Two women stand in front of me. At least I think they’re women. They both have long dresses flowing past their feet… Maybe they’re in robes… I can’t tell, their faces are covered. Only a fire sits between us.

I look between them, but neither of them speak. “What do you want?” I ask, trying to push off the ground to stand, but I can’t. I turn to look, seeing shadows holding me captive.

The one on the right raises her hand and the shadows tighten, burning my skin… No, freezing?

I land back on the roof, my knees digging into the clay tiles. I grab my head, but I’m only on solid ground for a moment before I’m in someone’s arms.I turn to look who’s holding me, I jump back. “Who are you?” I rasp, and he grunts as I kick his stomach. “Calm down. We’ve met before. I’m Malek.”My head shakes, “Oh right, you lost that memory.” I take a deep breath as the name finally clicks, “The twins Beta.” I whisper and he nods.“They’ll be here in…” He’s cut off as arms pull me into the bathroom. “Just a second.” He finishes, climbing in after I’m through.Orion looks over my face. “We’re going to the healers.” He tells me. Shadows start snaking up. My head shakes as I try to push myself from Orion’s arms. “No! No! No, shadows.” He holds me tighter, not letting me fall from his grasp.“Okay, okay, I’ll run.” He whispers, a soothing voice taking over his tone.We make it to the healers quickly; he stands at the door already waiting for us. As soon as Orion places me on the bed,

A pain takes over my skull, my head feeling like it’s going to explode. The world spins, but just as suddenly she gasps taking a step back and turning towards the other woman. “She’s been there. She’s seen it.” She rasps; the other woman takes a step closer, her chest rising and falling rapidly.“Where is it?” She shouts. I close my eyes, the pain still slightly moving through my mind. When I open them again, they’re both even closer. “Wh

“What the hell?” Orion snaps as we shadow travel back to the room. Colt has me in his arms. My blurry vision starting to come back to me.Orion grabs me from Colt. “Do we need the healer? What’s going on, Colt?” Orion snaps.Colt suddenly snaps out of his shock, “I… I don’t know. She was fine, then she just started freaking out.” He tells him.I take a deep breath, sitting up as Orion sets me down on the couch. Cyrus is on my other side in the next second, Colt kneeling in front of me. “I don’t need the healer. I’m fine.” I rasp. Cyrus scoffs, I roll my eyes, “Really. I’m starting to feel better now.” I whisper.“What happened?” Orion asks again, my head shakes, “I don’t know. It’s like Colt said. I was fine, then things started getting blurry, and it was hard to breathe.” I tell them.Colt’s eyes scrunch, “The fountain. It affected her. She kept turning towards it. I didn’t realize.” He tells them. “What?” I ask, but I’m promptly ignored. “That’s not possible.” Cyrus snaps. “How the

All I see is hills and hills of green grass, willow trees and wildlife. Colt places two fingers on my forehead and suddenly I see stone houses torn in half, newer builds completely burnt to the ground, greenery, weeds and wildflowers covering over them, trying to erase the evidence. I turn seeing what had to be a beautiful fountain, the craftsmanship alone… Wow. I take a step towards the fountain, feeling drawn to it for some reason.Colt grabs my arm, “Stay away from that.” He whispers, my eyebrows knit, “Why?” I ask, trying to move towards it again.“It could be dangerous. I don’t want you to hurt yourself.” He tells me, and I turn to look at him. “This is your old pack?” I ask, and he nods, looking up at the shambles it’s become.A building following a broken path comes into view. It’s giant, stone pillars trying to hold up the remnants of whatever’s left.I reach for my heart as I suddenly feel like I’ve lost something.“How long ago did this happen?” I ask him, turning to look ba

We come back to the room completely soaked, after I decided it would be fun to try and push him in the pond after he got dressed, but he caught me right before he went in, taking me with him.Our smiles are still wide as the shadows disperse. Cyrus glances up from his computer, a smirk on his face, “Looks like you guys had fun.”I nod, walking over to him, sitting on his lap and pressing my wet body across his. He laughs, grabbing my hair and pulling me off of his chest. “Do you honestly think you looking completely sexy soaking wet is going to bother me?” He jokes, and I chuckle shrugging, “A girl can dream.” I tease, whipping my hair around to smack him in the face.He chuckles and pulls at my wet shirt, “I’d say I’d help you to the shower, but your other mate is currently occupying it.” He tells me, and I smile pulling off him, winking and walking towards the bathroom. He shakes his head, a smile still covering his face. He sucks in a sharp breath. “I’ll deal with the dry you once

Wildflowers coat the ground in all directions, willow trees seemingly falling from the sky, a small pond sparkling in the sunlight. Beautiful. It looks like a picture… A dream.“Wow.” I whisper, looking around the field. A wild horse takes off, white and… “It’s almost magical.” I whisper, like the sound of my voice might disrupt the delicate balance that natures created here.Orion comes up behind me, his arms around my waist and I rest my hands on his. “Who says it’s not?” He asks, and I tilt my head up to look at him. “Is it?”He smiles, “I don’t know, but our home can’t be the only one filled with magic. Some places may just be luckier.” He tells me.“I thought you liked the dark.”He shrugs, laying his chin on the top of my head, “I don’t hate it, I barely notice it anymore until I leave. My eyes allow the dark to come rather easily.”“Then what is it?” His arms hold me a little tighter. “I know you’ve accepted it as reality now, but I see the way you yearn for the light. How you
