Rejection

It was as if it happened in slow motion, but it didn’t, as she watched Max staring down at her one minute, and the next he started to lower his head down, his eyes starting to close.

Okay, so Alex might be naïve when it came to all of this, but she wants that clueless as to what was on his mind at that moment. What in the world was he trying to do? She asked herself, but this time, she knew the answer already. She just couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. She wondered why she had not seen this coming and that made her grimace. She wanted to beat herself up for being that slow to catch up on what was happening. This must have been the reason for the look she had seen in his eyes a couple of times earlier when she had looked at him.

He was so close to her that she could feel his hot breath on her face, and smell the food he had for lunch right there. He had had something with garlic in it, and that repulsed her a little.
