It started out how it usually did, with hesitation and silence. I moved forward towards the living room, plonking down onto the couch in a half seated, half lying down manner.

"Hi." I said, sitting down on one of the seats.

He replied with a nod.

"Sierra's not back yet, if that's who you were waiting for." He said, flipping another page.

I nodded, and sat upright.

We were more of far apart acquaintances. His words back then seemed to have broken the ice, but that didn't mean that we were friends. It was a progress compared to before where most of our interactions were tense. After a bout of hesitation I took out my phone. Opening the sudoku game. It was the same one Sierra played and had given to me.

"I know this isn't any of my business but..." His dark voice courted hesitation. "...what were you going to ask her?'

There was no harm in telling him a thing.

"I was going to ask Sierra about opening a bank account," I said.
