Chapter 5: Newlywed
I squeeze my little black purse anxiously while I follow my husband upstairs to the main bedroom. Once I am in, I look around nervously without actually seeing something in particular, I’m so anxious I’m unable to pay attention to the room or what is in it, I’m even having trouble breathing. When I open my eyes, it’s already morning. It takes me a few seconds to remember where I am. I sink my head in the pillow before looking up. Dimitri is not on his side of the bed. Suddenly, the bathroom door opens and Dimitri comes out completely naked. I turn my face to the other side, my cheeks are red as tomatoes. Of all the things I thought about how my husband would look like before my wedding, I never expected him to be this fine. I mean, even with his clothes on it’s obvious that he is ripped, but without them, you can really appreciate every muscle and every curve. Not even in my wildest dreams, I thought Dimitri would be so handsome or that he would make me feel this aroused. He starts to get dressed, totally unaware of how I feel.“What time does Margaret said she would get here?” Dimitri asks me as he puts on his shoes.

Two weeks have gone by since I got married to Dimitri Ivanov. I am as unhappy as I was the first day, at least Dimitri hasn’t tried to have sex with me since our wedding night, which I guess is something to be thankful for. On the other hand, my husband hasn’t allowed me to talk to my family because he is punishing me for trying to smash the telephone against his head and I really resent him for it. Luckily, he is not around the house much, he spends most days out, I don’t know if my husband does this to avoid me, all I know is that I appreciate it when he is not around, I prefer to be alone in this big house than with him. Although the truth is that even when he is home, we barely speak to each other and when we do we get into big fights where we both yell until one of us storms out. I hate him and he hates me. That’s just the way things are between us and the less we talk, the better.
