CHAPTER 5-BREAKING THE RULES

Kate quickly went inside the break room to meet the guest who wanted to see her.

"Kate, has your salary for this month come in yet? If so, give it to me quickly. Because I don't have any money anymore," Jenny said. She held out her hand like she was asking Kate for money. "You're my sister, so you should give me money," Jenny continued.

Kate shook her head.

Then, Jenny was immediately annoyed that Kate didn't want to give her money. So, Jenny pulled back her hand and threatened Kate, "Okay. I'll ask mom for money. I'm sure she'll give me money." Jenny was about to walk out of the room.

However, Kate immediately grabbed her sister's wrist. "Jenny!"

Their mother was seriously ill and couldn't afford to have her mind burdened. If Jenny went to her mother to ask for money, what if something bad happened to their mother?

"It's not that I don't want to give you money. But, I haven't been paid this month. Please wait for two more days. After that, I'll give you some money."

"Okay," Jenny replied. She just turned around and left.

Kate breathed a sigh of relief as she held her purse, which contained some cash. It was a good thing Jenny hadn't checked her purse. The money was from her contract marriage with Jack, and would be used to pay for her mother's surgery.

Kate went back to her room and continued her work. After that, she decided to go to the hospital after her work at the office was done. Because, today was the scheduled payment for the surgery fee, so Kate had to go to the hospital to pay it off.

"Miss Kate, your mother's surgery fee has been paid off. So, you don't need to pay anymore," said a nurse in charge of administration.

Kate was surprised. "What? It's already paid off?"

"Yes. Your mother has also been moved to the VIP room, and only you, Miss Kate, are allowed to visit her."

Kate was silent for a moment. she frowned and was currently confused. Kate immediately asked the nurse again, "Who paid for it all?"

"Mr. Jack Mattew."

Kate immediately came to the room where her mother was being treated. The person who paid off her mother's surgery was Jack. In fact, in their marriage contract agreement it was only written that Jack only gave $10000 dollars as a down payment. But it turned out that Jack also helped Kate's mother's hospital bills.

***

"Mr. Jack, Kate's mother's surgery is over. About her father and sister..."

"Don't care about her father and sister!" Jack threw the document containing Kate's mother's medical history in front of Gerald, his personal assistant.

"Kate's father doesn't care about his children and wife, and Jenny doesn't work either, she just keeps asking Kate for money. In their family, Kate is the only one who cares about her mother's illness. If I can help her mother, then I can control Kate completely," Jack said.

"Right, Sir," Gerald replied. He smoothed the document and continued his question, "So, when will you announce your marriage to Kate, Sir?"

"No need! Everyone will find out for themselves." Jack's eyes continued to gaze at the picture of Kate lying on his desk and smiled.

At the same time, Kate accompanied her mother in the hospital for quite a while. After that, she took public transportation again to go back to Jack's house, and the bus couldn't stop directly in front of Jack's house. So, Kate had to get off and walk the long distance to Jack's house.

Arriving home, Kate ran slowly to the kitchen because she hadn't had any water all day. So, she wanted to drink first. She took a glass of water and drank it. But, after drinking half of it, Kate just realized something. Apparently, the glass in her hand is Jack's.

Kate immediately remembered the umpteenth note, "Jack is crazy about cleanliness. No one is allowed to touch Jack's personal belongings, and anyone who violates will be severely punished!"

And Kate just realized that she had broken Jack's rules.

After that, there was the sound of a car outside, and Kate saw through the window that Jack was entering the house and he was being pushed in his wheelchair by Gawali.

Kate hit herself on the head in panic. She quickly threw away the remaining water in the glass and then Kate put the glass down.

"Miss Kate, what are you doing?" asked Gawali when Kate had just finished putting down Jack's glass. Kate's body immediately stiffened, then she turned and smiled at Jack.

"It's nothing. I'm just...."

"Did you touch my glass?" asked Jack. Jack's question made Kate immediately close her mouth tightly.

Kate wanted to explain what happened. But Jack had seen his glass shifted unusually, he immediately realized what had happened.

"The position of my glass has shifted one centimeter. Gawali, throw it away and get a new one!" Jack said firmly. His eyesight was so sharp, he could tell the glass had only shifted one centimeter.

Gawali obeyed Jack's order.

"If you're afraid the glass will get dirty, let me wash it. It's a shame to throw it away," Kate said as she snatched the glass from Gawali's hand.

"Kate, what's note number 25 in your notebook?" asked Jack with a flat expression on his face.

"Note number 25...." Kate mumbled. Actually she still remembered what she wrote there, it was just that she felt so nervous that she forgot, because Jack kept looking at her.

" Did you forget?" Jack asked again. He smiled with a horrible look in his eyes.

Kate was silent as she wrung her fingers nervously. She looked down, not daring to look at Jack.

Jack approached Kate. "It's only been two days, but you've already made a mistake. What do you want me to punish you for?" Jack's long fingers pinched Kate's chin and forced her to look at him.
