Veena's cold gaze prevented Stephen from speaking up. She walked past him as if she never met him.
The tension in the room increased once Veena entered the board room. Ashley’s eyes were a bit puffy probably from her crying session. She assumed that they were having an argument. The shareholders didn’t look happy at all.
“Veena Harrison we’re glad that you’re back. We were hoping that you’ll take over the company as soon as possible.” Mr. Travis said.
“I’m sorry for crushing your hopes Mr. Travis but Veena will be Ashley’s mentor. With the scandal on Veena’s name placing her back as the CEO will only make Fontana collapse.” Helen explained immediately.
Veena wanted to curse at Helen. She will do anything to tweak the truth. The reason she is in Fontana right now is to get something important in her old office.
“Mrs. Harrison is correct. The scandal affect Fontana even after three years. I hope mentoring Ashley will save Fontana. We will be expecting a lot of things from this ‘emergency plan’.” Another investor commented.
“Thank you for understanding. The meeting is done and Ashley will be taking lessons now. I assure you that it will be successful and Ashley can handle Fontana well.” Helen replied.
The men nodded then left the room.
“Well? Are you happy to be back in your office, sister?” Ashley taunted her. “Things have changed and I’m the CEO now. Actually you don’t have to mentor me. If there are contracts and important decisions to be done then you will be the one to decide.”
“What do you mean?” Veena was confused.
“It means all of your work will be credited to Ashley. Everyone will see her as the savior of Fontana and you’re going to be her shadow.” Helen answered.
Veena didn’t like this at all. They actually planned her to be the ‘CEO’ behind the scenes.
“Don’t worry, sister. We will pay you well.” Ashley smirked.
“No! I will never be your employee or be some work slave.” Veena growled out. "I'm not here to be your mentor and I'm just here to grab some documents before I completely free myself in this horrible family."
“Have you forgotten what I told you earlier, Veena?” Helen reminded her.
Grandmother Meredith is the only person who truly loves her and if anything happens she won’t be able to forgive herself. The truth is, Helen's threats have no effect on her. Even Helen can't touch Meredith because of the guards surrounding her.
“The CEO of Rossenov Corp. will be here soon. This is the project that we discussed yesterday. If you can do your job well then we can land a contract with the biggest business tycoon of Geneva.” Ashley said dreamily.
Instead of going through the original plan Veena decided to stay and see if Ashley can truly land on this deal.
From what Veena knew Aloysius Rossenov is the most feared business tycoon and owns hundreds of business establishments all of it became successful especially his hotel chains.
Only few people know what he looks like and keeps his private life securely locked up. He is known to be cold and ruthless.
He hates attending business functions or parties and appearing in the public. Some would say he is a handsome cold prince while others a ruthless business man.
She wonders if Aloysius Rossenov is related to Lois Rossenov.
“Oh, I wonder what Aloysius Rossenov looks like! He’s the sought out bachelor of Geneva and rarely shows up in public. If only I can become his wife.”
Veena scoffed. “You’re a greedy woman, huh? You stole Stephen from me and now you want Aloysius Rossenov’s attention? You are way below his status Ashley. He hates wicked women like you.” Ashley glared at her in annoyance.
“A scandalous woman like you will never ever get their hands on a man like Aloysius Rossenov. Every woman has their fantasies and there is nothing wrong with that.” Ashley replied back in venom.
“Shut it girls! Mr. Rossenov is already here.” Helen interrupted the growing heat between them.
As they entered the room they were met with a much younger face. Helen frowned at the stranger in the room and his team.
“Good afternoon...sir?” Ashley said.
“Hello, my name is Fabian Rossenov and will be handling the discussion with the contract. My brother is quite busy and I came here in his place.” The man explained.
“Oh…even Mr. Rossenov’s brother is amazingly handsome.” Ashley flirted. Fabian remained stoic and didn’t smile at Ashley’s comment which placed her in an awkward position.
His team only gave a slight smile as if they were laughing at Ashley's face. Fabian ignored Helen’s presence and turned to Veena.
“Good afternoon, Miss Veena Harrison.” He acknowledged her presence.
“Don’t mind her she is Ashley’s assistant.” Helen blocked her from Fabian.
Fabian could only frown in distaste. “Shall we?” he ignored Helen.
Everyone was seated except for Veena. Even if there was an empty seat she didn’t bother to take it because of Helen’s orders.
“We won’t start unless Miss Veena takes a seat.” Fabian pointed out.
“Veena is just fine with standing up, Mr. Fabian.” Helen replied.
The Rossenov team wasn’t happy of Helen’s words.
Ashley panicked when they stood up as if they’re ready to leave.
“Thank you for your time but we do not accept such mistreatment to your own family member.” Fabian said in disappointment.
“I-I apologize for my negative actions towards my daughter. Veena can sit down with us.” Helen replied in panic.
“It’s too late, Miss Harrison. You have given us a bad first impression and doing partnership with you is bad for the Rossenov family’s business.” Fabian said.
Once the Rossenov team left the meeting room, Ashley growled in anger and grabbed the lapels of Veena's shirt. She remained emotionless and didn’t react to her sister’s anger. They deserved it.
“It’s your damn fault that I lost a chance with the Rossenov! Are you even aware that they can save your Fontana? Do you really no longer care for your company?” Ashley said in anger.
“Why are you blaming me, Ashley? Helen was the one who denied me a chair and Fontana is already in your hands. You are the CEO of this company and I no longer have any responsibilities for Fontana. This company is yours now and not mine.” she fought back.
“Me!? If only you behaved before then Ashley won’t be in this kind of trouble.” Helen defended.
“You’re all alone, sister. Even if you try to blame any of us we will never be defeated by your words.” Ashley smirked.
She smiled back at both of them. She already knew from the beginning that her whole family is a team and will always stick together to make her fall. She wasn’t expecting anything new to them and was happy that they failed to grab a contract with the Rossenovs.
“Get out of here you useless child!” She gasped in pain when Helen grabbed her hair and pushed her out of the room.
She wanted to go back in there and fight back. But she knew that calming herself is the best option. Showing rebelliousness will only make things worse and increase the scandal on her name.
While Ashley is still fuming mad in the conference room. Veena immediately snucked into the CEO's office and swiftly grabbed the documents she needed.
Her phone vibrated and she was not expecting a message from the big boss.
Now, all that's left to do is to meet Lois Rossenov at the Civil Affairs.
A brunette haired woman wearing corporate clothes was standing in front of Fontana and approached Veena. "Good day, Miss Harrison. I'm Abby and will be your assistant from now on. I have been sent by Mr. Rossenov. He wishes you to stay in his apartment." Abby said. "Hm? I don't think that is appropriate for me to live with him." Veena replied. "Mr. Rossenov says the deal will be off if you refuse." Veena frowned. He dares to threaten her? Whatever. This deal is much more important for her. It's better not to get in his bad side. Veena looked around in awe of Mr. Rossenov's apartment. It feels cozy with a mix of warm and cool interior colors. "Which room I'll be staying?" Veena asked Abby. "Over there, Miss Harrison. Mr. Rossenov has reserved you a seat at Piazza Deluxe. He won't be able to join you since he has a meeting to attend to." "Okay. Tell him my thanks." The maitre d’ led her to the reserved table with a breathtaking view of Geneva’s seaside. All of the pain,
Veena woke up finding herself in an unfamiliar room. Where is she? The last time she remembered was fainting from Ashley’s constant attacks. She can still feel the body pains that she received from every blow. The bright sunlight was glowing on to her. She must’ve slept for a long time. “How are you feeling?” she looked up to see the man who helped her last night. It was Lois. “I can still feel the body pains.” she answered hoarsely. He offered her a drink and she thanked him, drowning it down to give moisture to her dry throat. “The Harrisons bailed her out. Do you want to press charges on her?” he asked. “No. Going against them is useless.” She replied. “I’m sorry but are you Aloysius Rossenov?.” “Yes, Lois is my nickname.” he answered. Lois noticed her uneasiness and he wanted to reassure her that he is not a threat. Abby barged into the room and apologized right away for disturbing them. “Miss Harrison, are you alright?” Abby asked. She looked over to the man who helped he
Some people were looking at the woman with expensive clothes. Veena was looking around the small shops in Bayfair’s mall. Bayfair is located in the middle-class area of Geneva where most rich people never steps in. One shop caught her attention especially the design being displayed outside the shop. Abby opened the glass door for her and the owner was startled upon seeing an elegant woman coming in. “G-Good morning, Miss. How can I help you?” Veena took a peek of the woman’s name tag. Chelsy Moor. “Hello Chelsy. My name is Veena and I’m interested in your work.” “Veena? The Veena Harrison of Fontana!?” Chelsy couldn’t believe it that the woman infront of her was the CEO of the luxurious clothing brand. She was a big fan of the Fontana brand even she herself began to study in fashion design. It is her dream to show the world of her designs. “Yes dear the one and only. However, I don’t want to tie myself up with Fontana. Things have changed and Fontana is no longer in my hands now.
A bright ray of sunlight from the window woke her up. Veena groaned in pain squinting her eyes trying to remember yesterday’s events. This is the second time she got drunk and promised herself not to drink again. She wanted to get out of the bed but something is stopping her. A muscular pair of arms wrapped around her and a hot breath blowing on to the naked skin on her shoulder. The glinting shine of the ring on her finger caught her attention. Oh no…what has she done? She turnd her head and was met by the peaceful sleeping face of Lois. D-Did they just get married!? Slowly grabbing his arm releasing its hold on to her, but Lois tightened his arms. “Where are you going?” he said groggily. “U-Uhm…I should go.” she reasoned out. “T-This is a mistake.” “What mistake? You asked me to marry you and accepted your offer.” He leaned over caging her with his arms. He moved her legs apart wrapping them around his pelvis. She blushed as she roamed her eyes all over his delicious muscular
Lois stared at the gold ring wrapped around his finger. Felix watched his boss silently. He still couldn't understand why boss agreed to marry Veena. He tried hard to think of reasons and ended in a conclusion that involves his grandfather, Emmon Rossenov. "Does Mrs. Rossenov know that you married her for securing your inheritance?" Felix nervously asked. Lois glared at him. "Didn't I tell you not to say a word about it? It doesn't matter if she knows or not. We are merely using each other for our own benefit." "I do believe she still has the right to know, boss." Felix insisted. "Even if I tell her she will leave." "Even if she finds out she might still leave." Felix prodded on. Lois sighed in disbelief. Felix may be his assistant, but he still values his opinion. His office door opened and Veena came in. She is wearing his white shirt that reached her thigh revealing long white legs. He ca
Lois got the information he needed and gave the file to Veena. Apparently, Ashley was meeting with a big investor. James Carol is a pudgy man with disgusting fantasies towards women. Veena sighed in disbelief of Ashley's choice. Does she even know about background checks? James Carol doesn't have a good record and is known to a perverted man with many women in his arms. "There is a meeting regarding your new company. Everyone can't wait to meet you." Lois said. "I do hope your employees won't terrorize me. You even have to argue with your team because of my scandal." "It's okay, wife. I will protect you." Lois promised. The couple arrived at Rossenov Corporation and most of the employees gathered to see a mysterious woman walking beside their boss. Veena was wearing a teal colored blouse with a black blazer. The skirt hugged her lower body perfectly, showing off her beautiful legs. Even with
Lois has given Veena a small office space where she can work peacefully. The plans Veena envisioned for Luxuria is starting to form. The only thing she needs to worry about is the supplier. "H-Hello?" Chelsy came in looking around nervously. "Chelsy! I'm glad you are here." Veena greeted the newcomer. "Miss Harrison, thank you for having me here. Will this be our office? I can't believe that the company is a subsidiary of Rossenov." "Please call me Veena, Chelsy. And no, this is only a temporary office space. The building for Luxuria is still under construction. We can continue working here and do some brainstorming on ideas." "That's great! I am honored to work with the great designer in Geneva!" Chelsy said happily. A lot of crumpled papers were scattered around the room. Veena likes Chelsy's ideas since she has experienced living in a middle class family. Luxuria's target does not o
Lois immediately went over to his wife. He feared that she is injured as Abby told him that they're currently in the hospital. "Make sure that there are no prying eyes outside and inside of the hospital." he ordered Felix. The assistant nodded and made few calls for security. A private room is set immediately and only the director knows he's here. He's a close friend and trusts him a lot. "Lois, it's great to see you again! Miss Harisson is safe in the private room I arranged. I made sure the nurses and doctors who handled her won't say a thing." The hospital director, Jonathan said. "Thank you. Is she alright?" "She's in a good condition only a few cuts and bruises." All he can see is anger upon seeing her covered in bandage. Whoever did this he'll make sure to pay them back triple. "Lois..." Veena winced from the bruise on her arm. Abby was driving in a normal pace un
