CHAPTER 51

ALEXIS' POV

"Did you just finish fucking Randall in his bedroom?"

The whole gathering abruptly goes silent at the question thrown at me and even I can feel my entire system shut off. What kind of question is she asking me? Does she honestly think I was having sex with Randall all the while I've been away? How could she point accusing fingers at me when she is the one whose hands are soiled?

"Uh..." my eyes scan their faces and lands on Donovan's expectant face. He looks vulnerable now as if my reply would either break or make him.

"No, we weren't having sex." I gulp and finally answer. I can see the tension in Donovan's rigid body lessen as she sighs and look downcast. Would it really have affected him if I had said yes to the question? My aim was to hurt him. Why am I not doing just that, then?
