Olivia's POV:
I had woken up from my afternoon nap when the hospital room door swung open. "Who is there?" I sat up on the bed, feeling a bit better after waking up from my sleep. My headache had also lessened. However, my eyes widened in shock when I saw Mark return to the room. His yellow eyes met my blue eyes, locking with them, and I became so nervous and lowered my head. "Hi, how are you doing?" Mark asked, his voice soft as he walked up to the hospital bed to meet me. Before I could respond, the hospital room door burst open again, and Dr. Sam entered and peered at us. "What do you want, Doctor?" Mark asked, before I could. His voice was laced with irritation as he peered at Dr. Sam's face coldly. "I should be the one asking you, Mark. You came here uninvited, and I need to keep watch to ensure that you are not doing anything to harm my patient," Dr. Sam replied bluntly, and my eyes widened in shock. "How can I hurt Olivia? She is my sister, and it's my duty to protect her!" Mark said possessively, and my eyes widened in shock to see him being so possessive of me. Dr. Sam scoffed, "Mark, you and Olivia are not sisters. So don't act like you care!" "Mmm." Mark gritted his teeth, wanting to retaliate, and I quickly chimed in, "Brother Mark, please, just calm down." Mark's gaze shifted to meet mine. His expression was cold, clearly not liking how Dr. Sam was interrupting him. "Dr. Sam, is there anything the matter?" I asked, shifting my gaze to Dr. Sam, as I couldn't remember asking for him. "Nothing, actually, Olivia. I just want to be sure that you are in good shape," Dr. Sam said, his voice soft, while I smiled at him. "I am fine," I replied with a nervous voice as Mark walked up to the bed to meet me. He set down the packaged meal that he had brought, clearly ignoring Dr. Sam, as he said, "I brought your dinner. Have you eaten?" My cheeks flushed at Mark's inquiry. I did not know why I was so nervous around him. I didn't use to act like this before, so I shook my head and replied, "I haven't." "Good. We can have our dinner together then," Mark said, his voice soft as his hand set up the meal. Dr. Sam looked at us and saw that Mark was not going to leave soon. He looked at me and said, "Olivia, if you need anything, do not forget to ring the nurse bell closer to your bed." "Okay, Doctor," I replied, lowering my head. As Dr. Sam walked toward the exit door and pulled it open, he glanced back at Mark, who was busy opening the food that he had brought. He said, "Mark, do not forget that the hospital has surveillance cameras." "I am aware. Do not waste your time with such a pointless reminder," Mark replied, his tone relaxed as he set up the meal before me. When Dr. Sam left, Mark stood beside my bed and looked at me. I could feel his gaze crawling over my skin, and it made me uncomfortable. He was supposed to be my brother, so why was he looking at me with desire, like he was a hungry wolf wanting to devour me? "I wouldn't hurt you if that's why you are acting nervous around me," Mark said, his masculine scent filling my nostrils, and I nodded. The rain was thrashing against the window, and Mark went to close it as we were left alone in the hospital room. His fresh grass scent filled my nostrils as he returned to stand next to my bed. "I bought your dinner, but I don't know if you will like it," Mark said softly as he pulled the package of food for me. His hand reached for the ice cream pack, and my eyes widened in shock. Why was he buying ice cream for me? My heart raced, but I didn't want to dwell on it. "Thank you," I said, once Mark pulled the ice cream cover for me. The delicious vanilla scent filled my nostrils, and my tongue and throat salivated. "Do you want me to feed you?" Mark asked, his voice soft as his hand reached for the spoon to take it out of my ice cream plate to feed me. "No… why should you do that?" I asked him, my cheeks flushed at his closeness. Mark looked at me in a way that sent shivers down my spine as he demanded with a gentle voice, "Why shouldn't I feed you? I do not want you to be scared of me or angry with me because of what my mother did to put you in this condition." My eyes welled up with tears, but I didn't want to spoil the ambiance in the room. "It's fine. I hold no grudge against your mother," I said, as my hand reached for the spoon. I scooped a spoonful of the ice cream into my mouth and licked it. Mark gulped, and I looked at his face, seeing his eyes glow with desire. I immediately looked away from his handsome face. I knew that Mark had so many girlfriends, so I swiftly waved any form of unthinkable idea about him away from my head. Mark was only doing this to make me forgive his family and not move over to Dr. Sam's house, I reasoned. "Do you like the ice cream? I didn't know if it was your favorite. But I assumed that vanilla ice cream is most women's favorite," he said, his voice soft, but my smile and admiration for him faded. "Yeah, you have so many girlfriends. How can you not know what a would should like?" I said, my voice laced with mockery, and Mark grinned as he moved nearer to my bed. "Do I smell jealousy? Who told you that I have many girlfriends?" He asked, his eyes watching me with interest, and it made my skin crawl again, as I wasn't used to Mark caring for me. "But, you have many girlfriends," I replied, looking at his face in a challenging stance. "No," Mark drew near my face, and he used his right finger to wipe the ice cream off my lips and licked it. My eyes widened in shock at his actions, as it felt like he had already kissed me by touching my lips and licking his finger. "Mm…" I couldn't say the word or meet his face. What had come over him? I pondered, and before Mark could say another word, as I wanted him to leave me alone because I wasn't used to this part of him, I didn't know what had gotten into him. Did Mark wake up from the wrong side of his bed today? The other time, I had wondered why he defended me. And now, he was acting like I was his girlfriend... wait, did Mark have feelings for me? As I wanted to send him away so that I could eat my food in peace and think about my life, his phone rang with an incoming call from his father. "Excuse me, Olivia, I will join you soon," Mark said, as he moved away from me to answer his call. I breathed heavily as his masculine scent of fresh grass faded from my nostrils. Quickly, I grasped the ice cream spoon and ate it faster before Mark would finish his call, as he answered the call in the room. He stood a few distances away from my bed.Olivia's POV:"Hmm, the food smells delicious. I thought Mark didn't like you, why then did he buy this expensive meal for you?" Erica asked, as she moved to take a seat in the room, clearly not ready to go home.I shrugged. "I do not know. Maybe he just feels concerned about how his family treated me.""Mmm. I heard his coach's daughter's birthday is tomorrow. Are you going to attend it? Rita is going to be 18 tomorrow and find her mate. Do you think that Mark might be Rita's mate? With the way she openly gawked at him, and she is among the Yellow Ballers cheerleaders, do you not think that there's a possibility that she could be his mate?"I nearly choked on my meal as I coughed out. Luckily, Erica quickly helped me with a bottle of water as she brought it from her bag."I do not think so. Although, I know that Mark has many girlfriends. So why would Rita want to waste her time picking him as her mate? Unless it's the moon goddess's choice for them," I said, but I felt my voice beco
Olivia's POV:"Mark, where are you?" I heard Mr. Wren's voice boom over the call. He didn't appreciate me calling him Dad—a constant reminder that he was not my real father, even though he had adopted me alongside his wife."Dad, I am in the hospital," Mark replied, his voice calm as he ran a hand over his short black wavy hair."Why are you in the hospital? I hope it's not because of Olivia that you went there. Your mother spoke about Olivia waking up today," Mr. Wren asked, and Mark hummed."Yes, Dad. I had to come and check on Olivia because she is my sister, and I was the one who brought her to the hospital for admission," he said, as I finished my ice cream and licked my lips.Mark looked at me with his shining yellow eyes, and our gazes locked, but I swiftly lowered my head, feeling my heart thudding faster in my chest. Why do I feel this way? Why am I so uncomfortable around Mark?"Is there anything going on between you and Olivia, Mark? Why do you seem to care so much about he

Mark's POV:Olivia was absentmindedly dressing in her room, so I hurriedly slipped out after seeing her náked. Thankfully, she didn't participate in any pack's activity because she did not have a wolf. Also, she has never celebrated her birthday before, as we only assumed her age. Mom and Dad didn't know who Olivia's real parents were. Except for the fact that she was dumped in a basket in front of the pack's orphanage home.I felt a pressing desire to protect Olivia, to claim her as mine. And I believe maybe that was why my parents had adopted her.Looking away from Emily's stern face, I smiled at Ava and said, "I came to shop for my lunch.""That's fine, Mark. I'm sorry that I missed coming to watch your basketball game against the Red Ballers. I was busy in class and I couldn't miss it," she said, her hand reaching out to touch my chiseled chest as she bit her bottom lip seductively.Stepping away from Ava's touch, I replied, "It's nothing that you should worry about. It's just a f
Mark's POV:"Wait, Mark! Where are you rushing to? We want to have a little celebration party for winning against the Red Ballers now, and yet, you're in a hurry. Is there something that you're hiding from us?" Daniel asked, moving forward to meet me. His gaze fixed on me coldly as he smirked.I didn't like how Daniel Ryan pointed out his questions, drawing the attention of our colleagues."It's personal. And I do not need to tell you," I replied, my voice calm, my eyes meeting Daniel's gaze. He was angry because Olivia rejected his advance toward her before he settled for Emily. How was that my fault?"Don't lie to us, Mark!" Daniel yelled, his eyes shooting daggers at me. "If at all you want to lie, you should have a little respect for Alpha Bryan!""Let him go, Daniel. I have no interest in what Mark wants to go and do. And since he said it's personal, you don't have to pick on him," Bryan chimed in, his voice gentle and trying to settle the rift between Daniel and me."Daniel, Bry
Olivia's POV:The sound of Mark's phone ringing broke the awkward silence, and he said, "I have to go now, Olivia. Take care."Mark darted out of the room, and I breathed out heavily, feeling exhausted. A nurse arrived with a health worker who served me breakfast as I saw that it was past 11 a.m.It was a plate of custard and two bean cakes."How do you feel?" the female nurse asked me with a friendly smile on her pretty brown face, and I saw her resemblance to Dr. Sam. Also, she resembled Erica Robin, my schoolmate."I am fine," I said, my voice calm and she nodded with a smile, as she was tall, chubby, and had long brown thick hair. She packed it in a ponytail, wearing a white nurse cap on her head."Alright. Take care of yourself. I'm Nurse Hazel Owen. Dr. Sam's elder sister. I'm married with two kids," she introduced herself with a soft voice, and I could feel my heart flutter at her words."Nice to meet you, Nurse Hazel," I replied, peering at her beautiful face. As I wondered wh
