Sophia's POV

I slowly opened my eyes, the bright light piercing through my brain like a sharp knife. I winced, raising a hand to my forehead. My head was pounding, and my mouth felt dry. As I looked around, I realized I was in a guest room, but I had no idea how I got there.

Turning to my side, I saw Mercy lying beside me, fast asleep. Her arm was draped lazily over a pillow, and her hair was a tangled mess across her face. I gently shook her shoulder.

"Hey, wake up," I whispered, my voice hoarse.

Mercy stirred, rubbing her eyes slowly. "What's going on?" she mumbled.

"Where are we?" I asked, panic creeping into my voice.

Mercy sat up and looked around the room. She ran a hand through her tangled hair. "We're in the department's guest room. You got drunk last night, and I brought you here to crash."

I blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of her words. The party. The dance. The wine. The performance. Then the spinning. The blurred vision. I remembered trying to call Leonard... and th

“La-la-la!” Victoria twirled around the table, a glass of red wine in one hand, a cigarette lazily releasing curls of smoke in the other. Her movements were slow, almost hypnotic, like she was savoring each second of her little victory. On the table, scattered like a deck of cursed playing cards, lay photographs—grainy yet clear enough to speak volumes. Each one captured Sophia and Conrad in compromising positions. Some were too close for comfort, others blurry yet damning enough to shatter a reputation. Victoria stopped mid-spin and gazed down at the pictures with a triumphant smirk. The door creaked open, and Thelma’s sharp voice sliced through the air. “What’s got you so happy, sister?” Without answering, Victoria pointed at the table, her red-polished nails tapping on the photographs. She blew a long stream of smoke from her lips, watching it drift towards the ceiling like a silent whisper. Thelma’s heels clicked against the tiled floor as she approached. She picked up one

Sophia's POV I walked into the building, my steps slow and distracted, my thoughts torn in two directions. One part of me kept circling back to how I’d ended up in the art department’s guest room last night. The other was haunted by the voices that had echoed in my head before I woke up.Was that a dream? The words were sharp, cruel, and far too familiar. No… it couldn’t be. Mercy wouldn’t say such things about me. She’s my friend. She’s always been on my side… right?Lost in that spiral, I barely noticed my surroundings until a voice jolted me back."Hey! Sister-in-law."I startled, blinking, and there was Logan, lounging on the couch in the living room, watching me with a small smile."Logan," I said quickly, forcing composure into my voice."What are you thinking about?" he asked, leaning forward slightly as I walked over.Instead of answering directly, I sighed. "Can I have some tea?""Yes, sure." He held out the cup in his hands without hesitation.I took it, grateful for the wa

CRYSTAL UNIVERSITY - GUEST ROOM“You,” Conrad hissed, his voice trembling with disbelief. His fists were clenched, and the muscles in his jaw twitched.“I still don’t get it. Why the hell did you help me?”The room’s light was dim, the kind that bent into shadows and splashed color onto every surface. A slow turn of the rotating disco bulb washed the walls in blues, reds, and greens. Expensive art pieces stood at every corner, tall frames and strange sculptures, their shapes throwing warped shadows across the space. On the bed — its white sheets neat but stained by the half-empty glass bottle beside her — lay Sophia. Unmoving. Her head had rolled to the side, hair spilling like dark ink across the pillow. Her lips were parted slightly, as though she had been speaking to someone in a dream before silence claimed her.Conrad paced like a caged animal, eyes darting between the unconscious girl and the woman leaning lazily against a metal pillar.Mercy.Her arms were folded across her che

PROM NIGHT HALL"Why is Conrad still hovering around you? I hate his guts," Mercy hissed, arms folded and eyes scanning the room with distaste."I blame myself for being lenient with him," I replied, my voice sharp with regret. "He sent me a text saying he wanted us to meet, and like a fool, I agreed. I told him we could just be friends. But today..." My words trailed off as the anger swelled in my chest. The memory of what he whispered earlier haunted me."I don't mind sharing."Those four words sliced through my heart like a serrated blade. My fists clenched as the pain bubbled beneath my ribs. Who did he think he was?All I wanted now was to go home—to Leonard. I needed to tell him everything. Conrad was toying with fire, and he had no idea how dangerous the consequences could be.I walked with Mercy, each step heavy with boiling rage, and sat at one of the tables arranged near the stage."Did you tell him that you're married now?" Mercy asked, voice low but firm."Yes, I did. But

PROM NIGHT HALL"Did you see what Jasmine wore? It's practically stitched onto her," one girl whispered to her friend near the punch table, pretending not to stare. The hall glowed under a canopy of golden lights, their soft shimmer catching the gleam of polished shoes and glittering gowns. Music pulsed through the air, laughter tumbled from clustered groups, and champagne flutes clinked over shared secrets and stolen glances."She’s trying way too hard. I mean—please, rhinestones and feathers?" the other snorted. At the edge of the dance floor, two boys leaned close over their drinks."I heard Coach is actually here, hiding at the back," one said."Probably making sure no one spikes the punch this year," the other replied, laughing.A burst of flashbulbs lit up the far end of the room as a pair of figures entered—turning heads immediately.Sophia entered, radiant as moonlight on still water. She wore a floor-length deep emerald gown that shimmered subtly under the lights, sculpted to
