Dominic's pov:

Without a word, Suzanne walked past me, her heels clicking against the polished floor as she made her way to the bar. I watched as she gracefully slid onto a stool, her back straight but her movements unusually slow.

Something wasn’t right.

She rested her hands on the counter, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of an untouched glass. Her expression was distant, her eyes unfocused as if lost in thought.

I knew that look.

She was thinking deeply. And whatever was on her mind had pulled her away from the moment entirely.

What is she so caught up in?

I exhaled and forced myself to turn back to business. Oscar and the others were already deep in conversation about a potential deal.

I nodded along, pretending to be fully engaged, but my attention remained with Suzanne.

Then, I noticed movement near the bar. A man, someone I didn’t recognize, approached Suzanne.

His stance was confident, his smile easy. He leaned in slightly as he spoke to her.

I clenched my jaw.

My focus wavered. Half of me remained in the conversation with my business partners, but the other half was locked onto the exchange at the bar.

Suzanne, for her part, didn’t seem flustered. She listened, tilting her head slightly, her expression unreadable.

And was that a smile I just noticed?

I forced myself to stay seated, gripping my glass tighter. But the longer I watched, the more my patience thinned.

What the hell was this guy saying to her? And more importantly… Why wasn’t she walking away?

I watched for a moment longer, my patience snapping with each passing second.

Suzanne wasn’t moving away. She wasn’t shutting him down. And worst of all—she was still listening, still entertaining whatever nonsense he was saying.

Enough!!!

Pushing back my chair, I stood and strode toward the bar, my presence enough to make all heads turn.

The man talking to Suzanne didn’t notice me at first, too caught up in whatever line he was feeding her.

I stepped between them, placing a firm hand on Suzanne’s lower back. “Get your things,” I said, my voice low, and controlled, but carrying a weight that left no room for argument.

The man scoffed, finally acknowledging me. “Hey, man, I was talking to her first.”

I turned to him, my eyes sharp, my voice dropping to something darker. “And now you’re done.”

He opened his mouth as if to protest, but I didn’t give him the chance.

“She’s my wife.” The words came out edged with finality, a clear warning.

The man’s expression shifted, hesitation flickering across his face before he took a step back. Smart move.

Suzanne remained silent, but I could feel the tension in her body as I guided her out of the casino.

The silence between us was thick, charged with something neither of us wanted to acknowledge.

I couldn’t ignore the way she looked tonight, the way every man in that room had stared at her.

And I sure as hell couldn’t ignore the way she had sat there at the bar, lost in thought, completely unreachable to me.

That frustration, that need to claim her, to remind her who she belonged to, boiled over. As we sat next to each other in the back of my limo, while the driver took us home.

I reached for her, pulling her closer. My lips, finding the exposed skin of her shoulder.

Suzanne let out a small gasp as I trailed slow, lingering kisses up her neck.

“You drive me insane,” I murmured against her skin.

Her body melted into me, her breathing uneven as my hand slid up her thigh, slipping beneath the hem of her dress.

“Ahh…” She let out a soft moan as my fingers teased higher, her skin warm beneath my touch. I could feel her body responding, her thighs parting ever so slightly as I inched closer to what I craved.

And then, Ahem. The driver’s voice cut through the thick tension. “We’re home, sir.”

I clenched my jaw, exhaling slowly as I pulled back. Suzanne’s face was flushed, her breathing still uneven as she looked up at me.

This wasn’t over. Not even close.

Suzanne’s pov:

I saw him before he reached me.

Dominic was making his way toward the bar, his strides measured, and controlled—but I could feel the storm beneath the surface.

Still, I pretended not to notice.

I kept my gaze on my drink, fingers tracing the rim of the glass as if I were deep in thought. But my body betrayed me, I was well aware of every step he took, of the way the air shifted when he finally reached me.

Then, his hand pressed against my lower back.

"Get your things," he said, his voice low and commanding, but there was something else beneath it. Possessiveness.

I barely had time to react before the man I was speaking with protested, claiming he had started talking to me first.

Dominic’s response was sharp and final. “She’s my wife.”

Something about the way he said it, the raw authority in his voice, made my breath hitch. And just like that, he took my hand and led me out of the casino.

The ride home at first was silent, thick with an energy I couldn’t explain. My heart was still racing from how he had claimed me so effortlessly, from the way he had looked at me, like I was his, not just in name, but in every way that mattered.

Then, suddenly, he reached for me.

His lips brushed my shoulder, his touch igniting a fire deep in my core.

"You drive me insane," he murmured against my skin, his voice rough with need.

I melted into him, my breath catching as his hand slid up my thigh, inching closer, teasing me with every slow movement.

I was completely lost in him.

And then, “ We’re home, sir." The spell shattered.

Marble floors gleamed beneath my heels, reflecting the delicate swirls of candlelight from the long banquet tables that lined the hall. The guests—powerful, poised, untouchable—glided through the space effortlessly, dressed in designer gowns and sharp suits, sipping champagne like they had been born for events like this.Everything screamed prestige. Influence. Control. And yet, despite it all, I felt the faintest edge of unease. As Dominic and I followed the hostess toward our table, I glanced across the room, my gaze snagging for half a second on a

Everything about tonight was calculated—the return to high society, the message it sent, the game I had to play. But even with all that prepared, even with all the expectations carefully laid out—I wasn’t ready for what happened next.Because then, I heard her.The sharp click of designer heels against polished marble.A deliberate, poised rhythm. And when I looked up—Suzanne took my breath away. She descended the stairs slowly, each movement deliberate, each step commanding attention. The red dress clung to her frame, sculpted to perfection, hugging every curve, cascading down her figure like liquid silk. Dominic’s pov:The conference room slowly emptied, board members exchanging pleasantries on their way out, their footsteps fading into the long hallways of Khan Enterprises. The meeting had gone smoothly, but there was still a lingering tightness in my chest—the pressure of being back, of proving I was fully in control again, of ensuring no weaknesses remained. As I gathered my files, Desmond lingered, arms crossed, studying me carefully.I sighed. “Whatever you’re about to say, get it over with.”Desmond smirked. “Did you get an invite to the Blackwell Gala?”My brows furrowed. “Yes.”He tilted his head, waiting for my answer. I already knew what was coming.“I’m not going.”Desmond sighed, shaking his head. “Dominic, you have to.”I frowned, loosening the tie around my collar. “I don’t have to do anything.”“Except rebuild your public image.” His voice was firm, but not challenging, more like he was guiding me toward something obvious. “Everyone’s watching to see if you’re still th
