me?“ I fired back. Then my hand dropped to my

We made sure to clear them all. Not a single rogue is left breathing.”As much I wanted to believe him, I couldn't. I needed to cross check myself. So I started walking towards the forest.I’ve learned—never take anyone’s word as truth. In my world, I don't get to sleep with my both eyes closed. Not after I had witnessed betrayal firsthand as a small boy of six. The memory never fades. My father, Alpha Ronin, once hailed as the fiercest and wisest Alpha in the NightWalker lineage, knelt with a silver dagger buried in his heart. His best friend and Beta stood over him, blood dripping from his blade and from his lies with a triumphant smirk tugging on his lips.I hide behind that pillar in father's chamber and saw everything. I screamed, cried, ran to the Elders. They didn’t believe me. Not even my own mother. They sa

Samantha's POV “Congratulations, Luna. You're three weeks pregnant,” the Pack's doctor said, his voice light with a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.I blinked, stunned. “What did you say?“He handed me the report. “Here.“I snatched the parchment paper from him, my eyes scanning through it and indeed, I was pregnant. I didn't wait. I ran out of the infirmary with the report clutched in my hands. My joy knew no bounds. Finally! After three years of marriage, I have a child to call my own. And hopefully this child would change everything between my husband, Alpha Knox of the Duskwatch Pack and I. I have been mocked by everyone in the Pack for being barren, but now the narrative would change. I would be able to square my shoulders and raise my head after I give birth to an heir.I got to his study, knocked once. Twice. No response. But I could hear his inaudible voice from inside, so I just twisted the knob open and stepped inside. My breath caught at the sight of the s
