Chapter 13

“Stay strong my daughter.” The Moon Goddess whispered to me.

The bright light disappeared just as fast as it came. I sat there blinking trying to make sure I wasn’t still sleeping. I shook my head and got off my bed to get ready for dinner.

When I finally came down to dinner everyone was already eating at the table. Lyall stood up once he saw me enter the kitchen. He helped me into my chair and pushed it for me.

“Thank you.” I smiled up at him.

*Is everything alright? I was trying to link you but you had it turned off.*

*I took a nap and was out cold. Sorry about that.*

Lyall looked at me curiously but still smiled and kissed my forehead.

A few bites in I look at my father and asked, “How come you didn’t join us for lunch? I went to your office after to bring you some but you weren’t there either.”

He looked at me and hesitated for a second but then answered, “Jeremiah linked me that someone reported rogue’s near by so I went with him to investigate.”

-good excuse- I thought to myself.

“Hopefully it was just a false alarm and we don’t have any rogues messing around our lands.” I said.

I had to do my best not to let my father or anyone in that secret society group know I know what happened today. The Moon Goddess only showed me so I can prepare myself for the battle I will be facing with Lyall. I couldn’t give up no matter what. I had to break this curse!

We all finished up dinner, Lyall and I helped clean the table once again. After Lyall and I went back to his room. We sat down on the couch to watch some TV.

“If everything okay? You seem distant. Like something is on your mind.” Lyall asked me.

“Yeah I just had a really weird dream when I took my nap. I’m fine.”

“You know you can talk to me about anything. If you want to ask me anything you can. We should get to know each other more.”

I turned toward him. “You’re right. Let’s ask each other some questions then!”

He smiled at me and kissed my forehead. “You go first since you’re the one who has things on your mind.”

“Okay….Why did you leave for so many years?”

“I needed to get away. My anger was getting so bad I just needed time to think and be away from the pack and all the bull crap I was dealing with. Not having you all these years had broke me.”

“I’m sorry. I wish there was something I could have done for you. You didn’t deserve to suffer so long.” I frowned.

“It’s not your fault it’s my families curse…..When you’re not with your friends or family, what do you like to do for fun?”

“I enjoy reading and running. Feeling the cool breeze on my skin and also on my fur when I’m shifted is soothing and healing for me.”

“Maybe we can go for a run together?” Lyall asked.

“I’d love that.” I smiled up at him. “What do you know about the curse?”

Lyall laughed, “I get all the hard questions….From what I have been told by family members long ago one of my ancestors made a deal with a witch to help them get pregnant. In doing this the whole family line was cursed that they wouldn’t be able to find their mates when they turned of age. A lot of us have gone mad but others just get sad and keep to themselves. I’m unfortunately one of those who have gone mad. I’m not proud of it. I don’t like being this way. I used to be loving and caring to everyone.”

He looked so hurt and broken as he spoke. I could tell he wanted to change. That made me want to help him even more.

I put my hand on his cheek and rubbed my thumb against him, “You have me now. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll help you change and be that loving and caring person you once were.”

He smiled at me, “Thank you. I want to be a better man and mate for you.”

“We’ll fight this curse together my love. You never have to worry about fighting anything alone ever again. I’ll be your rock and your savior. Just give it time and we’ll defeat this curse.” I smiled at him.

He pulled me onto my lap and held me tight. “I love you. I’m so glad I’ve finally found you. I’ve been so lost without you Azura.”

I hugged him back. We stayed like that for a few minutes. The love I felt from him was amazing. I never wanted it end. I NEEDED to help fix him. I knew form that moment on, I would go to the end of the world and back just to figure out how I was going to fix him and break this curse. He and his family deserved it.

That night we laid in bed cuddling each other. I didn’t dream of the Moon Goddess this time. My dream was all about Lyall’s and my future. Us happy as can be with our own little family. I wanted that to happen so bad.

When we woke in the morning neither of us wanted to move. We wanted to stay laying in bed, holding each other. We were soon interrupted sadly to a knock at his door.

Lyall got up to answer it. My father was on the other side.

“Have you seen Azura? She’s not in her room.” My father asked.

I got off the bed and made my way to the door.

“Good morning pops! What do you need?”

My father stood there shocked. He wasn’t expecting to find me in Lyall’s room.

“I’m sorry I didn’t know you were here. I got worried when I didn’t find you in your room.”

“Daddy, Lyall and I are mated. Why wouldn’t I want to be with him?”

“You’re right I’m sorry. It’s just to me you’re still my little girl.”

“I’ll always be your little girl. I just now have another man in my life too.” I smiled up at Lyall.

“Well when you get a chance could we have some father daughter time please?”

“Of course! How about after breakfast?”

My father smiled at me, “Sounds good. See you both soon.”

Lyall shut the door to his room.

“Shower with me?” He asked.

“You read my mind.”

After we got down showering together we got dressed we left his room to head to breakfast. Ayala was leaving her room as well when we exited Lyall’s room. She gave me a nasty look but didn’t say anything. All I did was roll my eyes and continued holding hands with Lyall towards the kitchen.

My mother was still cooking breakfast when we arrived.

“Good morning mom!”

“Azura honey! Good morning sweetie. And good morning to you as well Lyall. I hope you like biscuits and gravy!” My mother smiled at the both of us.

“I love them. Need any help?” Lyall offered.

My mother smiled, “If you wouldn’t mind helping me get the biscuits ready to go into the oven that would be lovely.”

While Lyall and my mother cooked I got the table set for everyone. I put extras table sets out just in case Ayala and Susan decided to come down for breakfast too. Tonight was the big decision so I’m sure they would be extra kind to us all today.

Once everything was done my mother linked the rest of the family letting them know breakfast was ready. Few minutes later my brothers came storming into the kitchen and my father followed shortly after. We all sat and ate chatting together like one big happy family. It warmed my heart at how much everyone got along and welcomed Lyall into the family. It definitely made things easier for me knowing they enjoyed him around.

After breakfast was done Lyall went back to his room to do some business calls that he had to get done today. I stayed and helped clean up with my parents. Once we were done my father turned to me.

“Care to go for a run with your pops for our father daughter time?”

I smiled up at him, “I’d love to go for a run! It’s been a few days since I’ve gone out running. Let me go get some better clothes on and then we can go.”

Once I changed into my running outfit I headed downstairs. He was waiting for me by the front door already and smiled when I was coming down the stairs.

“Ready?”

“Let’s do this!” I cheered.
