Mia’s POV:

I made up my mind that I'll be there for the festival. What was the worst that could happen? Even if Hudson showed up with his new girl, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. I couldn’t hide from the truth any longer.

Hudson and I were divorced. It’s high time that the others in the Silver Pack knew if they didn't already know.

I wasn't sure if I could muster the courage to face him again. I wasn’t ashamed or scared. No, I was angry and I didn't know if I could hide that anger in front of other people. I was angry that he had impregnated another woman and then made me lose my baby.

I knew I couldn't dwell on the past for too long. It would make me resent him and I won't be able to move on with my life. And with taking care of the children, I didn't want them surrounded by so much negative energy.

This visit would do me good. It would be an opportunity to see if I can let go of the hurt.

On the day that the Triplets were supposed to arrive, I treated it like every other day. After all, it was like every other day. I catered to the young kids, making sure they were well-fed and in clean clothes, ready for the day.

Most of the other workers were distracted and bubbling with so much energy that I had to cover up for them. I couldn't blame them though. The Triplets were big deals and to them, it was like meeting celebrities. I couldn't relate.

The Triplets were like everyone else. The only thing I was grateful for was the fact that they started and ran this stellar orphanage. It was like a dream for orphaned kids and the moon goddess had to bless them for that.

As I was changing the sheets in one of the rooms for the smaller children, the door opened and Melanie walked in.

“Mia!” She exclaimed in surprise and then smiled, “You came.”

I smiled back, chuckling. “I guess I want to see the Triplets that you've talked so much about,” I replied, changing a pillow.

Melanie joined me, taking another bed. “I’m so glad you're here. I talked to the others and they said the Triplets will be here very soon. We're going to welcome them outside.” She all but squealed in excitement.

I couldn't feel the same excitement as everyone else. Strangely, I felt very calm and at ease. The Triplets would come and go. Nothing would change in my life.

'Something tells me that a lot may change in your life today,’ Casset reminded me of what she had told me the other time.

I have been trying not to think about it too much. I didn't want to hope for anything. So far, all the good that happened to me has been accompanied by bad. There was no need to have high hopes until my life changed.

“You don't know that for sure,” I said to Cassey, folding up a bedsheet into the laundry basket. My wolf said nothing.

Just as Melanie and I were finishing up, another worker walked into the room, excitedly. She held back her squeal. “They're almost here. The manager wants us to get ready to welcome them.” She announced, turning to go.

Although the Triplets own the orphanage, the manager is the one person who makes sure everything runs well here.

“Wait,” I stopped her. She lifted her brow at me. “If we're all going to welcome them outside, who's going to watch the kids then?”

“The manager said a few of us can stay inside.” then she pouted, “I don't want to be that unlucky person. I want to catch a glimpse of the Triplets the moment they step out of their cars!”

With that, she hurried out of the room. Melanie gave me a look.

“What?” I asked, hitching the basket against my hips and walking out of the room with her.

“Let me guess, you're staying with the kids, aren't you?” She replied. The look on her face told me that she already knew the answer. She was my best friend after all.

“If you know me so well, why do you bother asking?” I asked back, the hint of a playful smile on my face.

Melanie walked ahead of me and turned to walk backward, looking at me. “You do know that they might not come into the orphanage, right?”

I shrugged, “If they don't, then maybe they don't care about this place as much as I thought.”

I said this honestly. If they didn't inspect the work that has been done around here, I would guess that the orphanage was just another project that rich people did to fulfill their quota to society. It didn't mean much to them but it would look good.

I didn't want to meet these Triplets then if they were like that.

“Don't be like that, Mia. What I mean is that the Moon Claw pack and the Silver pack are meeting today. We can't have all of them coming into this place and endangering the kids with germs or scaring them off with so many people.” Melanie explained. “It happens all the time. The manager doesn't let a lot of people into the orphanage.”

“Oh, that makes sense,” I replied. I had been too quick to judge them. “You can go. I can handle the rest.”

“Are you sure?” Melanie looked torn between staying with me and going outside. I knew how much seeing the Triplets meant to her. I couldn't take that away.

“Yes. I've got this.” I told her, taking her basket from her and putting it on mine. “Come on, go out there. You need to get a good spot to see them.”

“You, thank you, Mia. I love you and I owe you one.” She hugged me and kissed me on the cheek before running off.

I chuckled, heading to the children's playing room and wondering why the Triplets had such an effect on everyone.

What's up?” she rubbed the stress off of her face, looking at the time.“What's up? I've been calling you for the past ten minutes.” Zayn said sounding annoyed.“I'm sorry. I got… distracted.” She said, just as Jaxon's hand rested on her waist. She didn't want her voice to give off whatever had just passed between her and Jaxon. “Did something happen?”“Did something happen? Really?” he repeated incredulously. “Oh, I don't know. You sent me to go after your new golden mentee and now I'm here to tell you that they found a secret locker room and they're doing crack.”“What?” I shrieked, sitting up. Jaxon was alert next to me. “Are you serious?” I couldn't believe that he was doing drugs. That was harder to control.“Well, no. Because I don't know what they're doing right now since I'm stuck outside. Unless you wa
