CHAPTER 2

TAYLOR'S POV

Although I said yes, my heart was plagued with second-guesses all day long. And even when I had finally made it there, I still thought of turning around but Delaney’s perfect timing saved the day.

“For a second, I actually thought you wouldn't make it.” She said, enveloping me into a warm hug.

“I had to or you would have killed me.”

She patted my back gently. “You better not forget that.”

I chuckled, finding it funny although there was something about her tone that made me feel like it wasn't supposed to be a joke.

Delaney led me to a nice spot beside the big fire made of tons of giant logs. We sat alone. I glanced around. There was no one close to us. Everyone was standing in one corner or the other chewing at their partner's lips.

She was right about the privacy and the icky romance too.

“Here.” Delaney held a cup of beer to me, smiling childishly.

“No. I pass.”

She frowned. “Do you think I didn't notice? You walk with a limp. Zephyr bullied you again, didn't he?”

I avoided her upset gaze.

“Taylor. You are in pain. You need relief. The drugs won't help. They are bad for you. But this will.” She came closer. Holding my gaze. There was care in her eyes. Genuine worry about me.

“Trust me.”

I looked down at the cup. Delaney is never wrong. I took it from her and gulped down everything. I felt my throat burn. My injuries twitched. I gasped in pain.

She kept smiling the entire time. Not saying a word. I tried to hand the cup back to her but my hands felt really weak all of a sudden. I looked down.

Everything split into two. The ground beneath us blurred in my eyes and my mind felt so hazy. Suddenly I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.

‘What's going on?’

It was as though the world started spinning. I lifted my gaze to meet Delaney’s face. She grinned.

‘Wait… no. It can't be. Delaney… what did you do?’

*********

“Here is fine. Leave her here.”

“Come on, hurry with those sticks.”

The whispers continued. My eyes flickered, I tried to keep it open but I was so woozy and so weak. I couldn't even lift an eyelid. My body felt like it weighed a ton and the pain in my legs was throbbing again.

“Should I tie her down before she wakes up?”

Someone asked, their voice was so familiar. I tried again to look. This time it worked. My gaze fell on him. A puny wolf boy with pale skin and roughed up clothes.

‘Jeffery. What the hell is he doing?’

He was shuddering, his face as white as a ghost. He hugged onto a big stick. Terrified was an understatement of how he felt.

He began to scare me too. I rolled my eyes around, There were others with him holding sticks too. But unlike him, they all wore nasty grins on their faces. They seemed to be enjoying this. Whatever it is.

“Who is gonna swing first?” One of them questioned. He was fiddling with his stick, eager to be the one.

“No way. Delaney goes first.”

I turned sharply. My neck snapped because of it. But I didn't notice. I was shocked. Delaney was standing a little away from me, swinging a batton.

‘No… no. This isn't… possible.’

Our eyes met and she held up her head, a devious look on her face.

“Yeah you are right. It's about time. I was really getting tired of this bitch parading herself like she has it all. This ought to teach her that filthy omegas keep their ugly heads down”

“Delaney-” tears pooled in my eyes. It all began to make sense to me. What this was and what she did.

There was this sick tradition to beat up a student every bonfire night. The school bullies made it up and they took turns picking a weak wolf who would be their dummy. I can't believe Delaney brought me here so I could be the dummy.

“What are you guys waiting for, let's do this already.” Someone yelled from their midst. Delaney’s hands gripped her batton and began to come towards me. I felt my gut sink and every bit of my body began to shiver.

I dug through the dirt with my claws, trying to crawl away. I could feel fear weigh down on me and my limbs refused to crawl with me. Tears blurred my vision.

I felt shivers crawl up my spin. This was real. They were really planning to hit me with that.

I whimpered in pain as my old wounds ripped open and my elbows scabbed by the pebbles on the sand.

Delaney swung the bat. It hit me right in the head. The world went dark instantly, it felt like my head burst open.

Screeching sounds filled my ears, everything else was quiet except for that. Another stick hit me on the side. Other blows followed. I covered my head and curled up like a ball. Their loud cheers filled the air.

Beating me was like comic relief to them. It got their adrenaline pumping and it made them more eager to do new damage.

Consciousness began to leave me. My mind went hazy and my body felt numb. My eyes wouldn't open anymore even though the power of the full moon made me heal fast.

My clenched fits unclenched. The tension in me seemed to slip away. I wasn't holding on anymore. I was tired of trying to survive.

The second before my eyes closed. I heard a mighty howl. I think It shook the entire place. The wolves froze on the spot. They all must have looked towards the sound.

I couldn't. I was phasing out. The last thing I could remember was the thudding of footsteps scampering off and firm big hairy hands lifting me into their arms. In the fading silence, I heard someone call out.

“Mate.”

TAYLOR’S POVI had been cooked up in my room for so long. Zephyr put me on lockdown literally. Only he could get in and out. I couldn’t leave for any reason. He flagged off all my explanations as my care free attitude making me forget the danger I was in. We bickered about this every time, for a while. Then I decided I had to do more than just talk. I wouldn’t let him strap me down like was too weak to even imagine a salvation for myself if I enter into trouble. So I gave him the silent treatment. I slept early and I woke up late. Honestly, I didn’t think ignoring him would work as well as it did until he woke me this morning and he said.“If I let you make one walk every week, will you stop shutting me out?” I kept a plain face but inside me, I was grinning from ear to ear.“No.” I had replied. “I will stop shutting you out if you let me train and let me make one walk every week.”A deep frown settled on his face, immediately. Like I had said the unspeakable. I felt to take my wo

ERETRIA He maintained radio silence for over a week until finally he contacted me. He dropped a venue and asked me to dress up like I was old and ill. He said he would be watching me. As a ghost, be couldn’t come into the light and be my escort, it was obvious. I dressed up, wrinkled my face, haggard my looks and found a walking stick then I went on foot towards the center he had told me. The closer I came, the more obvious it became what was happening. The pack doctor was organizing free medical care for old wolves that couldn’t get proper treatment because of the lock down. I fit myself into the crowd and followed it slowly until I can to the top. “Pack doctor Leo.” I spoke in a hoarse, shaking tone. “Am I dying?”“Lets not be quick to conclude. We need to be have you looked at first.” He said calmly, leading me into that giant tent. He helped me sit down on a soft blue wrapped bed. He turned his back on me and went around the room, picking up some medicinal tools to check wh

ERETRIA He found himself a place and sat next to me, making himself comfortable by my side. I leaned on his shoulder, watching the beautiful sunset. He was quiet the whole time. Like he always was except today it felt a bit different.“Is something bothering you?” I asked. “No.” was all he said and kept quiet again.“You can talk to me. You know you can. I’m always here for you. I can be whatever you want me to be.” I whispered. He heaved and rose to his feet, shoving me off like I wasn’t even important.“If you are offering your body to me, I pass. I don’t want what everyone has touched. I’m here because you can no longer meet the person I sent to you who would help with that issue because our previous rendezvous was compromised. I’m here because I know you can’t execute your plan without me.”“I’m happy you are here but you really don’t have to make it look like you are helping me because it’s some kind of favor you can’t avoid.”He looked away from me, walking to the giant slidi

ZEPHYR’S POV“Yes, there are two of our ghosts who are not with us now.”“Do they have names?” I asked him. “N….” He paused, rethinking his reply again. Then he said.“We go by one name, Ghost. Any other name aside this, I am unaware of it. I know it seems undutiful for me to not have this simple information but sometimes our ghosts tend to break out of character and hence get themselves into scenarios that end up leaving them with souvenirs like names, tattoos, tags.”“What kind of activities do you term as ‘breaking out of character’?”He heaved. “Activities like drinking, drinking in any locations, having emotions, expressing emotions, stopping on the way to a mission it’s doesn’t matter the reason. Having a family, getting a failing, returning to your family, burning your family, been seen anywhere near the burial of a family member.. “ he went on a d on until It was obvious and impossible to pretend that everything he said was not pretty much everything a normal wolf did.“So

ZEPHYR’S POV I lay awake, staring at the celling. Taylor snuggled in my arms and sleeping soundly. The events of these few weeks kept playing in my mind. Something about it all seemed so out of place but I couldn’t guess why. First father dies in Oscala’s hometown. A pack that had been abandoned for so long. The witch had no intention of killing him so why did she bother to bring him there where her powers were strongest? What was her real reason? Oscala said his body was filled with dark magic because he was sleeping with the witch. Hut his heart was not gripped by her magic. If he really loved her then where did he meet her? Why did she go to him to begin with? If she was really looking for SHILA’s daughter, there was so many ways she would have gone about it, father was not important.Does it mean she fell in love with father too? If so, where did they meet and who did she say she was. Father had never been the type to pick up strays, rogues or the banished. She must have posed

  • Mated to my Bully    CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY EIGHT.

ERETRIA I rode the horse far into the woods beyond that old house of the chief of wolves. I had previously agreed to rendezvous with my Trump card outside the pack but since that was not going to happen then it meant he was probably going to come looking for me at the place where I and him met last and crafted the last plan.I turned east, keeping myself hidden in the forest and vegetation but the capital city of the pack has little forests so the grass and trees kept thinning out until there we barely anything left. I ditched the horse and covered my face with a cloak, navigating through the city quietly. The essence I had stolen was weaning and I was losing my face. But they wasn’t the worst part of it. The bad thing about my magic growing unstable, was the tremors and they were coming slowly. I docked behind a big house with an alley at the back fence. I leaned against the wall, breathing fast. My gripped my arm holding it down so it could stop trembling so much. It didn’t stop
