Chapter 30

Penulis: Blind heart
last update Tanggal publikasi: 2026-04-19 21:24:03

The room was silent.

Not the calm kind of silence.

The kind that meant something had already gone wrong somewhere else.

On the far side of the city, in a space hidden between normal buildings and forgotten routes, the watchers gathered again.

But this time—

They were fewer.

One of them spoke first.

“…She was not taken.”

Another voice answered quickly.

“…Because someone interfered.”

A pause.

Then tension sharpened.

“…The Alpha.”

That name alone changed the atmosphere.

Not fear exactly.

But caution.

Deep, trained caution.

One of them leaned forward slightly.

“…He moved faster than expected.”

Another voice clicked its tongue.

“…Of course he did.”

Silence stretched again.

Then the leader spoke, slower this time.

“…Report everything.”

A screen flickered on.

Security feeds.

Blurred movement.

Charlotte stepping away from Eli.

The hand grabbing her wrist.

The instant release.

And then—

That pressure.

Unseen.

Unmistakable.

The moment Kieran’s influence touched the area.

The footage froze.

“…That,” one of them muttered quietly, “…is not human reaction speed.”

The leader didn’t respond immediately.

Then simply said:

“…No. It is control.”

A pause.

Then colder:

“…He is aware of us now.”

ELSEWHERE — KIERAN

Kieran stood alone.

The estate was quiet behind him.

But his attention was not there.

It was forward.

Focused.

Like always.

One of his closest commanders approached carefully.

“…Alpha. We traced the disturbance from yesterday.”

Kieran didn’t turn.

“…Speak.”

The man hesitated.

“…There are multiple observers. Not local. External network.”

Silence.

Then Kieran finally spoke.

“…Target.”

The commander swallowed.

“…The female human. And the boy.”

A pause.

Eli.

Charlotte.

Kieran’s gaze darkened slightly—but his voice stayed even.

“…They are not separate targets.”

That statement made the commander pause.

“…Alpha?”

Kieran turned slightly now.

Just enough.

“…They are leverage against me.”

Silence followed.

Because no one in the room dared disagree.

Not when he spoke like that.

ELI & CHARLOTTE — AFTERMATH

Eli walked Charlotte home again.

But neither of them felt safe pretending it was normal anymore.

Charlotte kept checking behind her shoulder.

More than before.

Eli noticed.

“…They’re still watching,” she said quietly.

Eli exhaled slowly.

“…Yeah.”

Charlotte frowned.

“…You say that like it’s nothing.”

Eli glanced at her.

“…It’s not nothing.”

A pause.

Then softer:

“…It just doesn’t feel like something I can fight directly.”

Charlotte didn’t like that answer.

But she understood it.

They stopped at her gate.

Charlotte didn’t go inside immediately.

Instead she looked at him carefully.

“…Eli.”

He looked at her.

“…Yeah?”

She hesitated.

Then said:

“…If something happens to me…”

Eli immediately frowned.

“…Don’t say that.”

Charlotte didn’t stop.

“…Listen.”

Silence.

Then she continued quietly:

“…You need to trust yourself more than you trust him.”

Eli froze slightly.

“…Who?”

Charlotte didn’t say Kieran’s name.

She didn’t have to.

Eli looked away.

“…It’s not like that.”

Charlotte stepped closer.

“…It is starting to be like that.”

That line hung between them.

Longer than it should have.

Eli didn’t answer immediately.

Because part of him didn’t have a counter anymore.

WATCHERS — SECOND MOVE

Back in their hidden space, the watchers were already preparing again.

But differently this time.

More structured.

More serious.

The leader spoke calmly.

“…We cannot approach the Alpha directly.”

A pause.

Then:

“…So we stop the connection.”

Another voice asked:

“…Which connection?”

The leader smiled faintly.

“…Emotional.”

Silence followed.

Then one sentence:

“…Remove the girl from the equation.”

No one asked what “remove” meant.

They already knew.

KIERAN MOVES FIRST

Kieran didn’t wait for the next incident.

That was not his way.

He stood in front of Eli’s residence that night.

Eli opened the door slightly, surprised.

“…You’re here?”

Kieran didn’t answer immediately.

His gaze shifted briefly behind Eli.

Checking.

Measuring.

Then back to him.

“…They will escalate.”

Eli frowned.

“…What does that mean?”

Kieran stepped forward slightly.

Not invading.

Just present.

“…They will try again.”

Eli sighed.

“…Yeah, I figured.”

A pause.

Then Kieran said something different.

Quieter.

“…This time, they will not miss.”

That made Eli go still.

“…So what do we do?”

Kieran looked at him directly now.

No hesitation.

“…We remove access.”

Eli blinked.

“…Remove access to what?”

Kieran’s voice lowered slightly.

“…You.”

Silence.

That word landed differently than Eli expected.

Before he could respond—

Kieran added:

“…Temporarily.”

Eli frowned.

“…Temporarily where?”

Kieran paused.

Just a fraction.

Then:

“…My territory.”

Eli immediately stiffened.

“…No.”

Kieran didn’t react emotionally.

But his gaze sharpened slightly.

“…It is the only controlled environment.”

Eli shook his head.

“…That sounds like a trap.”

Kieran stepped slightly closer.

“…It is protection.”

Eli exhaled sharply.

“…Those are the same thing in your world?”

A faint pause.

Then Kieran said:

“…When necessary.”

Silence.

Longer this time.

Eli looked past him for a moment.

Thinking.

Then quietly:

“…Charlotte is not going with me.”

Kieran didn’t argue.

Immediately.

That alone surprised Eli slightly.

Instead, Kieran simply said:

“…She will be watched.”

Eli frowned.

“…That’s not the same.”

Kieran’s voice softened slightly.

“…No.”

A pause.

Then:

“…It is the closest I can allow.”

END SCENE — WATCHERS REALIZE

Somewhere far away, the watchers watched the movement begin.

One of them frowned.

“…He is moving the boy.”

Another narrowed their eyes.

“…Into his territory.”

Silence.

Then the leader spoke slowly.

“…Then we adjust again.”

A pause.

And then—

“…Inside the pack is fine.”

That sentence changed everything.

Because now—

They were no longer hunting from outside.

They were preparing to enter the den.

The tension that had been building for days finally snapped. Not quietly. Not slowly. But violently.BEFORE THE STORM__The estate was too calm. That kind of calm that made even breathing feel loud.Eli stood outside near the training grounds, rolling his shoulders after sparring. That’s all.

Charlotte sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers lightly tangled in the fabric of the sheets.Eli stood by the window, staring out into the dark.Neither of them spoke at first. But the silence wasn’t empty. It was full—Of everything they weren’t saying.“…You’ve been quiet,” Charlotte said softly.Eli exhaled.“…Just thinking.”Charlotte gave a small, knowing smile.“…You always say that when something’s wrong.”He turned slightly.“…And you always notice.”A pause. Then she stood.Walked over to him.Slowly.“…Talk to me.”Eli hesitated. Then:“…I don’t like this place.”Charlotte blinked.“…Because of them?”Eli shook his head.“…Because of what it’s doing.”“To you?”He didn’t answer immediately. And that—Was answer enough.Charlotte stepped closer.“…You’re still you.”Eli let out a quiet breath.“…Am I?”Her hand lifted—Resting gently against his chest.“…Yes.”His heartbeat was steady. But not calm.Charlotte felt it.“…You’re just scared.”Eli let out a small, humorless la

By now, Charlotte understood one thing clearly—Nothing in this place happened by accident. Not the stares. Not the silence. And definitely not—Seraphina.MIDDAY__Charlotte had only stepped out for a moment.Just a short walk.Just air.Just space to breathe without feeling watched. But even here—She wasn’t alone.“…You shouldn’t wander.”The voice came smooth.Expected.Charlotte didn’t turn immediately.“…And you shouldn’t follow me.”Seraphina laughed softly behind her.“…Follow? No.”Footsteps.Slow.Measured.“…I prefer the word observe.”Charlotte turned now.Facing her fully.“…What do you want?”Seraphina tilted her head slightly.Studying her.“…I wanted to see what exactly has him so… distracted.”Charlotte’s jaw tightened.“…I’m not something you get to study.”Seraphina smiled faintly.“…Everything here is something to be studied.”A pause. Then her gaze sharpened slightly.“…Especially weaknesses.”That word landed exactly how it was meant to.Charlotte didn’t flinch.

The days didn’t slow down. They only shifted. And Eli was starting to feel it.Not in obvious ways. Not in things he could easily point at.But in small moments—Glances. Pauses. Reactions that didn’t feel like his.MORNING__Charlotte sat across from him, picking lightly at her food. She had been quieter since yesterday. Not distant—Just… thinking more.Watching more.“…Eli?”He looked up.“…Yeah?”She hesitated. Then asked softly:“…When are your parents coming back?”The question was simple. But it hit something deeper.Eli paused. His fork stilled.“…I don’t know.”Charlotte frowned slightly.“…They didn’t tell you?”Eli leaned back a little.“…Not really.”Her brows pulled together.“…That’s… strange.”Yeah.It was.And for a moment—Eli’s mind drifted.FLASHBACK__Dinner had been normal.Too normal. His mother smiling more than usual. His father quieter than usual.Eli remembered noticing it.But not questioning it immediately.“…We’ll be leaving tomorrow,” his father had said

    The hallway was quieter away from the main hall.Too quiet.Like the world they had just left behind didn’t quite follow them here.Eli didn’t stop walking until they reached a smaller side room.Only then did he turn.“…You okay?”Charlotte nodded too quickly.“I’m fine.”Eli frowned.“…You’re not.”She tried to smile.Failed.“…I just didn’t like that.”Eli leaned lightly against the wall, watching her carefully.“…Seraphina?”Charlotte hesitated.“…Not just her.”A pause.Then softer:“…Everything.”That made Eli go quiet.Charlotte stepped closer.Her voice dropped slightly.“…This place… these people… him…”She didn’t say Kieran’s name.But she didn’t need to.Eli sighed.“…Yeah. I get that.”Charlotte shook her head.“…No, Eli… I don’t think you do.”That caught him off guard.“…What do you mean?”She looked up at him.Really looked.“…You’re… adjusting.”Eli frowned.“…Adjusting to what?”Charlotte’s chest tightened slightly.“…To him.”Silence.That word landed heavier than it
