Chapter 2. Meeting The Sabatini Brothers

Rose’s POV

"What?! The Sabatini brothers who are known not to stand each other?" I asked in shock as Marco nodded slowly, as if scared that I would change my mind. I sighed deeply and studied the man for a while. What the hell am I getting into?

"What exactly is my job?" I asked.

"To teach them how to love each other," another voice interrupted as a man in an electric wheelchair rolled in from an adjoining room. Though he looked sickly, an aura of authority was visible around him.

"Mr. Giovanni Sabatini," I said almost in a whisper as I stared at the old man. The owner of the largest conglomerates in the country. Everyone in the county knew him.

"Nice to meet you, Miss Renata Arturo," he said with a smile on his frail face. Although this man was retired due to his rumored illness and now has one of his grandsons running the company, he still exudes that charm of authority.

"Hi—" I said quickly as I realized I was beginning to stammer. I must not give them the idea that I wasn't Renata.

"Like my secretary has explained, we would like it if you agree to our proposal. I need you to help my boys, Miss Renata," he said calmly as I chuckled, trying to hide the fact that I was nervous.

"You said you want me to teach them to love each other?" I asked.

"Yes. Like a family specifically," he replied. "You see, even though these boys live under the same roof, they barely get along. They all live as strangers, and it hurts me deeply. My health is failing me, and I can't rest in peace knowing that my grandsons hate each other more than strangers," he said as I nodded slowly. Everyone in the country knew the Sabatini brothers. Born from different mothers but one father, these boys were rumored to have deep enmity within them.

"I understand you, Mr. Sabatini. But I am just a psychologist. I can't force people to love each other if they don't want to. People make their own choices," I said calmly as I remembered my late father. That crazy old bastard.

"200 million dollars as a deposit if you agree," he said as I blinked rapidly. What the hell? This man is serious and desperate. But the fact that I am just a con-artist and don't even know anything about psychology troubled me.

"I—"

"250," Mr. Giovanni cut me short as my mouth remained open, leaving the remaining words unsaid.

"Deal," I didn't know when I replied with a wide smile. I can't let go of this money, ever. Worse comes to worst, I would just leave the country and go hide on some isolated island. For now, let's focus on bagging this money.

Mr. Giovanni's lips curved into a smile. "Thank you, Miss Renata," he said as I nodded.

"No, thank you," I thought in my head as the thought of that six figures in my account made me swell with joy.

"Before we go ahead with signing the contract, I have two conditions for you, Miss Renata," he said as my heart skipped. What does this old man want again? I thought in fear as I maintained the smile.

"Go on," I said.

"You will be on probation for a week to see how well you do your job before the deposit will be added to your account... Not that we doubt your capabilities," he said quickly when he noticed the slight frown on my face. "But I just want you to sit tight and get the job done. I have only a few months to live, and I am quite desperate," he said as I bit my lips. The cunning old man. What the hell am I going to do in a week to make specific progress?

"Fine," I said, my greediness taking over my normal thinking senses.

"Great," he smiled in satisfaction and continued. "The second condition is you not having any form of romance with them, Miss Renata. Throughout your stay with the boys, there should be no romantic relationship between you and any of them. The moment you do, it will be considered a breach of contract, and you will be fined for it," he said as I chuckled. Easy peasy, I wasn't a fan of love. The only thing I care about was money.

"Deal," I stretched my hand towards him with confidence.

"Let's make magic happen, Miss Renata," he shook my hand as I turned to Marco, who had a big smile on his face. I couldn't believe I caught a big fish finally. The one deal that would change my miserable life.

**************************

“Wow,” I exclaimed, staring at the exotic living room adorned with luxurious furniture.

“Miss Renata,” Marco called calmly, snapping me out of my reverie. I turned to look at the Secretary.

“Will I live here?” I asked in awe, my grip tightening on the handle of my suitcase.

After my meeting with Mr. Giovanni, he had asked me to move in the next day. I knew they were rich, but this house looked like a palace where princes lived.

“Yes, with the brothers,” he replied. “But I must warn you, they aren’t exactly friendly,” he added.

“Wow, thanks for the heads up, Mr. Marco. I did my research on them. It’s like I’m walking into a lion’s den,” I replied with a nervous chuckle. I can’t believe I’m doing this.

“Just call me Marco,” he replied with a smile, glancing at his watch. “I asked them to be here; I wonder why they aren’t,” he muttered to himself, his expression apprehensive. I guessed ‘they’ were the brothers.

“Marco, boy! What does Mr. Giovanni have-“ A voice reverberated through the room from the doorway. Marco and I turned to find one of the brothers, Vicente, the popular playboy and music star, smiling and staring at me as if I were a precious antique he wanted to acquire.

“Mate!” My wolf shouted happily as my heart raced. What the hell?! He looked even more attractive than in the pictures. How can someone be so cute?

“Woaw. Woaw. Woaw. Who do we have here? A pretty doll,” he smirked as he walked slowly towards me, his hands in his pockets, making it feel like breathing had become hard for me.

“She is Mr. Giovanni's guest. Please mind your manners,” Marco said quickly as he came between us.

A slight frown formed on Vicente’s face. “Move,” he glared at him.

“I-”

“What is the ruckus all about?” Another voice interrupted as we turned to see someone descending the stairs, his eyes lingering on me lazily.

“Mateeee!” My wolf resurfaced again as it felt like I would stumble.

“Shut up, Arya,” I grumbled to my wolf as I swallowed hard.

What the hell is happening to me?

I tried to hold my composure as Valerio advanced closer.

When he finally shifted his gaze to Marco, I silently thanked God. “I was in the middle of something. Why did Grandpa ask for us?” He asked as my eyes lingered on his face, the way his unruly hair fell on his face. God, he was beautiful.

“I can’t believe we got to see our Valerio today. Sometimes I forget you live here too,” Vicente cut in with a smirk as he stared at his brother.

“Don’t talk to me. We are not close,” Valerio eyed him.

“Come on, boys. Mr. Giovanni said to behave with the guest around,” Marco cut in, as if he was used to the banter.

“If he didn’t want issues, he should have met us separately. You know we can’t stand each other,” Vicente hissed as Valerio scoffed. “Loser.”

“What was that?” Vicente asked as Valerio gave him a mischievous smile. “You heard me,” he said as Vicente clenched his fist.

“Where is grandfather?” The door opened as the last brother walked in, staring at all of them as if in shock.

“And why are these people in my sight?” He asked, looking at his brothers.

You are in trouble, Rose. I thought as I could see the evident hate in Valentino’s eyes, while my Wolf growled again. “Your mate!”
