An Intercepted Call

It was early in the morning when Samson woke up. He could still hear the crickets chirping when his eyes slowly slid open. The room being dark as ever made it difficult to see at first but as his eyes adjusted he realized something was different.

The prison cell door was open.

What do you think Skull? Samson asked.

MMmm, steak… The drowsy voice bounced around in his head.

Right… Samson sighed as he pushed himself off the bed.

Like they were made of paper, Samson effortlessly tore the chains off his body, being unable to get rid of the silver bracelets he shrugged and made his way outside. He moved to the cracked wall, investigating it thoroughly. Despite the scent of blood being so faint, he could still make out the bloodlust that lingered around it. When he crouched low he saw small salt crystals, barely visible to the normal eye.

“They tortured someone here… or brutally killed them.” Samson murmured to himself as he made his way upstairs.

As he opened the door, he entered a giant, open roof living room. There were floor to roof windows to his right that showed an intricately decorated backyard with a large pair of spiral staircases to his left that spiraled above him. Across the living room was a larger than needed kitchen with three fridges and four ovens that lead into a smaller kitchen. Slightly behind the living room was a small hallway that led to a room and above he could see both floors and their foyers.

“Rich…” Samson mumbled as he made his way towards the stairs.

As he heaved himself onto the first step a light but shrill ringing caught his attention. With pace, he made his way towards it. It got louder when he got onto the second floor and even louder as he walked down the hallway in front of him. As he approached the large, mahogany double doors that lay at the end of it the ringing stopped for a few seconds before starting again, confirming it came behind the doors.

Carefully, he opened the door on the right, taking him into an office of sorts. The right and left walls had been replaced with giant bookshelves holding binders of different colors while on the right bookshelf there was a large, rectangular cutout inside which was a picture of a werewolf. The wall opposite the door had been replaced with large windows from which the San Francisco skyline could beautifully be seen. In the middle of the room was a colorful rug on top of which sat a mahogany table and an office chair. The house phone on top of the table was the source of the ringing, still making a shrill sound.

Without thinking twice Samson picked up the phone. “Lady Selena, about last night, while I do agree with the other Alphas, I wanted to respect your decision…” Samson recognized the voice to be Lio’s.

“As such, I will be on your side but the moment we find that prisoner to be the warmongering Lycan I will ask for his head.” Lio finished.

“What did you call me?” Samson’s rough voice silenced the man on the other side.

Samson closed his eyes as he turned around to face the city. “A warmonger? Ask for my head?” Samson reiterated, “Come and take it instead of hiding behind a phone.”

More white noise filled the line before Lio started again. “Where’s Selena?” he asked coldly.

Samson smirked. “In bed, where else would she be?” Samson impersonated Lycan.

Suddenly the tone of the voice changed. “And why are you answering the phone?” Lio’s hostility could be felt from the phone.

A coldness grew in Samson’s eyes and heart. “Cause I’m free you dumbass.” Samson turned around, locating where Lio had been calling from.

“What have you done with Selena?” Lio growled.

Samson stared at the direction of the faint bloodlust. “I told you, she’s in bed, but more importantly, you better hide that bloodlust, it makes you easier to find…” Samson threatened.

The tension between them grew stronger and stronger.

                                                                   ***

A gentle warmth grew around Selena as she shifted to a more comfortable position, letting the drowsiness overtake her. She felt like she had forgotten something but sleep was too important right now. Very quickly, she faded out of consciousness and back into the dream world where she was on a date with a charming man.

Just as the sleep was about to overtake her, a powerful bloodlust scared her awake. She shot upwards, claws at the ready as she looked around, checking every corner of her room. Once she saw that no one was present she checked the time on her phone. Her veins froze. She leaped out of bed and sprinted down the hall and down one flight of stairs. She continued running until she entered her office.

“I’m late!” She shouted as she entered.

Once again, Samson’s heart started pounding and the butterflies started squirming when he saw Selena. She was in an oversized t-shirt and shorts with her hair hanging freely behind her.

She pressed him. “Who’s that on the phone?” She asked angrily.

“Don’t tell me…” She looked red with anger.

Samson put his emotions aside and tossed her the phone. “It’s for you.” He said as he pulled back the office chair and slumped into it.

“Lady Selena,” Lio’s voice on the other side caused a worrisome fatigue to settle, “Is this why you took Lycan home?”

“Sir Lio, I don’t know what this bloodthirsty mutt has said to you but none of it’s true.” She pleaded her case.

Selena was worried about what Samson had told Lio but what worried her more was that Lio was her only ally left in an otherwise angry pack. “So you weren’t just in bed?” Lio asked, surprising Selena.

Startled, Selena didn’t know if she should deny what he’d said or say the truth. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Samson place both his legs on her table and smirk at her.

“Sir Lio, I was just in bed but not in the way the mutt told you.” She slowly made her way towards Samson.

White noise filled the phone before Lio asked another question. “Why is he free then?”

Selena was unsure of how to answer as she grabbed Samson by the scruff. “I’d love to know that as well!” She glared at him.

More white noise filled the phone before the words that Selena least wanted to hear were spoken. “I’m sorry Lady Selena, but I can no longer wholeheartedly support you.” Lio said.

  • Mated to an Alpha, Starstruck by a Killer   And So, It Begins...

After a few minutes Selena was ready. She had put on a blue, long sleeve top, patterned with ridges and two buttons to expose more or less of her chest over a pair of light blue jeans. She looked at herself in the mirror, unsure of what the day was to hold for her. It’ll be alright dear, you’re not alone this time. Penny’s voice echoed in her head. A small smile crept onto Selena’s face at the thought of her words, relaxing her a little. I know, She replied before grabbing a small black satchel, pulling it over her head and leaving her room. Making sure to take her time, Selena slowly drifted down the stairs, hoping that Samson would be there, waiting for her. Once she reached the bottom floor, her heart sank as she saw no one but her mother in the large kitchen, reading from a magazine. Her heart started beating nervously, and her hands begged for something to fidget with. She took a shallow breath to calm herself and with her shaky legs, Selena slowly started moving towards her,

  • Mated to an Alpha, Starstruck by a Killer   Micheal's Vow

A slow tear-like headache woke Selena up. With a tight squint she let her eyes drift open, noticing she was still near the floor yet resting on something comfortable. Her eyes drifted down to notice a pair of legs below her head. A bloodchilling thought ran through her head, forcing her heart to roar to life, pounding rapidly and heavily as she turned her head slightly. The butterflies in her stomach had now multiplied and swarmed, hitting every possible wall and side. “Looks like you’re awake.” Samson’s voice came from above her head. With a jerk she sat up, bumping Samson’s head in the process. “GHA!” He reacted late, leaning backwards before rubbing his forehead as Selena sat up, facing away from him. “What was that for?!?!” He shouted, still rubbing his forehead. Selena refused to look at him. Her face felt like it was on fire, turning a shade of red she didn’t know it could as an awkward smile appeared on her face. “h-how long… was I sleeping for?” Her voice trailed into a wh

Selena smiled, overjoyed at the thought of becoming stronger. “But before that, what kind of ointment was in the med kit?” Samson asked, touching his ribs. “Ah that, it was something my father found, I don’t really know the name of it but I know it helps people heal quickly.” Selena responded cheerfully. Samson nodded, lowering his head. Selena watched as a serious expression grew on his face. A chill ran through her as she realized what he was doing. He’s not playing around like last time. She thought to herself. “The best way to learn is through experience, so I’m going to come at you for real.” He said, getting lower to the ground before sprinting towards her. With a small exhale, Selena assumed a boxing stance, keeping her hands open instead of in a tight fist. She watched him get closer, noticing he wasn’t doing anything out of the blue. Suddenly he pulled his right fist back. Adjusting to it, Selena shifted her weight to her left leg, bringing her arms out away from her b

  • Mated to an Alpha, Starstruck by a Killer   Time Crunch! Teach Me How to Fight!!

When Samson got up it was late morning, but despite that he couldn’t hear any noise coming from upstairs. Slowly he moved out of his bed, the aching in his chest now spread over to his back and legs as he stood. He took a deep breath, attempting to confirm his injury only to find no pain being present. He rubbed the bandages to make sure he wasn’t dreaming before noticing a slight heaviness around his eyes. He moved his hands up and touched it, discovering remnants of tears that had been smudged away. “Unnecessary memories…” He whispered before making his way upstairs to an empty living room. There was no sign of neither of Selena’s parents nor her brothers. Keeping his eyes floating around the room, Samson drifted around the area, spotting a phone on the kitchen countertop. “Hello?” He said loudly, letting the word echo a little. After noting the absence of footsteps, movement and any other noise, Samson picked up the phone and dialed the only number he knew. “Samson!” Rumbled L

  • Mated to an Alpha, Starstruck by a Killer   Nightmare from that Night!!

Kill me instead, let them go!!!! The phrase echoed in Samson’s head again. With a small groan he closed his eyes, regretting the fact that he had let go of the wolf in his head. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, hoping to fall asleep immediately. Hey! Make sure you stay together! Samson shouted as he rounded up the kids from that night near the edge of the, now destroyed, pack's territory, making sure there was a clear path behind them. Oh good, you’ve rounded them up, this’ll make it easier. Lola slowly appeared from the shadows behind him. Lola wait! Samson shouted. HEY! Israfel suddenly shouted, leaping out from behind the tree. You didn’t get rid of all of them?! Lola hissed at him. Samson walked up to Lola, his canines slowly growing. Are you questioning my work? He growled in her face. Watch your tone streetrat! Lola spat, Get him. I’ll make you a deal, Israphel started, my life for theirs, kill me instead, let them go! He shouted. He’s got an attitude, take hi

“Is here fine?” Haley asked as she pulled up in front of Selena’s mansion. “Mm… Yea.” Selena said groggily as she stepped out of the car. Samson closed his eyes and rested his head against the seat, preparing for the waves of pain about to hit. With a sharp breath, he opened the door and grabbed the side of the car. A burning throb shot through his chest, freezing his lungs as he attempted to pull himself out of the car. “GH!” He grunted as he slowly rose to his feet, still holding his side as the throb morphed into a powerful ache. With a quick step, Selena moved to his side, putting his arm over her shoulder, she slowly rose up, matching his pace. Once Samson was able to stand up, she looked at him with a slight V forming in her eyebrows and an upset look in her eyes. “You know you can ask for help.” She said with a slight pout. Having rested a bit in the car, his head was a bit clearer. He resumed the facade. “I’m not so weak that I need assistance yet.” He growled, stepping a
