Chapter 3: Drunk

The awkwardness in the air was too much for Veena to take. She made a move to leave. Seeing him gave her a piercing pain in her heart. The betrayal never healed and her belief on love was broken.

All because of him.

He was her comfort whenever her family oppressed her. But he’s just like all of them, a venomous snake that will do anything to take advantage of her.

“H-How are you?” Stephen asked.

“Thanks for the obvious question. I’m feeling great and surely you’re satisfied with the outcome. You got what you wanted and I wanted to congratulate you for that. Is there anything else that you want to steal from me?”

“I did not steal anything from you!” he bellowed out.

“Scared to accept the truth? If only you never slept with my sister then none of these things would have happened. You were the only person I could lean on and cry for days. It was unexpected that you’ll betray me too.” Every single word that comes out from her mouth was like needles to her heart. This will be the last time she’ll cry for Stephen.

“V-Veena, I’m sorry for the sins I’ve done to you.” he was giving her a pleading look. She looked away fearing that her heart will give in.

“An apology will never be enough, Stephen. The damage has already been done and I’ll make sure that all of you will pay for it. I may be the fallen queen of the fashion industry but it doesn’t mean that I gave up.” she declared.

A tear fell on her cheek but it wasn’t for Stephen. It was for all the pain she suffered for years.

She held up a hand when Stephen attempted to comfort her. She does not need his pity. The anger and years of pain coursed within her heart and gave him a painful slap on the cheek. The red handprint printed on his cheek.

“You disgust me.” She left him still shocked from the sudden slap.

After leaving Nadia’s home she was drowning in misery and buried herself in alcohol from a random bar. Some men were eyeing on her and she was oblivious from her surroundings.

A man approached her but then someone blocked him. He quivered in fear from the man’s tall height and large body structure.

“H-Hey man, you’re blocking my way. I’m just going to buy a bottle of beer.” he stuttered. It feels like he wants to pee when there was a brewing storm of anger within the man’s grayish eyes.

“Really? I can buy it for you. How many bottles do you need? Five? Ten?” he offered.

“Look man, I’ll buy it on my own I don’t need your money.”

The grey eyed stranger has been following Veena Harrison for the whole day and noticed the perverted looks this man and his friends were giving to Veena. It disgusts him to the core. He grabbed the man’s collar and he shivered from his glaring eyes.

“Why don’t you find another woman to play with? This woman is not available. Now scurry off back to your friends.” he released the pervert and he stumbled away from him.

He turned around and sighed in disbelief. Veena Harrison was sprawled all over the bar’s counter with three empty bottles of beer. He paid the bill to the bartender and asked his assistant to carry the bags.

“Hm…? Who are you?” Veena asked groggily. Her vision was a bit blurry but she can smell the intoxicating scent of the man. She liked it and hugged him to inhale the wonderful scent.

This is way better than what Stephen wears. He sprays himself expensive but very strong perfumes. But this one is just perfect. She didn’t want to close her eyes, scared that the scent will disappear.

“Your knight in a black suit.” the man replied. He chuckled when she pouted and stiffened when Veena leaned closer to him.

She sniffed on his scent as if it was a drug and placing a soft kiss on his cheek. However the alcohol in her system took over and she laid her head on his shoulder. Closing her eyes as sleep invaded her body.

His eyes darkened on the drunken woman in his arms. “What should we do with her, Mr. Rossenov?” Felix asked. The assistant could only watch his boss turning into a creepy stalker. He was relieved that boss decides to approach Veena Harrison. However, the plan turned into failure when Veena fell asleep.

“Take her to one of my hotels. It's safer for her there.” Lois replied. He wiped away the small tear flowing down the woman’s bony cheek.

This woman lacks nourishment and nearly underweight. She is very light in his arms and the smell of her vanilla scent made him go crazy.

Veena was having the worst headache the moment she woke up. Resting her head for a while then opened her eyes.

She gasped in surprise upon realizing that she is in a unfamiliar room. From the modern but luxurious design of the room she assumed that a wealthy man brought her here.

She sighed in relief seeing that she’s still clothed. She winced when the throbbing pain from her head returned.

No one was around. Veena immediately grabbed her bags and got out of there before the owner comes back. She threw few dollar notes, a sign of thanks to the stranger.

She transferred to another hotel to plan out her revenge.

The Fontana Company is still under her name, but she can't take it back without proof of stealing from her family. If only someone powerful would help her get connections.

It has to be the Rossenov's right? They are the most powerful family in Geneva City and contributed a lot to the business industry. Just like her Fontana, she is the biggest figure in the fashion industry.

However, Aloysius Rossenov is a very private man and rarely shows up in the public. She must find a way to meet him. She already made an appointment tomorrow.

That's why she is situated to a hotel near Rossenov Corporation. If the plan won't go well then she'll have to find another.
