Chapter 12

I cried so hard until I cried myself to sleep.

*dream*

When I opened my eyes I wasn’t in my room anymore. I was floating above my pack land. Next thing I knew, I saw my father leaving the pack house. I yelled for him but he couldn’t hear or see me. So I just watched and observed. He was heading towards the library. This must have been what was going on while we were eating lunch.

Wyatt and Raven were waiting outside the library. The three of them looked around before entering the building. I followed them to see what was going on.

They walked to the back of the library and once again looked around to make sure no one had followed them or was watching. My father then moved a book and a secret door opened up. I was in complete shock that the library had its very own secret room! I followed them down the stairs. Once they got to the bottom they walked down a dark creepy hall. They came to a door at the end of the hall and walked in.

Inside the room were a few others including Jeremiah.

“What the hell is going on here? Is this like a secret society within our pack?” I said to myself.

“Thank you all for coming. We need to to figure this out before my daughter leaves with Lyall. This Greyback curse needs to be broken before I lose my daughter.” My father announced.

Everyone knew of the Greyback curse. Every Greyback wife has lost their life giving birth to their first born son. No one knew why.

“Has anyone been able to decipher anymore of the scroll?” My father questioned.

“The words are so faded we’re doing our best but it’s not easy.” Jeremiah said.

“So…so far we have been able to translate that an ancestor of the Greybacks made a deal with a witch long ago. One of the wives wasn’t able to get pregnant. She kept having miscarriages. So they sought out a witch to help them. In doing so she cursed every Greyback Luna would lose their life when they birthed their first born son.” Jeremiah continued.

“Hundreds of years this has been going on. Not a single Greyback Luna has been able to survivor the birthing of her first born son. On top of that all Greyback wolves wouldn’t find their mate when they turned 18, male and female. Only the first born child though would endure the Dark Wolf curse.” He finally finished.

I looked at them in shock. They were worried for my life. Once I fall pregnant with Lyall’s child, my days are numbered.

“There HAS to be a way to break this curse! Every spell has a loop hole or a until this happens!” My father was getting angry.

“I’m not sure we should be looking for a way to break the curse per say…” Raven stated

Everyone looked at her like she grew a second head.

“Don’t you all remember the story your parents and grandparents used to tell you when you were pups? I remember it because my grandmother told me it until the day she passed.” She looked around. “What if this story everyone has all talked about isn’t a story after all. What if it’s a prophecy?

-story-

Once upon a time, there once was a dark hearted wolf. He was as mean as can be. No one ever wanted to be around him. He learned to keep to himself until one day he met a pure hearted wolf. He was mesmerized by her. Everyone warned her not to fall for him, he would only hurt her. She did not listen to them. Slowly day by day the dark hearted wolf calmed until he there was no longer any darkness left. Her pure heart was so strong it was able to defeat the darkness in his heart. These two came to rule together as one and became the strongest mates ever to be known.

*dream*

“It’s been so long since I’ve heard this story, but maybe Raven is right.” My father said. “Let’s see if any of these scrolls say anything about the story or mention the pure hearted wolf and dark hearted wolf.”

The whole group started looking through scrolls. Just as they were about to give up on the prophecy idea, Jeremiah found something.

“I think I found something. It mentions something about a curse and also a light and dark wolf! I can’t really tell what else is said though. Anyone else want to give it a try?” Jeremiah said.

“Cursed be this family. Dark wolves be thy name. Until a light wolf comes to save the day. A battle it will be, who shall succeed? If darkness falls upon the light, death will fall upon thee. If light shines over the dark, great power will come to thee. Once every Blue Blood Moon year the two will meet. Only when light takes over the dark will this curse be broken.” Raven read aloud.

“Does anyone know when the next blue blood moon will happen?” My father asked.

Wyatt pulled out his phone to search it. Everyone watched and waited to see what he would find. Wyatt scrolled and read and once he found the answer he looked up at everyone, eyes almost bulging out of his head.

“This year.” He said.

Everyone gasped and started talking all at once.

“SILENCE!” My father yelled.

Once everyone stopped talking to listen did my father continue.

“Okay so now we know that what Raven said is now true. We have to find a way to get my daughter to help destroy the darkness in Lyall. If she doesn’t succeed she will die giving birth to her first born son.”

“Honestly, I don’t know if there’s anything we can actually do.” Raven nervously said. “She is the light and only she can shine over the dark. I think the only thing we can do for her is help her stay strong and to never give up on her mate.”

Everyone else nodded their head in agreement.

“I hate to say this but I think you’re right again Raven. As much as I want her to not die we can’t stop this curse. Only she can.” My father paused for a second. “So everyone, we need to be Azura’s rock. Let her know we will always be there for her no matter what. We have to be strong for her and hope she can succeed and bring Lyall back into the light.”

“Okay everyone now that we need to reassure Azura we’re here for her. You’re all dismissed.”

Raven, Wyatt and my father all waited for everyone else to leave before heading out.

Once they got out side my father turned to the both of them and said, “Raven and Wyatt, you’re her best friends. You two have the best shot other than me and her mother to keep her strong and moving forward to fight for their relationship to work. I’m counting on you both to keep in touch and be there for her.”

“Well now I know what they were talking about when I saw them outside the library.” I said to myself.

As the three of them went their ways a bright light appeared. I had to cover my eyes it was so bright. Once the light was as bright I was able to look again. I saw someone floating not far from me. I blinked a few times to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. Just as I was about to ask who it was the person spoke.

“Azura my daughter. My gorgeous light wolf. I have blessed you with this information to help you prepare for the battle you will face. I have chosen you to be the light wolf because you have proven yourself to be so pure that you yourself shine everywhere you go.”

This persons voice was the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. It enchanted you as she spoke.

“You may not see or believe me but have you ever wondered why you have been able to see much better in the dark than anyone else? That is how pure you are, even darkness cannot stand in your way. Over the centuries this curse has been around not a single light wolf has been as bright as you are. I have faith in your my daughter that you will defeat the darkness in him and bring him back to me. Don’t ever give up Azura. I will always be with you, even when you can’t see me”

Before I could say anything in return she disappeared.

I floated there in shock.

“Did I just see the Mood Goddess?!”

Before anything else could happen I was woken up.

*reality*

“Azura! What are you doing in there?! I’ve been knocking for 20 minutes! Dinner is ready!” I heard my father yelling on the other side of the door.

I sat up in bed and a bright light shined down on me again.

“I am always with you Azura. Never lose faith and you will succeed. Everything I just showed you may have been a dream to you but it’s what really happened. Stay strong my daughter.” The Moon Goddess whispered to me.
