Mark's POV:
Olivia was absentmindedly dressing in her room, so I hurriedly slipped out after seeing her náked. Thankfully, she didn't participate in any pack's activity because she did not have a wolf. Also, she has never celebrated her birthday before, as we only assumed her age. Mom and Dad didn't know who Olivia's real parents were. Except for the fact that she was dumped in a basket in front of the pack's orphanage home. I felt a pressing desire to protect Olivia, to claim her as mine. And I believe maybe that was why my parents had adopted her. Looking away from Emily's stern face, I smiled at Ava and said, "I came to shop for my lunch." "That's fine, Mark. I'm sorry that I missed coming to watch your basketball game against the Red Ballers. I was busy in class and I couldn't miss it," she said, her hand reaching out to touch my chiseled chest as she bit her bottom lip seductively. Stepping away from Ava's touch, I replied, "It's nothing that you should worry about. It's just a friendly match." My voice calm, as I moved away from Ava, to create a small distance between us. She was our Alpha's daughter, and she has a sort of charm to compel single guys to lust after her, but I did not want to fall for her charm. "Alright," Ava bit her bottom lip and said, "Emily and I are already leaving. We will see you later." She turned to walk away with my annoyed sister, but she paused and asked, "Mark, that reminds me, will you attend Rita's birthday tomorrow evening? She's your Coach's daughter and my best friend too. Won't you attend it? We will have a lot of fun at the pack's hotel tomorrow?" "Hmm," my brows furrowed, as I had thought that Coach Tyler wanted his daughter's 18th birthday celebration at his home. But it is obvious they were moving the celebration to a hotel, since Rita was going to become a new adult. Ava was 20 years old, and so was my younger sister, Emily. They didn't have any fated mates and behaved as silly as they liked. Clubbing, partying, and sleeping around. "Hmm," I sighed as I couldn't control Emily, after all, she was beautiful and Mom had that responsibility to handle. "Fine. I will be there," I mumbled, wanting to enter the eatery and shop for the plate of ice-cream and noodles that I wanted to buy for Olivia as dinner. "Awwn, Mark. That's so wonderful! See you tomorrow! Come on, Emily, let's go!" Ava squealed as she grabbed my sister's hand and led her away. Emily glared at me once more, her brows furrowed as you wouldn't believe she was my sister. She followed Ava, and they were out of my sight. Breathing out with relief, I focused my attention on the eatery and entered inside. The sun set, and the weather gradually darkened like the rain was on the way. As I moved into the eatery lobby, the cold air conditioning cooled my skin, then I moved over to the counter and shopped for two take-away meals, two cups of ice-cream, and chickens. The thought of having my lunch at the hospital with Olivia made me smile. Even though the possibility of encountering my mother there gnawed at me. As I paid for my purchase, the eatery attendant who sold the meals to me blushed as she peered at me and asked, "Excuse me, sir, aren't you the Basketball Star Player, Mark George? Can I have your autograph please?" Her brown eyes twinkled with clear desire, and I get this admiration look from most young she-wolves in this pack. If only Olivia could drool at me like that. I smiled, "Of course." "Thank you," she giggled and gave me her pen and hand to sign on her palm. I could smell her arousal as my hand held hers. Several young women, both the singles and married women in the queue, rushed over to me for an autograph. They were waiting in the queue to shop for their own meals, but seeing me accepting the pen to sign an autograph with this eatery staff, they rushed forward, all desiring to have an autograph too. As they automatically forgot why they were there. "Star player, Mark! Me too!" They begged, and the eatery became crowded with many she-wolves begging for my attention, "Star Player, Mark. Can I have your autograph too?!" Their voices resonated in the eatery, turning the eatery into a marketplace, and my head ached as they surrounded me. The thought of missing my lunch with Olivia made me worried, so I waved them off. "No! Next time!" I growled, my hands swiftly reaching to pick up my two packages as I paid for them and dashed out of the eatery. The young women chasing after me, but I swiftly hopped into my red car, shut the door, started my car, and drove off to the hospital. "Phew! That was so close!" I exhaled, and my wolf sighed with disgust. "Why do they keep on gawking at you like that, both the single and married women? Can't they wait to find their mates?" Logan murmured, clearly displeased at the multitude of young women lusting after me. I was handsome, so I cannot blame them. Those women were ready to get down in bed with me if I agreed to do it. *Maybe they haven't seen a handsome star player like me before. Besides, I was not the only star player in this pack? Why the lust?* I agreed with Logan as I focused on my driving. "Tsk. It's because you're handsome. So I don't have to blame them," Logan replied, his voice serious, and I smiled. "Alright. If only Olivia could drool at me like that. She barely meets my gaze, and you know how much I crave for her attention!" I muttered, holding onto the steering as I navigated my red car towards the pack's hospital. It was a few distances from the eatery, a 30-minute drive, as it was past 4 pm. The basketball match barely 1 hour. Due to the incoming rain, the surrounding gradually grew darker as it was the middle of the year. When the rainfall threatened to claim the lands and territories, flooding the streets and blessing some lands. "Hmm," Logan hummed, "just give Olivia some time. I believe she will fall for us." His voice was confident, and I cannot wait for that day to arrive. As I arrived at the pack's hospital, I drove my car into the hospital grounds and parked it. When I got out of my car, my hand reached for the package on the next seat and picked it up. Taking it out of my car, I locked the door and made my way towards the hospital entrance. The Star Field Pack hospital was a powerful three-story building. The opulent structure has been constructed for ages, and yet it was still beautiful. As I walked into the hospital grounds, Dr. Sam came out of the emergency unit on the left side, and locked his gaze on me. He wore a green garment like a surgeon, as he removed his nose mask around his nose and marched up to meet me. He was not the only doctor working in this hospital, but I was pissed off at him because he had an interest in Olivia. How dare he invite her to his house with the excuse of helping her. "Mark, what are you doing here again?" Dr. Sam asked, walking over to meet me. His voice stern, as he was once my colleague in high school, but after we graduated from high school, he went to the university and studied medicine while I furthered my education in sports. "Hmm. I do not owe you an explanation as to why I am here. Please, excuse me," I replied and moved past Dr. Sam, as I made my way towards the female ward to find Olivia. Luckily, Dr. Sam didn't chase after me.Olivia's POV:"Mark, where are you?" I heard Mr. Wren's voice boom over the call. He didn't appreciate me calling him Dad—a constant reminder that he was not my real father, even though he had adopted me alongside his wife."Dad, I am in the hospital," Mark replied, his voice calm as he ran a hand over his short black wavy hair."Why are you in the hospital? I hope it's not because of Olivia that you went there. Your mother spoke about Olivia waking up today," Mr. Wren asked, and Mark hummed."Yes, Dad. I had to come and check on Olivia because she is my sister, and I was the one who brought her to the hospital for admission," he said, as I finished my ice cream and licked my lips.Mark looked at me with his shining yellow eyes, and our gazes locked, but I swiftly lowered my head, feeling my heart thudding faster in my chest. Why do I feel this way? Why am I so uncomfortable around Mark?"Is there anything going on between you and Olivia, Mark? Why do you seem to care so much about he
Olivia's POV:I had woken up from my afternoon nap when the hospital room door swung open."Who is there?" I sat up on the bed, feeling a bit better after waking up from my sleep. My headache had also lessened. However, my eyes widened in shock when I saw Mark return to the room. His yellow eyes met my blue eyes, locking with them, and I became so nervous and lowered my head."Hi, how are you doing?" Mark asked, his voice soft as he walked up to the hospital bed to meet me.Before I could respond, the hospital room door burst open again, and Dr. Sam entered and peered at us."What do you want, Doctor?" Mark asked, before I could. His voice was laced with irritation as he peered at Dr. Sam's face coldly."I should be the one asking you, Mark. You came here uninvited, and I need to keep watch to ensure that you are not doing anything to harm my patient," Dr. Sam replied bluntly, and my eyes widened in shock."How can I hurt Olivia? She is my sister, and it's my duty to protect her!" Mar

Mark's POV:"Wait, Mark! Where are you rushing to? We want to have a little celebration party for winning against the Red Ballers now, and yet, you're in a hurry. Is there something that you're hiding from us?" Daniel asked, moving forward to meet me. His gaze fixed on me coldly as he smirked.I didn't like how Daniel Ryan pointed out his questions, drawing the attention of our colleagues."It's personal. And I do not need to tell you," I replied, my voice calm, my eyes meeting Daniel's gaze. He was angry because Olivia rejected his advance toward her before he settled for Emily. How was that my fault?"Don't lie to us, Mark!" Daniel yelled, his eyes shooting daggers at me. "If at all you want to lie, you should have a little respect for Alpha Bryan!""Let him go, Daniel. I have no interest in what Mark wants to go and do. And since he said it's personal, you don't have to pick on him," Bryan chimed in, his voice gentle and trying to settle the rift between Daniel and me."Daniel, Bry
Olivia's POV:The sound of Mark's phone ringing broke the awkward silence, and he said, "I have to go now, Olivia. Take care."Mark darted out of the room, and I breathed out heavily, feeling exhausted. A nurse arrived with a health worker who served me breakfast as I saw that it was past 11 a.m.It was a plate of custard and two bean cakes."How do you feel?" the female nurse asked me with a friendly smile on her pretty brown face, and I saw her resemblance to Dr. Sam. Also, she resembled Erica Robin, my schoolmate."I am fine," I said, my voice calm and she nodded with a smile, as she was tall, chubby, and had long brown thick hair. She packed it in a ponytail, wearing a white nurse cap on her head."Alright. Take care of yourself. I'm Nurse Hazel Owen. Dr. Sam's elder sister. I'm married with two kids," she introduced herself with a soft voice, and I could feel my heart flutter at her words."Nice to meet you, Nurse Hazel," I replied, peering at her beautiful face. As I wondered wh
Olivia's POV:I swear I saw the look of desire cross Mark's eyes, as his lips parted to say something, but the door to my hospital room burst open and my foster mother, Nancy George, walked in, accompanied by her daughter, Emily.Their eyes locked on Mark and me, who were so close together on my bed.Oh no! Not again, I pondered, as I could feel my heart beating loudly in my chest. To my shock, Nancy didn't scream at me like I had expected her to do. And I remember Dr. Sam's warning to Mark that he would have my foster mother arrested for my sake. But that didn't stop her from peering at me contemptuously."What's going on here, Mark? Why are you here? Shouldn't you be in the basketball field, preparing for your match for today?" asked Nancy, as she peered at her son angrily."Good morning, Mom. I already called my coach and he said the match will not start until 12 p.m. today," Mark replied with a calm voice, but his mother frowned."Mmm. So why are you here to check on Olivia? You s
