LOGINChapter two
Elara's pov "Silas, what is the meaning of this?" I groaned as the wolves held me down and dragged me to the middle of the podium. I struggled against their hold as murmurs rippled through the crowd. "Is this a sick joke?" I quirked a brow up at my mate who stared at me blankly in return. His eyes were cold and unfeeling and my heart dropped. What was happening? "Members of the Nightshade pack, we have been attacked by hunters and our pack has taken a significant hit." Silas began as everyone quieted. "As your Alpha, I have failed every one of you. I have failed all the wolves fighting for their lives in the infirmary as we speak, I have failed all the wolves lying dead and I have failed all the wolves crying and praying for their loved ones," Silas' voice boomed loud and clear throughout the pack grounds. "In light of this, I have searched endlessly to discover how such a weak species could have information on our pack and deliver such a fatal blow at us," he paused and glanced at me with cold eyes before he turned back to the crowd. "I have failed all of you in the worst way possible since I discovered it was my mate herself and your Luna who had betrayed us all," He announced, and gasps filled the entire ground as my eyes bulged. "Silas, what are you doing?" I called out to him as Asher, his beta, handed him a pile of envelopes. "Are you going to admit it or do I have to force an admission out of you?" Silas asked me. "I have no idea what you are talking about Silas, if this is a joke it isn't funny anymore," I assessed his features waiting for a grin to spread across his face as he announced he was just kidding but to my disappointment, his features remained hard and as I turned to Asher for help he also stared at me with anger blazing in his eyes. "In my hands are all your correspondence with the hunters. Everything you ever told them, how you planned with them, and how you revealed as well as compromised border security." Silas threw the envelopes down in front of me but I couldn't reach them because of my restrained hands. "Silas that isn't possible. I have never been in contact with hunters. You know my scent, you know my handwriting better than anyone surely you can-" I began defending myself. "Exactly Elara, I know you better than anyone or I thought I did anyway." He cut me off with a growl as he signalled to Asher who sprang into action and opened one of the envelopes, holding out the letter close to my face so that I could read its contents. My eyes bulged as my scent was all over the letter and as I stared at the letter my mouth dried at the familiar messy scribbles on the paper. Even I was fooled and thought it was my writing, how would I expect Silas to believe any less? "I'm being framed Silas, you have to believe me," I pleaded as I looked away from the paper and stared up at him. "What I want to know is why Elara. Why would you betray me...our pack like this?" Silas asked as his eyes reflected rage and hurt. "I didn't do this Silas, please. I know this looks bad and the evidence seems as plain as day but I didn't write any of that." My eyes willed him to believe me but he remained stoic. "Someone is trying to frame me and if you don't listen to me you are going to let the real culprit get away with this," I looked from Silas to Asher but neither of them seemed to believe me. "Were you always this cunning?" Silas growled at me and my heart broke as I saw the hatred and rage in his eyes. "As the pack law states, any traitor to the pack would be burned at the stake...your Luna is not excluded from that law," Silas announced to our pack as gasps spread out among them and my heart dropped. This couldn't possibly be happening, Silas couldn't do this to me. Silas loved me as his mate but I also knew how he placed responsibility and his pack before everything else and in this instance it had blinded him. "Burn her at the stake," Silas declared as some wolves roared in agreement with his decision. "Silas- Silas," I called out to him as the wolves roughly tugged me to my feet and Silas turned away from me. "You could at least give me the benefit of the doubt and conduct a thorough investigation," I pleaded but my voice was merely a whisper compared to the raging voices of the pack members, all of whom hurled insults and accusations at me as I was being dragged to the stakes. "I always knew she was no good for the pack," "I wonder how Alpha Silas feels knowing his own mate betrayed him," several pack members talked among themselves as I was dragged into the firm logs of wood. I fought against their hold but even with my wolf's strength I couldn't win against them. The wolves tied me to the stake and with a single light of a matchstick, the whole stake came to life as fire eagerly licked the flames. Pure fear gripped my heart as my eyes sought out Silas' in the crowd. Was this it? Was this how I was going to be burned because of a crime I didn't commit? The flames slowly scathed my body and I writhed against my ties but they were done with great expertise and I knew there was no escape for me. My wolf howled as the flames consumed me and my eyes met and held with Silas' just before everything slowly faded into nothingness.Chapter 199Silas' povFear gripped me as Scarlett went slack in my arms."Scarlett?" I called out to her as I gently shook her but she didn't stir and her face was alarmingly becoming pale.I scooped her into my hands and ran as fast as my feet could carry me back to the pack house. Asher had lined all the captives in front of the infirmary and they were bound together. I ignored all the curious stares at me as I made my way to the infirmary and I burst through the rooms. Many of my pack members who were injured from the attack were getting treated and I took Scarlett to the room specially reserved for me."Get doctor Kyle," I shouted at the nurse who stepped into the room and she scrambled out of the room just as fast as she came in."Scarlett?" I called her again as I placed her against the bed and gently tapped her cheeks but she still didn't stir and my heart hammered against my chest as she almost seemed...dead."What's the prob-" Doctor Kyle began as he stepped into the room bu
Chapter 198Scarlett povAria gasped as she took a step away from me and I felt as though my body was no longer my own but I was merely watching from the back.My wolf took control and before I could process what was happening, I had Aria on the floor. She stared up at me fearfully and her eyes pleaded with me but I growled at her."Please, please don't harm me. I only wanted to take back what was mine." She pleaded and I growled lowly and she immediately shut up.My claws elongated and dug into her chest and a sickening sense of satisfaction filled me as the smell of her blood filled the air.Aria howled in pain and clawed at my paws but I didn't bulge. I noticed her hands fidgeting behind her back and before I could react, she stabbed my paw with a similar-looking injection to the one she had given Silas.I howled in pain as rage overtook me and I slashed her neck open, enjoying as she choked on her own blood and her blood splashed against my white fur.I remained on top of her as I
Chapter 197Scarlett's pov "Will you listen now or should I slit her pretty throat?" Aria asked and Silas took a cautious step towards us but Aria pressed the knife into my skin and I whimpered."Don't come any closer," she warned him and Silas growled but stopped in his tracks."What do you want?" He asked as his eyes stared daggers at Aria and she let out a sigh akin to satisfaction."Give up your pack and I'll let her live," Aria announced and a gasp left my lips as I tried to jerk away from her but instantly regretted it as the knife nipped at my skin and I groaned."If you try anything stupid I'll slit your throat without a second thought." She whispered into my ear before she turned back to Silas."So what's it going to be Silas? Do you love Scarlett enough to give up everything you've worked your whole life to build for her?" Aria goaded and Silas remained stiff as his eyes darted around and I knew he was trying to find an escape route for me."Time is ticking Silas," Aria cal
Chapter 196Scarlett's pov I rushed towards the pack house and I picked up a sword that was lying on the floor beside an officer's dead body.I charged at the rogues and sliced through as many as I could. I manoeuvred my way around the chaos as I fought off the rogues at the same time trying to find Silas or Nora.I groaned as someone kicked me from behind and I went tumbling forward. I jumped to my feet even as my body groaned and turned to the rogue who was charging at me. Before I could lift my sword he kicked it out of my hands and made to unch me but I took a step back, barely avoiding his hands.I kept on moving backwards as he attacked relentlessly and I kept my hands in front of me as a shield against his attacks while I waited for an opening. When he raised his leg to deliver a kick to my side, I moved away and swiftly delivered a kick of my own right to his gut.The man groaned as he moved away but I didn't let him recover as it was my turn to deliver the attacks and I roll
Chapter 195Silas' pov I growled as I pushed the rogues off me and my claws ripped open their flesh. The more I killed, the more they appeared out of nowhere and nipped at my skin.Jax took over and he moved swiftly as he slashed and slid their throats. Asher and the rest of the warriors surrounded the pack house and tried their best to fend off the vicious creatures. All of a sudden the rogues began to retreat and I thought they realized they couldn't defeat us but then they parted as someone made their way to the forefront and a harsh breath left Asher who was standing beside me."Aria, what the hell are you doing over there?" Asher asked as his mate stood in front of the rogues and he made to approach her but I held him back.He stared down at my hand which held his before he turned back to look at his mate and then he turned to me. I subtly shook my head and I could see the disbelief in Asher's eyes as he turned back to his mate."What is going on?" Asher choked out although it w
Chapter 194Scarlett's povA growl tore through me as I tried to break free from the binds but they wouldn't bulge. A scream of frustration tore through me and tears pricked the back of my eyes but I ignored it as I kept on rubbing the binds against the sharp edge of the rock.Aria and Jasper had left me a few hours ago with a promise to return after they had killed Silas and my heart ached. They informed me of the surprise Silas had organized for me and mocked me, telling me how devastated he had been, thinking I had run off.A traitorous tear slid down my face as I imagined just what he would be going through right now. Silas would no doubt be in agony, especially since things hadn't been exactly picture perfect when I had disappeared. He would no doubt think I didn't love him enough to stay...he would think I broke my promise to him. All of that didn't matter now anyway, what was important was getting out of here and finding a way to save Silas before he got hurt.A sob raked throu
Chapter 94Scarlett's pov"Scarlett, can I speak to you?" Silas called out to me, stopping my grand escape.Nora nudged me as she made a face at me and I ignored her as I turned back to Silas."Walk with me," he said and we fell into step as we walked back towards the pack house."Nora sure seems t
Chapter 77Silas' pov"Where is Scarlett?" I asked Asher as I scanned the training grounds but I couldn't sight her."Is there a specific reason you are looking for her?" He asked as he quirked a brow at me and I cleared my throat and kept my face blank."Do I need a reason to know where the rogue
Chapter 83Silas' pov"What are you talking about?" I gritted my teeth, and Gary stared at me mockingly."You know exactly what I'm talking about alpha," he replied and I looked away from him."I'm tired of everyone thinking they somehow know my feelings more than me," I commented and Gary let out
Chapter 90Scarlett's pov"Diana," I called out as I rose to my feet and chased after them. I ignored the pain which seared through me as I followed them and they didn't get too far before I tackled them to the floor and the rogue let go of Diana.I tightened my fist just as Silas had taught me to
