1.Tragedy

Luna could only take a deep breath looking out the car window. She really hates rain, especially on a special day like this. Can't the rain come another time? Should she sing a rain-repellent song to make them really go away?

"Come on, don't be so sullen, we can just celebrate your birthday at home, right? There's the best chef in the world with us, so why should you be sad because you can't have dinner at a five-star restaurant?" said Mr. Andreas without turning his head.

Luna shook her head slowly, leaned closer to the front seat, and looked at her parents one by one.

"It's different Dad, it's not just the usual five-star hotel, it's a really special place, and getting a table there is really hard!" Luna protested.

Mr. Andreas and Mrs. Lily only chuckled lightly at how upset their only child was because they couldn't celebrate their birthday at their dream place.

"We can go there tomorrow if the weather permits," said Mrs. Lily then smiled warmly.

Luna still wanted to swear because she felt so unlucky, but looking at her parents, her heart softened. Well, she didn't want to ruin this special day, it wouldn't be a bad thing to spend the rest of the day with warm food, and small talk between her parents.

Like slow motion in a movie, Luna could see very clearly when a speeding car crossed the road and hit her car so hard. Not knowing what happened next, everything happened so fast, and when Luna opened her eyes, her car was already upside down with both parents covered in blood.

Luna froze in place, her consciousness still not fully recovered. And the moment she regained consciousness, she immediately dashed out of the car with a scream that could only reach her throat.

As soon as Luna managed to get out of her car, the only thing she could do was run to the car that hit her earlier to ask for help.

Luna knocked frantically on the windshield of the car. Tears mixed with rainwater continued to stream down her face.

"Please, my parents are there!" she shouted with difficulty.

The two men who had just gotten out of the car ran quickly toward Luna's car. They tried hard to get Luna's parents out of there. Luna fell on the asphalt because her body was in shock so it was difficult for her to stand.

With tears that kept flowing, the girl saw her parents in the arms of the men. Her father and mother, who were so handsome and beautiful, now looked very terrible with blood constantly coming out of their bodies.

The two men ran with Luna's parents into their car. Someone came out again and approached Luna.

"We have to go to the hospital," said the man then lifted Luna's body and carried her into the car.

The man drove his car very fast to the hospital. When they got there, several nurses with two gurneys approached them. Previously, one of the men had contacted a nearby hospital so they could get ready.

Luna sat limp outside the ER. Besides the tears that wouldn't stop flowing, the girl also didn't stop praying.

"Sorry, I don't know how to say it, but I'm really sorry," said the man who had been sitting beside her.

Rather than answer the question, Luna couldn't even turn her head.

"I will pay for all the maintenance costs," said the man again.

Luna just smiled bitterly. How could the man talk about money at a time like this?

"Just save your money, we don't need it," Luna said quietly.

Those words sounded so cold.

"Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to flaunt money or anything, I just wanted to be responsible," the man replied.

Luna shook her head slowly. Her body still felt so weak that she was no longer able to reply to the man's words.

Really, that man would rather be quiet and join in the prayer than keep on rambling on such nonsense. At least that's Luna's opinion.

"Guardian of the patient?" asked a nurse who had just approached them.

"It's me!" said Luna quickly.

"Hurry up, Miss, you may not have much time left," said the nurse.

Luna shook her head in disapproval, the girl ran into the emergency room. Inside, the girl was again surprised to see her mother lying motionless with a white sheet covering her body and even her head.

"Luna," whispered Mr. Andreas with difficulty.

Luna averted her eyes and turned to her father who looked so weak. The girl approached her father and held her father's hand tightly.

"You have to be strong," said Mr. Andreas.

Luna's screams immediately broke to fill the room.

"You..." Mr. Andreas called the man who had run into them.

The man approached, and he stood beside Luna.

"Name?" asked Mr. Andreas.

"Sam," the man said quietly.

"You have to marry Luna! Promise me," said Mr. Andreas with difficulty.

Both Luna and Sam fell silent.

"Promise me you won't leave my daughter alone!" whispered Mr. Andreas.

"Dad," Luna could only shake her head while crying and sobbing. Seeing her father's condition really scared her.

"Promise me!" Mr. Andreas insisted.

"I promise!" said Sam in the end.

After hearing Sam's answer, Mr. Andreas smiled, and finally breathed his last witnessed by his only daughter.

Luna immediately fell limp to see her father and mother who was now leaving her.

Meanwhile, Sam could only freeze watching what happened as a result of his actions. The girl beside him had to lose her parents because of his carelessness. Sam didn't blame Luna's father for asking him to marry the girl.

Maybe the girl's father was afraid that his daughter would live alone in misery, so as punishment, Sam had to marry the girl and be with her no matter what.

Jake—Sam's younger brother, could only silently witness what was happening in the emergency room.

"Please wait outside, we have to take good care of the body," begged one of the nurses.

"Let me stay here a little longer, they might wake up again if they hear my voice," whined Luna.

"Sorry Miss, please wait outside," the nurse begged with a heavy heart.

Luna who still couldn't stand up, just kept on crying so hard. Sam also helped Luna to stand up and carried the girl out of the emergency room so that the doctors and nurses could do their jobs properly.

Not a single word could come out of Sam's mouth. He knew that all of this was his fault. If only he had not crashed into their car, Luna would not have lost her parents. If time could be turned back, he would not cut the road and caused this tragedy to happen.
