Tian Sen kept walking in search of clues, even though he was still small and not yet ten years old. But his heart was truly strong; even the sight of charred corpses in a sea of flames did not frighten him. He kept moving forward, taking one step after another, and with every step he took, charred corpses or body parts came into view. And the further he went, the more figures he found, bound and covered in wounds; among them was an elderly man who still seemed to be breathing. Upon seeing the old man, Tian Sen immediately quickened his pace; after walking through the village for so long, Tian Sen had finally found a living person. Even if it was just one, he wanted to save that person no matter what—especially since that figure was the elderly village chief who often visited his home.

“Village chief, Grandpa!” Tian Sen managed to lower the old man down with great effort. He also tried to bandage the wounds on the old man’s body, which had already lost a great deal of blood. The village chief, who was on the brink of death, struggled to open his eyes. When he saw that the person holding him was Tian Sen, for some reason the village chief smiled and raised his hand.

“Ti…an Sen! Are you alive? Good…. Good… such a good boy!” The old man was overjoyed to see Tian Sen was still alive; he kept thanking his lucky stars as he looked at the young man holding him.

“Grandpa, what happened? Why is everyone dead? Where are my father and mother?” asked Tian Sen, his emotions resurfacing. Although he had been very calm earlier, the truth was that he was truly terrified and deeply saddened by not seeing his parents or any villagers still alive.

“Tian Sen, remember this… Even if you become a strong person, don’t forget your humanity! Be kind to those who are kind to you; don’t repay kindness with evil. Understand?” The village chief’s words were a bit stammering, but Tian Sen understood everything the old man had said to him.

“Then if they’re evil or treat me badly, what should I do?” Tian Sen asked, and the village chief replied with wise words, smiling as he looked at the ten-year-old boy who was currently trying to shed tears but clearly couldn’t. And the village chief realized why the little boy in front of him couldn’t do any of that—it was precisely for this reason that the village chief advised Tian Sen to live a good life.

“If they are cruel to you, repay them a hundred times more cruelly if they treat you badly—as long as it doesn’t endanger you or the people you love. Give them a taste of their own medicine! Identify your enemies by their actions and treat them accordingly! Son… Don’t worry about your parents; you… must… live!” In the end, the village chief, who had lost a great deal of blood, died in Tian Sen’s arms. The village chief had regarded Tian Sen as his own grandson and had always spoiled him since he was a child. Seeing his grandfather die, Tian Sen’s heart was filled with rage, hatred, and vengeance toward the perpetrators. If he knew who was responsible for all this, he would certainly take revenge on them. Tian Sen continued to hold the village chief’s hand, kissing it while vowing to keep living in front of the lifeless body of the village chief.

“Village chief, uncles, aunts, younger siblings, and older siblings who are with me in the village, I will take revenge on those who have done this to our village! I will make them regret attacking our village, I swear… I will definitely kill them with my own hands!” said Tian Sen, his fists clenched and his eyes cold as he stared at the grave before him. For over a month, Tian Sen sat motionless before the graves, neither eating nor drinking; though he was starving, he remained there without moving until the month had passed.

Tian Sen stood up and paid his final respects to all those buried there. Tian Sen returned to the place where his father had left him, taking with him everything he needed and all the family’s possessions, including a necklace symbolizing a bird in flight. He slipped it around his neck without expression; Tian Sen’s demeanor was vastly different from how he’d been with his parents or the villagers. Though his eyes appeared black, a faint red glow of fire shone through them. With each step, Tian Sen left the ruined village and made his way out of the forest. Though he was not yet ten years old, his demeanor was far more mature than that of children his age; not only his demeanor, but Tian Sen’s aura had also shifted slightly from before.

“Father, mother, I will definitely find you, even if I have to destroy this world!” Tian Sen vowed in his heart to find his parents. If both of Tian Sen’s parents were dead, he wanted to see their bodies; if they were still alive, Tian Sen would search for them even if it meant destroying this world.

“Son, remember! No matter what happens to us in the future, you must never search for us. If our problems are resolved, we will find you ourselves, so live well in this world. Do what you want and find your own true love in this cruel world, even if you don’t become a strong person!” Those words still echoed in Tian Sen’s mind as he stepped out of the forest; what he should do was not wait, but search for his parents with his own hands.

“I will become strong so that no one dares to challenge me!”

“Ah, we’re all grateful to you, young master.” Tian Sen couldn’t accept their thanks; it was clear they were just using him as bait. He already knew that the person they were actually targeting was the city ruler, and the man he had killed was also connected to the city ruler. Moreover, there was a possibility that the city ruler was still a member of the royal family, since they would need a strong reason to arrest him. The man explained that there was a possibility the city ruler wanted to arrest Tian Sen; all Tian Sen had to do was let himself be captured by them. Hearing this, Tian Sen immediately felt a surge of anger—not fight back? Not putting up a fight wasn’t Tian Sen’s style; how could he lose to such weaklings? It would be the same as humiliating himself in front of his enemies. The man standing before Tian Sen warned him that if he refused to cooperate, he would inform Tian Sen’s parents immediately that very day. Consequently, We Yan might have to mobilize the full might

“Uncle, how about we do it this way. I need your help—here’s the thing…” Tian Sen told the man everything he had been through, including the deaths of the merchants and the people who shouldn’t have died. Upon hearing Tian Sen’s story, the man furrowed his brow. It seemed their young master had gone through something quite tragic. They already knew that he had lost people from his village back then and that he was the only survivor because his parents had hidden him in a secret place. This time, due to the young master’s own carelessness, more than fifteen people had died. Although he couldn’t be blamed—since he had intended for them to reach the city quickly—it still weighed heavily on him.The person sitting next to them, who had also heard the story, was somewhat angry at the perpetrator. From what the young master had said, it was clear that the person responsible for this had significant ties to the royal court—or, more precisely, to the royal family itself. If the person who kil

“No evidence against that man? Wait, have you even investigated him?” the man asked in astonishment. Wasn’t it Tian Sen who did all that? Then why did that man come to this city? And even though they’d received information that Tian Sen had disappeared on the second night, they still found no trace to suggest that Tian Sen was the one who killed him. In fact, almost everyone who got involved in the case ultimately failed because they were convinced that the young man hadn’t done anything. And besides, with the symbol on his hand, as the lead investigator, how could he possibly dare to accuse Tian Sen? Of course, he didn’t tell this man about Tian Sen’s identification mark, because he knew the young man’s arrival in town wasn’t just over some trivial matter. “Sir, I really can’t help you anymore. But as someone who’s always helped you, I’ll give you one piece of advice that might upset you a little. Don’t get into trouble with that young man at the brothel! Or, as long as he’s here, d

“No problem—I should help you as satisfied customers!” Tian Sen replied with a gentle, relaxed smile, looking toward the women on the first floor. Seeing that Tian Sen seemed harmless, all the women were very pleased with his honest demeanor and thanked him. “If you’re thanking me, could you make me a meal for today? Tomorrow you’ll be opening the shop, so at least give me some comfort while you’re cleaning the upper floor!” said Tian Sen with a smile, looking forward to the meal he wanted to eat that day since he was indeed hungry. “Oh, of course, young Tian. Today, we’ll all be here just to serve you!” said the brothel owner happily. She didn’t feel she’d lost out because of what Tian Sen had done; on the contrary, she was happy because, thanks to Tian Sen, her brothel could open the next day after resolving the misunderstanding. That day, Tian Sen was truly treated very well by them—not a single one of them was unhappy. They danced, flirted, and gave everything to Tian Sen, just

“Captain, this is a major problem! The merchants’ deaths are raising questions among our superiors. None of the women who served them realized they were dead!” said the soldier, who seemed confused about how the perpetrator had moved. They had already checked the roof but found no signs of it being breached; thus, in one case, it was certain the killer had entered the room, but in the others, the victims died from poison whose source they themselves did not know. The absence of any objects or needles at the crime scene made it impossible for them to find evidence of how the perpetrator had acted. “This is going to be tough! The victims were major merchants in this city; if we can’t find evidence of their deaths, our superiors will question our performance!” He was also worried about the consequences he might face for failing to determine the cause of these deaths. Although, in truth, he himself was pleased by the deaths of the merchants who always raised prices on the city’s resident

“You! What are you doing here?” shouted the fat man, not expecting Tian Sen to be bold enough to approach him. He knew Tian Sen, and since they’d set out that morning, Tian Sen hadn’t been seen again. They thought the young man had left them, but some merchants suspected that Tian Sen might have gone into the forest and gotten lost there. Since they were in a hurry to get to the city, the guards had no choice but to leave Tian Sen there at the time. “Me? You’re asking what I’m doing? Of course, I’m here to kill you, you damn bastard! Because of you, they all died—innocent people who knew nothing became the victims. Since the government can’t punish you, let my sword do the talking!” Tian Sen said coldly to the fat merchant. Seeing how serious Tian Sen was, the fat man was terrified, but his body wouldn’t move—not only because the woman was on top of him, but also because he was still inside her, so he couldn’t pull out. “You—aren’t you afraid of being arrested by the city guards?
