Chapter 6

I woke the next morning cold. I no longer had the heat from Lyall cuddling me. I laid there thinking about last night and how wonderful it was. I was then rudely interrupted with knock at my door.

“Coming!” I yelled.

I put on my bathrobe and opened the door to find my parents on the other side.

“Good morning honey! I hope we didn’t wake you or..” my mother hesitated.

“It’s just me. He could sense I was nervous and told me he didn’t want to rush me into anything I wasn’t ready for. He did stay until I fell asleep before going to his own room.”

My father let out a breath that I’m sure he had been holding since they knocked on my door.

“Well I’m glad he was a gentleman about it and didn’t push you to do anything you didn’t want to do.” My mother smiled. “We are heading down for breakfast soon if you’d like to join us.”

“Let me get showered and ready and I will meet you downstairs.”

I quickly showered and got dressed. When I was leaving my room, Lyall was also leaving his.

“Good morning beautiful.” He smiled at me.

“Good morning. Thank you for staying with me until I fell asleep last night. I haven’t slept that well in forever.” I smiled.

“It was my pleasure and I’m glad you slept well.” He kissed my forehead.

We walked hand in hand to the ballroom where they had a breakfast buffet set up for all of us.

Everyone was already down there and either in line grabbing food or sitting and eating.

Instead of multiple tables through out the whole room they had one table big enough to fit everyone on it.

Lyall and I grabbed our food and sat between our fathers.

“Good morning you two. I hope you both slept well.” Arthur winked at us.

“Father, we slept in separate rooms last night. Please don’t be a perv.” Lyall shook his head.

“I apologize Azura I didn’t mean any harm by what I said.” Arthur frowned. “I’ve just been looking forward to the day my eldest found his mate.”

I smiled, “None taken Mr Greyback.”

Boys will be boys.

“So Lyall honey, now that you and my daughter are mates what is the plan?” My mother asked.

I looked over at Lyall, I was curious as well what the plan was.

“Well I planned on stay with your pack, if that is alright with you Reginald. I don’t want to rush Azura nor do I expect her to come live with me in my pack right away. I want to let her get to know me and I her before we leave.” Lyall smiled at me. “I want to date your daughter before we take things further.”

I was shocked by what I was hearing. He didn’t want to make me leave until I was comfortable enough being with him. He wanted to get to know me before we started living our lives as a couple.

My mother and father looked at each other in shock. As was his parents. None of us expected him to say that.

“I think that’s a lovely idea. Reggie we can put him in the guest wing of the pack house. Gives the two of them time to get to know each other.” My mother smiled.

It meant a lot to me that he wanted to date me before we completed our bond and started a life together. He really meant it when he said he wanted me comfortable before doing anything with me.

I looked over at Lyall and smiled at him. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I looked around the table watching everyone laugh and interact. I made me so happy to see both of our families get along.

I stood up with my mimosa, “I’d like to make a toast.”

Everyone stopped talking and looked my way.

“Here’s to two families coming together as one. I love and appreciate each and everyone one of you. Blood family and mated family.” I smiled at everyone. “Also here is to new beginnings and to never letting the past dictate who you are.”

I raised my glass and looked over at Lyall who just looked at me with so much love and appreciation. I smiled at him and then everyone raised their glasses and we all toasted together.

After breakfast we all started to say our goodbyes to Lyall’s family.

“You both take your time. Get to know one another. Learn each others habits. Good and bad. Strengthen your bond. There’s no rush to come home to Night Shade.” He smiled at me. “We’ll be waiting with open arms once you do come.”

I smiled and gave Arthur a big hug, “Thank you Arthur. It means a lot to me.”

Lydia, Embry, and Talia all gave us hugs and said goodbye as well. Once they were gone, we all headed to our rooms to get our things so we could head back to Moon Valley.

Lyall held my hand as we walked about to our rooms. He had already packed his things so he offered to help me. We got to my room and thankfully I didn’t have much to pack since I had already put things away this morning before going down to breakfast.

Lyall grabbed my bags and carried them out for me. I smiled at him and thanked him. We got down to the foyer and everyone was already there waiting.

“You both ready to go? The pack is waiting for us to arrive and meet you Lyall.” My father stated.

“We got everything I believe.” He looked at me, “You need anything else before we head to your pack?”

I smiled up at him and squeezed his arms, “I got everything I need now.”

He bent down and kissed my forehead. “Let’s head out then.”

Wyatt and Raven drove back in one car, my family in another, and I went with Lyall in his car. I ended up falling asleep on the way back to Moon Valley.

*dream*

I was somewhere dark. I had no clue where I was or how I even got here. I was trying to find my way out when all of a sudden a bright light lit up everything. I covered my eyes it was so bright. Once I was able to adjust to the light I was finally able to see where I was.

I was back at the ballroom. Everything was so quiet and the whole room looked like a tornado hit it. I have no clue what had happened here or even why I was back at the ballroom.

All of a sudden I heard a loud roar, I looked over and saw Lyall. But he didn’t look like himself. He was covered in blood and his clothes were ripped.

“What’s going on Lyall? Why are you covered in blood?” I asked him.

He looked at me and grinned. He didn’t even look like himself. Next thing I knew he was charging at me. The look in his eyes as he charged at me terrified me. I tried to run by I was stuck. When I looked down I saw all of the bodies of everyone I loved and cherished.

I was covered in blood, their blood. Lyall killed them all. I looked up at Lyall and knew he was going to kill me next. I managed to get unstuck from all of the dead bodies at my feet. I took off running. I ran as fast as I could to get away from him.

I knew I couldn’t outrun him but I wasn’t going out without a fight. I ran down so many hallways trying to find an exit but I couldn’t find anything. It was like I was in a Labyrinth.

I turned down a hall and ran into a dead end. “Fuck.” I yelled.

I turned around and Lyall was at the other end of the hall. He just smiled at me. He looked like he was possessed. He didn’t look like himself at all. He had become the Dark Wolf finally.

He started to charge at me again. I knew I was doomed and there was nothing I could do. So I just opened my arms and accepted my fate. The Greyback curse was real. I was going to die by the hands of Lyall Greyback and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

Lyall stood in front of me breathing heavy. I started to cry and beg him not to kill me. He just smiled at me and didn’t say anything. He wasn’t making any moves, he just stared at me. He was torturing me before he killed me.

He grabbed me by the throat and lifted me off the ground. I kicked and clawed at him but he didn’t let me go. He started to bring me closer to him so he could tip my throat out.

He was inches from my throat and just before he tore me apart I heard him whisper, “Save me my love”. Then everything went black.
