Talks

Celeste did not care about the debate in the living room as she comforted Aunt Ganna and thought about the letter her mother left before she killed herself.

The letter was given to Celeste by Aunt Ganna when she was fourteen. She said that Aunt Ganna should keep this letter until the time came.

Most of the letter was about how inadequate she was as a mother. She could only pray that her daughter would continue to live a better life while enjoying the warmth of a family she could no longer feel.

In the letter, her mother has little to say about her father's betrayal, with only a hint that she is too naive to oversimplify every problem she faces, thinking that love will balance it all out. It goes on and on about how she does not really understand the role of a wife in a relationship and does not do well in maintaining a good relationship with her mother-in-law. She hoped her daughter would be different. Unlike her, Celeste's mother expected Celeste to be treated with genuine love by her husband and in-laws.

As she recalled the words in her mother's letter, Celeste felt very angry. She could not understand the pain and torture her mother was going through at that time. She would constantly remind her daughter that if the day came when she made an appointment with that special someone, she would have to stay true to her word and not let that person down no matter what.

Perhaps she wanted most at that time her husband's unwavering loyalty and support.

However, to her doom, less than a year after she died, Damari entered the Armstrong family with their three children.

Just like that, she became a responsible family woman. Her father's face was filled with happiness. He only had the woman and his three children in his eyes, pampering and loving them. His recently deceased wife was forgotten in his mind.

What confused Celeste was the last paragraph of her mother's letter.

The letter says that Celeste must stay with the Armstrongs until the day she gets married, and if she marries the man she loves, then there is no need to tell the Bakers.

She did not understand what her mother was trying to tell her.

According to Aunt Ganna, that was when her mother had cut ties with the Bakers, so she rarely said anything about them.

On several occasions, she mentioned it and claimed that she was no longer entitled to talk about her family.

Celeste's surname is Baker, not Armstrong, which is probably her mother's way of remembering and paying for the Baker family.

However, Celeste had never thought of contacting the Baker family.

As she returned to her room, Aunt Ganna sat in front of Celeste as she sobbed softly, "Celeste, what should we do? Are you really going to marry that man? If your mother finds out about this, she will be very heartbroken."

"My dear child, what are we going to do? Aunt Ganna couldn't even bear to say something rude to a child like you, how could they be so heartless and push you to the living hell, for their own position and wealth. My poor daughter, what are we going to do? Marie, please bless Celeste, don't let them destroy her like that."

"Aunt Ganna is so useless, I can't help you with anything. I don't even have the right to say anything fair to you while they insult you so pitifully." Said Aunt Ganna while crying loudly.

Celeste panicked and pulled out some tissues to wipe Aunt Ganna's tears as she comforted her, "Aunt Ganna, don't cry. If you risk your health because of that, I will feel really bad."

Celeste's eyes were also full of tears. Aunt Ganna was very nice to her.

She had no children in her entire life, so she treated Celeste like her own.

In the years since her mother's death, Aunt Ganna has always been the one to take care of her health.

Their relationship is no different from the bond between a biological mother and child or even closer than that of many other average family relationships.

This was why Aunt Ganna was so sad to see Celeste treated this way.

After stabilizing her emotions, Celeste held Aunt Ganna's hand and said, "Aunt Ganna, you do not need to be upset. Maybe things are not as bad as you think. Have you forgotten what my mother mentioned in that last letter? If it were not for my mother's last wish, I would have left this place long ago. Now that I have been able to get rid of the Armstrong family, how the method of leaving is not important."

Aunt Ganna babbled a little, "Even so, it shouldn't be like this, it's too annoying. What about your future anyway?"

"You are only twenty years old, you still have a long way to go for your future, and now everything is ruined by them. I am ashamed if I have to meet your mother when she dies." Said the older woman.

Aunt Ganna was heartbroken. Watching how this kid grew up over the years, she knew how great Celeste was.

Celeste is beautiful and full of talent and knowledge and demonstrates extraordinary excellence in her language skills. Seeing how she grew up like her mother, how could she not cherish and love this child?

Aunt Ganna's tears fell onto the linked hands, and Celeste's heart fluttered simultaneously, "Aunt Ganna," she said as she used her long slender fingers to wipe the tears from the girl's face, "You must live long. Otherwise, I will not be able to eat your cooking. What if I starve to death?"

Aunt Ganna looked at her in annoyance, "Can't you see this sad situation? However, you are now thinking about food?" With that, her tears stopped.

Celeste laughed heartily, "Beautiful Aunt Ganna, don't shed another tear, you will grow old much faster."

Aunt Ganna wryly hit Celeste's forehead lightly.

Celeste then persuaded Aunt Ganna to distract her from the sadness and slowly analyzed the current situation.

"Aunt Ganna, do not be upset now. Listen to me," she paused, "The Davis is a family of noble descent. According to what I know, they do well in both legal and illegal businesses. Especially in the business circle, they have a strong position. However, such a family lets their young master marry an unknown woman. Isn't that strange?” Moreover, the Armstrong family is not comparable to them.

Aunt Ganna pondered, "Do not tell me, young master, they are strange people?" The thought made Aunt Ganna's cold hands tremble, "If that is the case, then what should we do? How about you run away, run as far as you can." Moreover, the woman immediately tried to get up and pack Celeste's clothes.

Celeste quickly grabbed Aunt Ganna's hand, "Aunt Ganna, don't be nervous, sit down and listen to me," as she motioned for Aunt Ganna to sit down, she continued, "I don't know if young master Davis is a strange person or not, but I know is that this kind of family structure must have their own internal battle within the family, where they are at war with each other. Letting a man marry a wife from a non-aristocratic family, unless the young master just accepts it, then the decision to choose me is the result of the battle family. It doesn't matter who the young master is married to, as long as it's not from a noble family."
