*Rylee*
On Friday evening, I was in the pack’s hotel working as a cleaner when my phone rang. I held a mop in my right hand and reached for my phone to see who was calling. It was my best friend, Elizabeth Brown. “Hey, Elizabeth. What’s up?” I asked. It was past 8 p.m. and the surroundings had turned dark. “Hey, Rylee! Where are you?” Elizabeth asked, and I could hear the nervousness in her voice. “Where else could I be? I’m in the pack’s hotel working as a cleaner, on the sixth floor,” I told her. “Good. Come to the first floor. Nash is about to propose to another lady there.” “What?!” I gasped. I felt the blood drain from my face. Nash Cameron had been my boyfriend for five years. I supported him through college, believing that once he graduated he would marry me. How could he do this to me? How could he betray me at the time I needed him most? “You’re lying, Elizabeth. I cannot believe Nash would cheat on me. He loves me,” I told my best friend, unable to digest the idea. I knew Nash and I were not true mates. But he loved me. He cared for me despite knowing I was an orphan in this pack. “Rylee, I cannot lie to you. Hurry and come to the lobby now, unless you don’t want to crash this. I’m sending you a picture of the two of them.” Elizabeth quickly ended the call. My eyes widened in shock as the text notification appeared on my phone. I looked at the phone screen and was shocked to see a picture of my boyfriend, Nash Cameron, on his knees. He wore a crisp white shirt, black trousers, and a pair of polished black shoes. His hands held a ring box as he proposed to the lady in front of him. Tears welled in my eyes as I tried to look at the young woman’s face. She was younger than me. I am a 20-year-old woman. I didn’t have a wolf or a mate, but Nash promised to marry me despite knowing that. He had never had sex with me and said we would do it after he married me. Little did I know he had lied to me and tricked me into giving him all my salary as a cleaner in this pack's hotel. My teary eyes wouldn’t let me see the photo of the lady Nash had proposed to clearly. I immediately let go of the mop and rushed into the elevator, heading down to the first floor to find out if the image was real or AI-generated. When I reached the first floor, I saw many young people gathered, cheering for the lady to say yes. She looked so emotional, tears of joy welling in her eyes. This was my boyfriend of five years, Nash Cameron. How could he do this to me? “Nash!!” I yelled his name. The crowd that had gathered and been cheering parted to let me through. “Nash, what’s the meaning of this? Why are you proposing to her and not me?” I asked, trying to contain my anger. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Why would he do this to me? “Rylee, what are you doing here? Please wait. I will explain everything to you,” Nash said. He refused to get up from the floor. He was still holding the golden ring, waiting for the young woman to say yes. I looked away from Nash's face to the young woman’s face and saw that she was our Beta’s daughter, Bella Harvey. Nash’s yellow eyes glowed, confirming they were true mates. Bella screamed, “Yes, Nash. I will marry you and I accept you as my mate.” My heart shattered. I couldn’t stand there like an idiot and keep watching them. I immediately ran and made my way to the second floor, where the club was. “Rylee! Rylee!” I heard Nash’s voice as he rushed into the elevator to catch up with me. “Let me go, Nash! What do you want from me again?” I asked, smacking his hands away when he tried to touch my arms. “Rylee, I am so sorry. I always thought I had no mate. Bella just turned 18 and she is my true mate. You know I cannot reject her. It’s against our pack rules for mates to reject their true mate,” Nash tried to explain. As soon as the elevator stopped, I told him in the coldest voice I could muster, “Get out! I do not want to ever see your face again. You lied to me. You used me. Didn’t your mother reject her true mate to marry her boyfriend? Why can’t you do the same?” Tears of betrayal filled my eyes. “Rylee, you are aware that my grandfather cut ties with my mother because of that mistake. I thought I had no mate. I am sorry, Rylee. I am really sorry. Everyone in this pack knows that I love you. Please…” Nash tried to touch my face, but I smacked his hands away and stepped back. “It’s over, Nash. Completely over! Stay away from me and go back to your true mate!” I turned away as tears flooded down my cheeks. “I love you, Rylee. Please try to understand me!” Nash pleaded, but I moved away from him and went to the bartender for a drink. The music in the club was loud, so many people might not have heard Nash. My best friend, Elizabeth Brown, rushed into the bar of the pack hotel to find me. “Rylee, what are you doing, trying to drink and drown yourself in alcohol? Come, let’s go home,” Elizabeth said, reaching to take the wine glass from me. “Stay away from me, Elizabeth. I need this,” I cried, grabbing the bottle from her hands and chugging it instead of sipping from the glass. “Rylee!” Elizabeth exclaimed. She knew I was an Omega, considered almost like a human because I had no wolf and no strength. But I smacked her hands away. “Stay away from me, Elizabeth! What can you do to help me? Are you going to give me a new mate? You have your mate, Kelvin Owen. Do you know the agony that comes with being mateless at twenty?” I asked her in a loud voice despite the music booming in the club. Elizabeth looked guilty and apologized. “I’m sorry, Rylee. I’m only looking out for you.” “You’re not. Just get out and let me enjoy my night before I cut my friendship with you. When I need you, I’ll send for you,” I told her. She looked hurt by my words. Elizabeth was an Omega, like me, so she couldn’t blame me for becoming harsh. Five good years of dating Nash Cameron. I supported him even when his Alpha’s relatives refused to help him. Nash’s mother was our Alpha’s first daughter, but she rejected her true mate for her boyfriend, who was a palace guard. Because of that sin, our Alpha sent her away from the palace. She had to live a hard life and could not provide for Nash’s college education. I supported Nash throughout university, buying him handouts and covering several tuition payments even though I wasn’t a graduate. Yet he left me for his true mate. What has his true mate done for him? Now Nash had graduated as the best in his class in cybersecurity. And he chose another woman over me. As I drank my liquor and ordered another bottle, my gaze landed on a pair of deep blue eyes watching me like a hawk.Rylee's POV:After Nash left the room, Levi walked up to my bed and asked me, "Sis, are you really going to have a baby?" He peered at my stomach, and I nodded."Yeah. I don't know who the father is.""How is that possible? Don't you know the man?" He asked, appearing disappointed as he knew the rules governing the Dark Shadow Pack."I cannot remember him. I was drunk. It was the night Nash found his mate. I was heartbroken, and I became drunk. It's not even up to a week. How can I become pregnant so fast?" I muttered, and Levi sighed."Maybe he's an elite who got you pregnant. I heard their blood is faster and more active than we Omegas," he sighed, but I wasn't doubting that. Was the man Alpha Malakai? I pondered in my heart, recalling how Alpha Malakai had held me closely and peered at my face.Even before I became sick, I recalled how he had caught me from falling, but Alpha Malakai cannot be with an Omega like me. It's against the pack rule.I thought about the moment he licked m
Rylee's POV:"Rylee!" Levi exclaimed as I vomited in the plate cover. Thankfully, he quickly shut the food so I wouldn't vomit inside of it."What's wrong with you?" Levi asked, his eyes filled with tears, and I shook my head and replied, "I don't know. I feel like my tummy is tying knots and tangling up. I feel sick.""Rylee…" Levi started sobbing, thinking I was poisoned and he was going to lose me."Why, what's going on there?" a female nurse in charge of the public women's ward walked up to meet us and said, "This is a public ward. You both cannot cry here, and why are you crying?" she asked, as she was a young nurse."Nurse, my sister is dying. Her tummy is tying knots, and she feels nauseous," Levi sobbed, unconcerned about the other patients peering at us."She is my only family, Nurse. She cannot die," Levi sobbed, clutching the Nurse's arm to save me."Calm down, young man. Your sister is not dying. What did you say your symptoms are again?" she asked, and I explained my symp
Rylee's POV:"What?!" Bella gasped, Elizabeth and I both did too."Nash, don't!" I placed a hand on him, but he held me back and said, "Rylee, it's for the best. I will not accept a mate who treats me poorly, insults me any time she pleases, looks down on my friends, and doesn't respect me or our mate bond. We are not dating again, but Bella clearly misunderstood and insults me," Nash said, sounding serious."Don't reject Bella. Just try and explain. I will not be your friend if you reject your mate because of me," I said, my voice serious, and Nash nodded."Fine."Swiftly, I grabbed Elizabeth's hand and darted out of the restaurant, leaving Nash and Bella to settle their misunderstanding."Wow, that was intense, Rylee, but I think Nash is right. Bella is so full of herself, and she lost her pride now," Elizabeth said as we went to look for a taxi."I know," I sighed, overwhelmed by everything."I would like to stop by a pharmacy to get some medicine. I feel unwell," I said, still fee
Rylee's POV: My heart was still pounding in my chest as I rushed back to Elizabeth and stood panting at her table. Elizabeth had nearly finished her meal, having eaten half of it, but she helped me cover my plate, since I hadn't even waited to do so. Observing how quickly I'd rushed back to the table, Elizabeth frowned and asked, "Rylee, what's wrong? Who was chasing you?" Exhaling heavily, I sighed and settled into my seat. I figured it wouldn't be fair to run home and leave Elizabeth behind. After all, I was famished, but I'd already lost my appetite and felt unwell. "Who else but Nash? He won't take no for an answer and he's still pestering me. How many times do I have to explain that I don't want him, especially since he's already mated?" I exclaimed, and Elizabeth looked at me with empathy. "Nash is so stubborn. I suggest you report him to the pack court to call him to order," she said, and I sighed heavily. "Mm. You're right, but I've already lost my appetite and I feel si
Rylee's POV: As I stood by the roadside waiting for a cab to take me home, I spotted Elizabeth. She had just finished her shift as a nurse, dressed in her white top, black skirt, and shoes. "Rylee, where are you going at this time of day? Have you finished work?" Elizabeth asked, excitedly walking up to me. She worked at the Pack's Hospital, and I assumed she was on the afternoon shift. The Pack's Hospital wasn't far from the Pack's Hotel. They were all controlled by Alpha Malakai, since he was the Alpha's son. I frowned, remembering how Beta Fabian had warned me to stay away from the tenth floor, not caring that he was embarrassing me. "Rylee!" Elizabeth exclaimed, reaching me and enveloping me in a warm hug. "Where are you off to? Were you sent on an errand?" She asked, her voice soft. I smiled and hailed a cab. As Elizabeth and I were about to get in, she said, "Let's stop by a restaurant first. I'm hungry." "Alright," I agreed, not protesting, as I was feeling famished too.
Alpha Malakai's POV: Fabian entered my office as I sat behind my desk, and I caught Rylee's scent on him. My nose perked up as I looked at his face. "What do you want? And why do you have a feminine fragrance on you?" Though I wasn't sure if it was indeed Rylee's scent, as I was aware that she had no wolf or scent. But the perfume that Rylee used was similar to the faint lingering scent that I perceived on Fabian. As an Alpha, I had sharp reflexes, and my sensory organs worked faster than a normal werewolf in my pack. "Nothing. I came over with the business report, as you requested," Fabian said, and I sighed, seeing that he ignored my direct questions regarding the female whose perfume he was wearing. "True. Have a seat," I gestured to Fabian, knowing that I had a week's leave after my wedding and the upcoming Luna Selection. I had to go on a compulsory one-month vacation with my mate. I wasn't in the mood for this, but I knew that I had to follow the pack laws and the principl
Rylee's POV:"Hello, I am Rylee Martin. A cleaner here in this pack hotel," I tell the secretary who was dressed in a white top and black trousers. She was the senior secretary of Alpha Malakai."Yes. How may I help you?" She asked me, and I looked at her name badge.Snr. Secretary: Elsa Dominic."
Rylee's POV:I gulped hard as I made my way to the 7th floor. As soon as the elevator stopped, I anxiously walked out, breathing heavily as I went to the first room to clean it.There were up to 50 rooms on this floor.I gulped hard and began my cleaning job, to give you an idea of how big this Hot
Alpha Malakai's POV:"Alpha, I am not pleased with what you asked me to do. I will not help that Omega again," Fabian complained to me through our mind link.I was silent before I asked him, "Have you taken her home safely?""Yes, Alpha. This will be the last time that I am helping that Omega again
Rylee's POV:"Rylee, please calm down. I do not think that this driver meant any harm," Elizabeth said, and I looked at her face, then to the same cab driver who was a man in his early 30s."Why are you taking his side, Elizabeth? I do not trust him, and that's a fact. What if he was hired to keep
