Chapter 14

Bas POV

DING! DING!! DING!!!

The shrill sound of my doorbell jolted me from my deep slumber, piercing through my head like a sharp knife. I groaned, desperately wishing to stay in bed. But the persistent ringing only grew louder and more insistent, refusing to let me ignore it any longer. With a heavy heart, I dragged myself out of bed, limbs heavy and mind foggy from days of self-imposed isolation and numbing intoxication. The weight of guilt sat heavily on my chest as I stumbled towards the door, my steps unsteady from the effects of endless bottles of alcohol consumed in an attempt to drown out the pain and finally for the first time even though it was temporary the human alcohol worked.

As I reach the door, a wave of frustration washes over me and I let out a string of curses. Who could it possibly be? I had made it clear to every member of my wolf pack that they were not to contact me. So why was someone disobeying my orders? My words catch in my throat as I swing the door open,
