Eli walked beside Kieran in silence.

Not because there was nothing to say.

But because everything felt slightly… wrong.

That feeling again.

The pull.

It wasn’t painful.

Just persistent.

Like something in him kept reacting whenever Kieran was near.

Eli frowned.

“…This is getting worse.”

Kieran glanced at him.

“…What is.”

Eli hesitated.

“…This thing. The… whatever connection this is.”

Kieran didn’t respond immediately.

Then calmly:

“…Bond.”

Eli immediately shook his head.

“…No. Don’t start that again.”

Kieran’s expression didn’t change.

But his voice softened slightly.

“…You feel it.”

Eli scoffed.

“…I feel something weird. That doesn’t mean anything.”

Kieran stepped slightly closer.

“…It means everything.”

Eli immediately stepped back.

“…Stop saying that.”

Kieran paused.

Then, surprisingly, he stopped advancing.

“…You are uncomfortable.”

Eli exhaled.

“…I don’t understand you.”

Kieran tilted his head slightly.

“…That is not new.”

Eli looked away.

“…I just don’t get why you keep saying all this bond stuff.”

A pause.

Then Kieran spoke quietly:

“…Because it is real.”

Eli shook his head again.

“…No. I think it’s something else.”

Kieran’s gaze sharpened slightly.

“…Like what.”

Eli hesitated.

Then answered honestly:

“…I think you want something from me.”

Silence.

Not heavy.

Just still.

Kieran didn’t react immediately.

Then:

“…I already have what I want.”

Eli frowned.

“…And what is that supposed to mean?”

Kieran stepped slightly closer again—but stopped when Eli tensed.

He noticed that.

And stopped.

That alone surprised Eli.

Kieran spoke more gently now.

“…You.”

Eli blinked.

“…Me?”

Kieran nodded once.

“Yes.”

Eli scoffed awkwardly.

“…That makes no sense.”

Kieran didn’t argue.

Instead he said:

“…You will understand later.”

Eli muttered:

“…Everyone keeps saying that.”

Later that day.

Eli met Charlotte.

She was already waiting.

Smiling when she saw him.

But her eyes changed slightly the moment she noticed his expression.

“You’re thinking about him again,” she said softly.

Eli sighed.

“…It’s not like that.”

Charlotte raised a brow.

“You always say that when it is like that.”

Eli sat down.

“…I don’t even understand what is happening.”

Charlotte leaned forward slightly.

“…Is it the bond thing he keeps talking about?”

Eli nodded slightly.

“…He believes there’s something between us.”

Charlotte went quiet for a moment.

Then carefully:

“…And you don’t believe him?”

Eli immediately shook his head.

“…No. I mean, it’s not like that. It can’t be like that.”

Charlotte hesitated.

“…Why?”

Eli frowned.

“…Because I don’t think like that.”

A pause.

Then he added:

“…And he’s a man.”

Charlotte’s expression changed slightly—not judgment, but surprise at how strongly he said it.

Eli continued quickly:

“…I’m not against people doing whatever they want. It’s just… not for me. I never thought like that.”

Charlotte nodded slowly.

“…So you think he’s mistaken?”

Eli nodded.

“…Or hiding something.”

Charlotte stared at him for a moment.

Then quietly said:

“…Or maybe you just don’t see it yet.”

Eli frowned immediately.

“…See what?”

Charlotte didn’t answer directly.

Instead she looked down slightly.

“…Never mind.”

Meanwhile.

Kieran stood at the edge of the pack territory.

Elders were present.

Commanders too.

All silent.

All respectful.

No one interrupted him.

Because no one dared.

But his attention wasn’t on them.

It was elsewhere.

On Eli.

One of the elders spoke carefully:

“…The human is still resisting the bond awareness.”

Kieran replied calmly:

“Yes.”

Another elder hesitated:

“…Should we force revelation?”

The temperature in the air dropped instantly.

Kieran turned slightly.

Just enough for them to feel it.

“…No.”

The elder immediately bowed his head.

“Yes, Alpha.”

Kieran’s voice remained calm.

“…He will understand without pressure.”

A pause.

Then softer—almost only for himself:

“…He just doesn’t recognize love yet.”

Back with Eli.

Charlotte walked him home later.

At the corner of the street, she suddenly stopped.

“…Eli.”

Eli turned.

“…Yeah?”

Charlotte hesitated.

Then softly:

“…If someone likes you… like really likes you… would you notice?”

Eli blinked.

“…Of course.”

Charlotte gave a faint, unsure smile.

“…Really?”

Eli nodded.

“…Yeah.”

But neither of them said what they were thinking.

Because both of them already knew—

He wouldn’t notice Kieran.

Not yet.

That night.

Eli lay in bed.

Staring at the ceiling.

The feeling was stronger again.

Not painful.

Not scary.

Just present.

Like someone was close.

Watching over him.

He exhaled slowly.

“…I’m probably overthinking this.”

But deep down—

He wasn’t sure anymore.

Somewhere outside.

Kieran stood beneath the night sky.

Eyes fixed on Eli’s window.

Quiet.

Certain.

Patient.

“…You will see it,” he murmured.

A pause.

Then softer:

“…And when you do, you will stop running.”

The tension that had been building for days finally snapped. Not quietly. Not slowly. But violently.BEFORE THE STORM__The estate was too calm. That kind of calm that made even breathing feel loud.Eli stood outside near the training grounds, rolling his shoulders after sparring. Sweat clung to his skin, his chest rising and falling steadily.Charlotte sat nearby, watching him with a small smile.“…You’re getting better,” she said.Eli huffed lightly.“…Don’t let him hear you say that.”Charlotte laughed softly.“…Why? You think he’ll get jealous?”Eli glanced away.“…He already is.”Charlotte noticed the shift in his tone—but before she could respond—A sound cut through the air.Sharp.Wrong.Not training. Not normal.“INTRUDERS!”The shout echoed across the estate.Everything moved at once.Guards rushing.Weapons drawn.Orders being barked.Charlotte stood abruptly.“…Eli—”“Stay close to me.”His voice changed instantly—firm, protective, alert. The first attacker appeared like a

The estate didn’t feel the same anymore.Charlotte noticed it first in the quiet. Not the peaceful kind. The listening kind.MORNING__Eli came back late from training.Again.Charlotte was already awake when he entered the room.Sitting on the edge of the bed.Waiting.He paused when he saw her.“…You’re still up?”Charlotte nodded.“…I couldn’t sleep.”Eli closed the door behind him and exhaled softly.“…You should rest.”Charlotte studied him.Not his face this time. His energy.Something was different.“…Did something happen?”Eli frowned slightly.“…No.”Too fast.Too clean.Too rehearsed.Charlotte stood slowly.“…Eli.”He looked at her.“…Yeah?”She walked closer. Not aggressive. Not emotional.Just careful.“…Why do I feel like you’re not here fully?”Silence. That hit him.Because it was true. But he didn’t know how to say it.So he defaulted to what he always did.“…I’m fine.”Charlotte shook her head slightly.“…No, you’re not.”Eli sighed.“…It’s just training. That’s all.

Charlotte sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers lightly tangled in the fabric of the sheets.Eli stood by the window, staring out into the dark.Neither of them spoke at first. But the silence wasn’t empty. It was full—Of everything they weren’t saying.“…You’ve been quiet,” Charlotte said softly.Eli exhaled.“…Just thinking.”Charlotte gave a small, knowing smile.“…You always say that when something’s wrong.”He turned slightly.“…And you always notice.”A pause. Then she stood.Walked over to him.Slowly.“…Talk to me.”Eli hesitated. Then:“…I don’t like this place.”Charlotte blinked.“…Because of them?”Eli shook his head.“…Because of what it’s doing.”“To you?”He didn’t answer immediately. And that—Was answer enough.Charlotte stepped closer.“…You’re still you.”Eli let out a quiet breath.“…Am I?”Her hand lifted—Resting gently against his chest.“…Yes.”His heartbeat was steady. But not calm.Charlotte felt it.“…You’re just scared.”Eli let out a small, humorless la

By now, Charlotte understood one thing clearly—Nothing in this place happened by accident. Not the stares. Not the silence. And definitely not—Seraphina.MIDDAY__Charlotte had only stepped out for a moment.Just a short walk.Just air.Just space to breathe without feeling watched. But even here—She wasn’t alone.“…You shouldn’t wander.”The voice came smooth.Expected.Charlotte didn’t turn immediately.“…And you shouldn’t follow me.”Seraphina laughed softly behind her.“…Follow? No.”Footsteps.Slow.Measured.“…I prefer the word observe.”Charlotte turned now.Facing her fully.“…What do you want?”Seraphina tilted her head slightly.Studying her.“…I wanted to see what exactly has him so… distracted.”Charlotte’s jaw tightened.“…I’m not something you get to study.”Seraphina smiled faintly.“…Everything here is something to be studied.”A pause. Then her gaze sharpened slightly.“…Especially weaknesses.”That word landed exactly how it was meant to.Charlotte didn’t flinch.

The days didn’t slow down. They only shifted. And Eli was starting to feel it.Not in obvious ways. Not in things he could easily point at.But in small moments—Glances. Pauses. Reactions that didn’t feel like his.MORNING__Charlotte sat across from him, picking lightly at her food. She had been quieter since yesterday. Not distant—Just… thinking more.Watching more.“…Eli?”He looked up.“…Yeah?”She hesitated. Then asked softly:“…When are your parents coming back?”The question was simple. But it hit something deeper.Eli paused. His fork stilled.“…I don’t know.”Charlotte frowned slightly.“…They didn’t tell you?”Eli leaned back a little.“…Not really.”Her brows pulled together.“…That’s… strange.”Yeah.It was.And for a moment—Eli’s mind drifted.FLASHBACK__Dinner had been normal.Too normal. His mother smiling more than usual. His father quieter than usual.Eli remembered noticing it.But not questioning it immediately.“…We’ll be leaving tomorrow,” his father had said

The hallway was quieter away from the main hall.Too quiet.Like the world they had just left behind didn’t quite follow them here.Eli didn’t stop walking until they reached a smaller side room.Only then did he turn.“…You okay?”Charlotte nodded too quickly.“I’m fine.”Eli frowned.“…You’re not.”She tried to smile.Failed.“…I just didn’t like that.”Eli leaned lightly against the wall, watching her carefully.“…Seraphina?”Charlotte hesitated.“…Not just her.”A pause. Then softer:“…Everything.”That made Eli go quiet.Charlotte stepped closer. Her voice dropped slightly.“…This place… these people… him…”She didn’t say Kieran’s name. But she didn’t need to.Eli sighed.“…Yeah.
