Go Out With Me

Angry howling filled the air as the wolves protested. They turned their bloodlust towards Selena, who still sat crouched near the cage.

“WHY?!?!” They roared, foaming at the mouth.

“Can you say for sure this is Lycan?” Selena protested, glaring back at them.

The group kept their stare strong as they kept growling, inching closer and closer with each passing second. “A werewolf this strong is too much of a risk to let loose.” A nearby Alpha grumbled.

He had buzzed gray hair and deep scars running from either corners of his jaw up through his eyes and to his forehead, connecting in the middle. His empty, white eyes seared through Selena’s soul. He was twice the size of the next nearby werewolf and was wearing a white shirt with its sleeves rolled up and black pants that were about to burst.

“Sir Arthur, if we don’t confirm his identity we’d be killing an innocent werewolf!” Selena protested.

Arthur growled as he took a step forwards, placing his large hand on the cage, denting a bit of the metal as he put more of his weight onto it. “That’s one less opponent we’d have to deal with.” His low, grizzled voice resonated with the other werewolves.

The group inched closer once again, more bloodthirsty than ever.

“Anyone who gets closer will have to deal with me.” Lio shouted as he stepped in front of Selena.

He started shifting as his skin became hidden with fur allowing a dark gray wolf to now replace his body. “How dare you disobey the orders of our Alpha!” He shouted.

The bloodlust died down a bit as some of the werewolves took a step back. Uncertainty began to fill them as they turned towards Arthur.

“If any of you think you should make the decision on what to do with Lycan then come forward and challenge Selena!” Lio continued to shout.

Once again they all shifted backwards, worried now more than uncertain. They started nudging each other and shuffling their feet as a few looked towards Arthur.

“What do you say Arthur!” Lio turned towards him, snarling and crouching low.

Arthur took his hand off the cage and turned around, slowly walking towards the elevator as werewolves moved out of his way. “I have no desire to become the Alpha of this alliance, however I don’t agree with Lady Selena’s decision.” He barely fit into the large metal box before disappearing behind the closing doors.

The other werewolves looked unsure of what to do.

Selena rose to her feet. “If no one wants to challenge me,” She roared, “Then move out of my way!”

As quickly as they could, the group parted, creating a long pathway for Selena towards the elevator.

Samson watched in awe as the entire pack followed her command despite being against her just a moment ago. “So this is what it means to be the Alpha…” He murmured to himself, slowly realizing this job might be harder than he first thought.

With the help of Lio, Selena took the smaller chains off Samson, keeping the large ones around his neck, wrists, feet and torso still attached. With no remorse she kicked him along, pushing him into the elevator, then into the car, then to her home. She continued to kick him until they arrived at the basement of their home. Before she took him down, she grabbed a silver pair of bracelets and snapped them onto Samson’s wrists, next to the handcuffs, biting her thumb before rubbing the blood onto them. With a sharp snap they tightened.

“Well, what are you waiting for, get in!” Selena growled once they had gotten down.

Samson looked around, studying the room. It was dark and musty, covered in a brown stone. Across from him was a large prison cell with a wooden bed in it. Just outside the cell were barrels and sacks of rarely used vegetables while to the left was a large crack in the wall, its extremities touching the ceiling. The smell of salt and blood wafted off it, catching his attention.

“Hurry up and get in!” Selena angrily kicked him forwards into the cell, locking the door quickly behind him.

She turned around, making her way towards the staircase when Samson finally spoke. “Wait.” He said emptily.

Selena stopped, wondering what the head of the Lacquer Clan had to say to her.

“Go out with me.” Samson asked.

A surge of anger filled Selena as she spun around. “LIKE HELL I WOULD!!!” She shouted.

Quickly, she stomped her way towards the cage, slamming her foot against one of the bars. “Do you know what you and your clan have done to us?” She asked, foaming at the mouth.

She’s mad?! Samson thought to himself, wondering what he’d done wrong.

Calm down, calm down, what would Lycan do? He asked himself.

“We did what had to be done, but that’s all going to change now,” Samson impersonated, “Because you’re special to me.”

Selena slammed her foot against the bar again, majorly bending it as she brought her face closer to him. “Slaughtering patrols, using them as target practice, raiding our territory in broad daylight, hunting us down like we’re some sort of game…” She started.

“Was that all something that had to be done?” Her anger fully visible now.

“Violently murdering each scout in front of another, cruelly kidnapping and brainwashing our pups, is that all something that had to be done?!” She slammed her foot into the bar once again.

Samson listened, attempting to interject but not seeing an opportunity.

“Picking up pups off the street and training them to do your bidding!” She yelled.

Samson snapped. “WHAT HAS THE ALLIANCE DONE THEN!!” He roared.

Shocked, Selena took a step back.

Be careful child, Penny advised her.

“Mass patrols into territories you know aren't yours, useless engagements, pointless scouting…” Samson named the few he could remember, “You send your fighters into our territory then blame us for killing them!”

Samson looked into her eyes, letting every bit of his anger out. “We aren’t playing a game, this is real life.” He growled.

Blood rushed to Selena’s head. “I don’t need some bloodthirsty freak to tell me that!” She protested.

“Oh really? It clearly sounds like you did!” Samson retorted.

Selena crossed her arms. “What was that you said earlier? Go out with you?” Selena asked.

“I wouldn’t stand next to you even if you were dead!!” She roared at him.

“Glad to know we’re on the same page for something!” Samson shouted back.

“Ugh! Now we’re agreeing huh!? I don’t have time for this, I have an important meeting with my only ally thanks to a certain mutt that I can’t miss tomorrow!” She shouted as she made her way upstairs and to her room.

“I wouldn’t want to be breathing the same air as a bonehead anyway!” Samson shouted back at her as he aggressively laid down on the bed.

Rage filled each of them as they un-eagerly awaited the next day, not knowing the events of it would bring them closer than they’d ever hoped to be.
