I was excited. I’m always very excited when it comes to our anniversary, and this time someone actually remembered. He woke me up at midnight to take me somewhere.
"We’ve been walking for more than ten minutes now. Can you at least tell me where we’re going?" I asked him because we were nearing the abandoned part of the pack. "Just trust me," he said, squeezing my hand. And I did trust him, which is why I didn’t even question anything when we reached the abandoned ruins of the pack. I looked around at him confused, because it was midnight and it was raining, and I didn’t understand why we were here. "Are you sure we are supposed to come here?" I asked. "Ohh quit worrying." I turned, only to be met with Ivy. I smiled at my sister, even though I was confused. "What are you doing here? Are you also part of the surprise?" I asked her, and she gave me a condescending smile which I didn’t understand. "Of course I am." I looked back at Samuel, who was also giving me the same smile that I saw on Ivy’s face. I looked between them, because there was clearly something going on and I didn’t know what it was. "What’s going on, guys?" "You’ve served your purpose, Isla" he said, and I swallowed the unease that I felt. "What? What are you talking about?" Ivy walked past me and slipped her arm around Samuel’s waist, leaning her head against his shoulder. Samuel didn't pull away. Instead, he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her against him. My breath hitched. "Samuel—wha-t is this?" "God, you are as blind as your ugly face, aren't you?" Ivy sneered, resting her chin on Samuel's chest as she looked at me with hate. "Look at you, Isla. The ugly duckling. Did you honestly believe he was taking you on a romantic date?" That name didn’t come as much of a surprise, because it’s what people around the pack call me behind my back. But it’s never bothered me because Samuel always tells me that he loves me despite how I look. Right now he was quiet, and I didn’t really expect those words to come from my sister‘s mouth. Maybe anyone else, but not her. Not my little sister. Yes, she’s a lot spoiled and very different from me, but she wouldn’t be that cruel. "Tell me you’re joking," I said, looking at them as my heart started beating wildly. Samuel finally looked at me, but I didn’t expect the look in his eyes. Gone was the man who looked at me with love. Staring at me, I saw nothing but hate in his eyes. "Why are you doing this? What did I do to you?" I asked them as the betrayal finally set in, because these were the two people that I loved the most and trusted the most in my life. "I didn’t even love you in the first place, Isla. You were just a means to an end. I just wanted to be an Alpha, and you, the eldest Alpha’s daughter, could give me that. But I just wanted Ivy. You’re too ugly and plain for me. How could you think that I wanted you over this gorgeous woman right here?" he said, looking at Ivy like she was his everything, and my heart sank. "I gave you everything" I said. I dedicated my whole life to him. My father only had two daughters, and I as the eldest was supposed to be the Alpha. But I let go of my title for him, and I became a Luna instead. I did everything that he wanted for three years while he just played me. I made sure that everybody accepted him, even though I was supposed to be the Alpha. I made sure to teach him everything and help him get alliances to make this pack one of the most formidable and biggest packs in the world. "Accept it, dear sister. You were just the key, and Samuel tolerated your plain, boring, ugly self just to get what we wanted. Now we have it, and it’s time for you to go." "No- " I shook my head in denial. "No, Samuel, we're mates. You love me" "I tolerated you" he said, his voice devoid of pity. "Every kiss was a chore. Every time I had to touch you, I had to close my eyes and imagine Ivy." The words hit harder than a physical blow, shattering whatever was left of my heart. It wasn't just my heart that was failing me, because my body started to feel heavier, and my legs let go as I fell onto my knees in front of them. "What is happening?" I asked, touching my head and my chest because I felt dizzy, drowsy, and nauseous. "A little silver-laced wolfsbane does wonders for suppressing wolves." I clawed at the mud, unable to lift my head. "You— you monsters" and Samuel walked over and stood above me, pulling out a knife. "Don't worry, Isla," he whispered, bending down close to my ear. "By tomorrow morning, I’ll be the heartbroken, grieving widower who lost his beloved Luna to a tragic rogue ambush. And Ivy will be the devoted, comforting sister who helps me heal." He drove the knife straight to my heart, and I let out a whimpering scream. "You won’t get away with it" I whispered. "Oh, but I will. I already have" he said and Ivy stood over my dying body, and she pressed her leg on the stab wound over my heart, looking at me with a smile on her face. "You were always the favorite, but I won, sister" she said. They held hands, walking away. "Now let’s leave the wild animals to finish her off" Samuel said. I thought I had it all, the perfect mate, the good little sister, loyalty, trust, and love. But I was betrayed by the people I trusted the most. I gave them everything, and they repaid me with death. Moon Goddess, I don’t fear death, but at least let me make them pay, I prayed, taking my last breath."If I didn’t know you any better, I’d say that you are plotting a murder, Miss Chadwick," a voice said from behind me.I was surprised, but luckily, it was Mr. Vance, and he was holding a glass of scotch."Just admiring the spectacle, Mr. Vance," I replied, keeping a smile on my face because, from what I gathered, Charlotte was a lucky, fun kind of girl. "It takes a remarkable kind of talent to turn an anniversary into a celebration" I said, because these two were genuinely hosting Ivy's coronation on the exact same day they killed me. But I guess that's the truth, and maybe they get a kick out of something like this.I wasn’t expecting him to laugh. "Neither did Arthur. He didn't trust Alpha Samuel either, he thought that he was too ambitious and eager for power and actually spent his final months trying to keep the Chadwick assets separate from the pack's," he said.As the former Luna, and as the one who was the brains behind everything in the pack even after I made Samuel Alpha, I
Chapter 6His voice still carried the magnetic warmth that used to make my heart skip a beat. Standing beside me, his eyes were all over my face, and I could see the lust in his eyes when he looked over my body. There was no recognition in his eyes or any guilt, just the interest of a man who is very much used to getting whatever he wants.I took a slow, deliberate sip of my water, letting it steady my heart before I turned to face him. Every instinct in me just wanted to go at him, scream at him, claw at him, and let the whole world know the monster that he is. But plain, impulsive Isla is dead, and I won’t let them win this time. I’ll bide my time just like they did, and revenge is always sweeter when served cold."I doubt we have, Alpha Samuel" I said, tilting my head back just a little to look him in the eyes, and I let a mysterious smirk rest on my lips to fake interest. "I’ve been away from the pack for quite some time now, and of course with the accident and everything."He t
Chapter 5 I think I surprised Mr. Vance, but to be honest, I surprised myself as well because of the woman I was staring at in the mirror right now. Wearing a short black dress, which wasn’t my style at all, but I guess Charlotte loved expressive clothing, short, modern. Well, I was more of the old money kind of girl because I was groomed to be an Alpha at a young age. I made my way downstairs where Mr. Vance was waiting for me. And the Chadwick mansion is gorgeous, and it just screams money, but a part of me is afraid of it, afraid of what it holds because it’s not mine, and no matter how much I try to pretend, I’m not Charlotte and I’m stealing her life. "I think it’s true that a coma changes people" Mr. Vance said when he saw me. He had also changed into a three-piece suit because he is accompanying me, and I couldn’t say no because he was clearly very close to Charlotte’s father, and he feels very protective of me. "Why?" I asked hoping and praying that he hasn’t found out my
I tried to avoid Charlotte's uncle and aunt because I was planning on doing the unthinkable. I know it’s cheating, but I must have woken up in her body for a reason, and maybe that reason is getting my revenge. I’ll just get my revenge, and then after that, I’ll do whatever it takes to return her to her body. However despite all of that I can’t look at her family in the eyes and pretend like I’m their daughter whom they’ve been waiting for three years.According to the little information that I’ve got from the nurse she had an accident the same day the same day that I died and that can’t be a coincidence and it could possibly mean that I was reborn. "Ignoring us won’t make us go away, Charlotte, and it won’t stop the guilt that you are feeling right now" the woman who I assumed was the aunt said as soon as she entered, and you could tell how hostile she was planning to be. "Umm, hi" I said, and it came out more like a question than a normal greeting. "Is that all you’re going to s
“No no no.” I was literally staring at a stranger who was me, and I just couldn’t stop touching my face and touching my hair, hoping that what was in front of me would change and I would look like myself again but I was hurting myself and it wasn’t changing the girl in the mirror is not me.It was making me hyperventilate and l fell on my knees as I felt a panic attack coming my way and I couldn’t breathe or think until I felt nurses trying to stop me from pulling at my hair and pulling me towards the bed to try and calm me. "Miss Charlotte, please breathe. You’re having a panic attack" they said, trying to calm me, but I just couldn’t stop. "It’s okay, you’re safe" they said, hooking me up to the heart rate monitor and to the IV machines. They were beeping very loudly because my heart was going at 118. "No, no, no, no" I said, shaking my head. The medicine was kicking in, but the reality of what I saw caught my voice in my throat. I couldn’t say more, but I wanted to ask them
Too Bright the room was too bright when I woke up and I had a splitting headache. My eyes felt very heavy when I tried to open them and I was met with the smell of antiseptics and medicine it just smell too clean. “Where am I” I asked myself looking around and trying to shield my eyes from the brightness but even my arm felt heavy and every breath I took was hard. I blinked several times trying to clear them fog in my mind but it just made me nauseous.“How did I get here” that question was immediately followed by memories that felt so real and I could feel the sickening sound of a knife going through my heart and Samuel’s face as he leaned in close his face devoid of any love that I used to see in his eyes and beside him my sister is cold eyes and her laughed her as they stood over me watching the life drain out of my eyes like I was nothing to them. I immediately put my hand over my heart to feel the wound but there was nothing no blood no wound chest some silky hospital pyjama
