The older bear shifter didn’t respond at first, but I persisted in leveling my gaze at him, reminding him with my eyes of the discussion we’d had before lunch while my other half was running late.

I’d made time to phone Theo between tasks earlier this morning in spite of my hectic schedule. I was relieved when he agreed to reach out to Logan in the near future, but I also remembered the advice he’d given me before the line went dead.

Scarlett and I had been tiptoeing around her father’s feelings, scared to send him back into a downward spiral, but my mate’s brief report through mind link after her visit with him prior had informed me her father had already descended into the pit of depression once more.  

Consequently, I knew I had little to lose when I opted to seek him out. My no bullshit approach seemed to have pulled him out of the hole, at least temporarily, but with his awareness came anger.
