Irreplaceable

After getting my shit together and taking a quick shower, I made my way downstairs. My mind could not stop wondering about what it was my brother wanted to show me.

After three years, he was finally back to the pack.

After Damian hit eighteen years, he mysteriously left home without giving me any explanation. I mean, I was always his favorite sister, one he said he could not live without. But that day, I arrived home from school only to have my parents inform me that he left the pack.

My attempts to contact him were futile and I later learned that he changed his number.

After pestering my mother to call him for me, he gave me the cold shoulder.

It's been three years and everytime I try getting close to him, all I get are excuses of how busy or tired he is and that breaks my heart.

Descending the stairs, I could hear soft giggles coming from the dining róom prompting me to walk even faster.

When I stepped into the dining róom however, my heart clenched painfully from the sight that greeted my eyes.

My brother was kissing a woman and my parents seemed so happy about it.

I don't Know why but seeing another woman get my brother's attention felt like a stab in the ass.

The tenderness in his eyes, the kisses, they were all mine so how could Damian give them to someone else?

Swallowing the bitter lump forming in my throat, I managed to fake a smile and walked towards the table.

“Princess, you are finally up?" My mother's sweet voice boomed in to my ears

She had a wide smile on her face as she stood up from her chair, pulling me Into a hug.

After hugging her and kissing my father's cheeks, I took a seat next to Mom and opposite to the woman my brother brought home.

“ Tonight is the day you turn eighteen so your brother came home to celebrate your birthday with you. And look who he brought home?" My mother said, her bright smile matching the happiness she felt inside.

“ Mia, this is Alicia, She is my girlfriend and future wife." My brother introduced the lady.

I felt like someone just pulled the tendons in my heart.

Alicia smiled at me but I didn't bother to return the smile, I didn't want to fake liking her.

“ Hi Mia, Damian talks too much about you. I'm excited to finally meet you." She said, extending her hand for a handshake.

Glaring at her hand, I excused myself and walked away.

Climbing the stairs two at a time, my vision blurred with tears. I could not stand seeing another woman close to my brother.

Call me a birch but I don't care. My brother is only mine. I don't know why I was feeling all too possessive with Damian. Could it be because I have this stupid secret crush on him that others don't Know? Maybe that's the source of all the pain.

Stepping inside my room, I slammed the door behind me and slumped on my bed, tears kissing my cheeks.

My mind flew back to the words my mom said earlier. Tomorrow is a special day, the day I finally get to meet my wolf but alongside that comes a big turning point for every werewolf since it's the day we get to identify our mates.

Many look forward to that day, actually, every she -wolf does but for me, I dread the day.

I don't want to wake up and realize that I have a different man for a mate and not the man I have secretly loved for years.

I would rather remain mateless than not have Damian by my side. Crazy right? But that's how I feel.

A knock on the door interrupted my train of thoughts.

Damian POV

“ What's wrong with Mia? Didn't she like the food I prepared?" My mother wondered out loud after watching my sister walk away. The Mia I know would never have done that so I could not help but wonder what happened to her.

“ Maybe she doesn't like me." Alicia chimed in, a sad look on her face.

I would be sad if someone from her family treated her the way Mia treated her. It was, to some extent, rude.

“ Don't say that, Mia isn't like that. Maybe she has personal problems. I will talk to her ." I said, excusing myself and walking upstairs.

Knocking on her door, I waited for a minute until the door was pulled open.

One look at her and I could tell that she had been crying.

I felt something sting inside me and the next thing I knew, I pulled her in my arms, hugging her tightly.

I don't know what prompted me to make that move, I just felt like she needed a shoulder to lean on.

She burst out crying. Clueless of what could be the problem, I only resigned to rubbing circles on her back soothingly.

“ Hush now Mia, why are you being such a cry baby? When will you ever mature?" I admonished her.

“ Is that what you think about me? Childish and immature?" Mia asked after pulling away, making me frown.

“ Answer me, Damian. Is that what you think about me? Is that why you brought her here? To humiliate me?" Mia asked after pulling away.

The hurt look on her face confused me even more.

What on earth was she talking about? Besides…

“ What does this have to do with Alicia?" I asked, a frown marred on my face.

" Everything!” My sister shouted, a glare fixed on me.

" Everything has something to do with her. It's because of her you left home without breathing a word about your departure to me. It's thanks to her you cut me off in your life and now, you brought her home to show me who replaced me in your life!” Mia accused, her words leaving my mouth agape.

After recovering from her shocking outburst, “ What nonsense are you talking about? You know that's not true. Nobody can replace you in my life or heart, not even Alicia." I said in all honesty, taking her hand in mine.

“ So that's how it is?" A voice sounded by the door, making me turn to look at the direction.
