As Darren walked past the beehive of students in the hallway, an intense scent hit him. He looked around and immediately saw her - a beautiful brown-haired girl rolling her eyes as two boys seemed to be arguing with each other. He felt everyone's attention drawn to him so he immediately looked away. 

But Darren could still feel her eyes glued to him. He couldn't believe how exhilarating it felt to be so close to her but he knew he had to walk past her. 

Though he didn't want anything crazy happening, he couldn't understand how her scent mesmerized him so much, it's not like he's a wolf that has met his mate so why then did it feel exactly like that? and how exactly did he catch her scent? He wondered.

He made a swift turn to his left and entered the class. Trying to compose himself as he sat down. The bell rang signifying the start of classes and Darren closed his ears with his hands. His senses had been off lately, hearing things that were said miles away even! 

" You have to try and focus on one thing Darren, it'll help" his sister Meredith said, she'd been following him closely, trying to keep an eye on him. They were witch variants ( she a witch and he a warlock) and had to keep a very low profile and Darren losing composure now and then wasn't going to help matters.

Darren tried the best he could to focus on one sound, but everyone's voice sounded so aggravating, he was going to have an episode, probably blow up all the bulbs in the school or worse send a group of snakes from the woods into the class like he did at their last school he attended in Wales.

He couldn't help it, lightbulbs were already starting to blink and Meredith knew that yelling his name would only make things worse so she just silently hoped that he would gain control.

" I told you, I wasn't checking him out okay Ricky? I was just looking at him." A female voice said and everything suddenly went still as she laughed. Meredith looked at Darren and found that he was no longer on the brink of an episode but was listening closely to something and whatever it was, it calmed him.

Darren's heart stopped racing fast as he listened to her, he could tell she was far away but he could hear her. She seemed to be getting closer and closer and for a moment it seemed like time had stopped. He closed his eyes for a minute and that's when Meredith tapped him, making him aware of his surrounding. 

He had only listened to her soothing voice for a minute but it seemed as though it took longer than that because the once empty class was now filled with students who were all peering at him.

" What's your name, young man?" A man who probably was in his mid-twenties and was dressed in a black suit asked.

Darren looked at the board, saw " Math" written on it, and groaned in frustration. " I can't believe I'm doing this again" he whispered to Meredith who just chuckled.

" Pardon? I didn't quite catch that" the man asked.

" I'm Darren," he said with a slight grunt, and girls in front of him swooned and giggled at him, he almost regretted not dressing in a manner that would repulse the girls. He didn't care about the girls though, he could feel her eyes on him and that sent chills down his spine.

" Easy there little guy" Meredith said behind him, since they were very close siblings, she could sense his excitement sometimes.

" Stay out of my head," he said and Meredith giggled before she looked at Sharlynn and said, " she's adorable", making Darren smirk as the man wrote something on the board.

" Alright Darren, you look like you're gonna be good in math," The man said enthusiastically as he turned to face him and the class yelled " not!", Darren just Chuckled saying, " What they said" causing another round of choked-back laughter, mostly giggles from the girls and the man rolled his eyes. 

" You're all children. Borrow a leaf from Sharlynn, she's not always good at all subjects but she excels in the most important ones, isn't that right Sharlynn?" The man said and she just covered her face while Ricky-Shawn said, " aww she's shy, I'll answer for her; ' yes Mr. Harold, I'm good at everything and smarter than you " he said in a higher pitch causing rounds of laughter while Sharlynn frowned at him.

Mr. Harold just stared blankly and said, " detention for you Ricky-Shawn, and anyone else who laughs will join him" 

" Detention with you rocks, I'll take it anytime" Ricky-Shawn muttered, folding his arms as he crosses his legs on his desk. 

" That'll leg action you got going on there will take you to the principal's office Shawn," Mr. Harold said with a very angry look on his face. 

Just then, The silver-haired boy entered the class and Sharlynn felt that intense cold again, she knew it had to be because of him. He bumped into the teacher and said, " Oh I'm sorry I'm late," then he turned to the class and smiled before saying" Hey guys who missed me?!"

When no one acknowledged him, he just grinned, "Okay, that's cool" he said without a sign of embarrassment. He sat down and smiled at Sharlynn who immediately looked away before he brought out his books and said, " Math? I LOVE math!" making everyone roll their eyes.

" Great, the overexcited douche is back" Kayla commented and some scoffed. They didn't like Tom and he clearly didn't care. 

After the close of school, Dean and Sharlynn were taking a walk to his truck when Ricky-Shawn stopped them and told her to get in his car. 

Surprisingly, Dean didn't argue with him. He just opened the car and gestured to her to get in. Almost immediately an ambulance drove into the school premises and Sharlynn came out of the car, watching as three bodies were brought of the school, one of which was Kayla. 

 

She looked at Dean and Ricky-Shawn, expecting them to rush to Kayla's body but was shocked to find them just looking at each other knowingly. " Guys that's Kayla!" She shrieked and they both suddenly noticed that she wasn't in the car. 

" Get in the car Sharlynn it isn't safe!" Dean yelled as he carried her in and Ricky-Shawn drove off. They had to protect her at all cost because there's a new vampire in town, and it definitely wasn't the Saunders. They may be ruthless when they feed but they were never this clumsy.
