A…Werewolf?

Zhane didn’t know how to convince Mark that he was dangerous, without alarming the kid to an extent where he goes around telling his parents. In that case, Zhane would have to leave this place as soon as possible.  But perhaps telling the kid’s family would be good? Maybe they will stop Mark from hanging out with Zhane?

Oh who was he kidding, the mate bond, that too the fated mate bond was one of the purest forms of bond regarded as the werewolves. No wolf would ever believe that as Mark’s mate, Zhane was capable of hurting Mark at all. In fact, they might even push them together, something he would absolutely hate. As the older one, Mark could become his responsibility, and no matter what he didn’t want to get dragged in.

Amidst the silence a noise of crackling hit Zhane’s ears. Upon focussing he heard the sound of footsteps increasing in pace. “Your parents are here. I am leaving.” Zhane declared.

“How do you know that?” Mark asked, but he didn’t get a reply. Instead, Zhane stormed off the room. “Old Man?!” Mark shouted and tried to run after him but as soon as Mark stepped out of the room, all he saw was an empty dark hallway. Worried, Mark stuck to the door and eventually slipped back into the principal’s office.

Mark stayed in the principal's office waiting for any sort of noise that could confirm that his parents were here, at the same time being terrified that the noise that could come any minute won’t be by his parents. Mark heard familiar footsteps approaching the room, and as soon as the door burst open he found a woman hugging him tightly. That woman was his mom.

“M..Mom?” Mark struggled to breathe.

“Next time you go missing, I will come to the school terrace first thing.” Huffed Mrs McCain.

“Mark, why do you keep going to the terrace? Of all place?” Mr McCain asked.

“I dunno.” Mark shrugged. “I am really sorry. I didn’t want to worry you. I have no idea what is going on with me…. Am I sick”? Mark wondered out loud.

Don and Megan exchanged a knowing look. Mark missed the look and continued to stare at the floor.

“Let’s get you back to our house.” Mrs McCain mumbled tearfully.

After they reached home, Mrs McCain ensured she fed Mark properly. What caught her attention was how hungry Mark was. Sure, Mark had probably not eaten anything for a long time, but to see him devour plates after plates was a bit terrifying. Mark himself failed to realize how much extra he was eating, but his parents didn’t.

Once Mark was put to bed, Don and Megan sat down on the couch in the living room to discuss important matters, “We really need to tell this kid.” Don began.

“He is not ready.” Megan breathed.

“His body is.” Don argued. “You saw how he was eating, how exhausted he is these days…” Don pursed his lips. “If I am right about this…. We have only a few weeks before he goes into transition.”

“Full moon.” In a dreaded manner, Megan replied. Don tilted his head lightly that indicated that Megan caught what he was trying to say.

“Why is this happening to us? To him?” Megan groaned. “He is the most innocent kid I have ever seen. He is the perfect kid any parent would ever want. He gets good grades, he is polite… he is just a kid.” Megan’s voice quivered.

“And he is also a werewolf.” Don declared. “Being all those things does not take away his genes of being a werewolf.”

“He shouldn't have gone into transition if he didn’t run into his stupid mate!” huffed Megan.

“What about his mate? What do you think his mate feels. I mean, it’s very likely that his fated Mate is an omega right?” Don mumbled. “Even without his transition, I can tell Mark will be Alpha, cause we are both Alphas.”

“So?” Megan asked.

“So… what if his mate’s parents are also freaked out?” Don suggested. “He couldn’t find who this cinnamon smelling person was. Or else we could have had a chat with her or her parents.”

“Her?” Megan asked.

“Or him. I am not guessing genders here.” Don shrugged it off. “Nevertheless, we need to tell Mark before he begins to shift. I don’t want him to be terrified more than he has to be when he shifts.”

Megan was quiet for a moment, and took a moment to consider before he nodded. “Okay… We will tell him soon.”

“When?” Don pressed.

“This sunday”? Megan suggested. Don pursed his lips and nodded. They decided to head for their beds and thus switched off the lights of the living room. What neither of them didn’t know was that their son, Mark, was standing on the other side of the door of his room, with ears pressed to the door itself.

Yes, he had heard the entire conversation and right now he was too shocked to move. A….werewolf? Was he seriously a werewolf? He felt human… then how could he be a werewolf? ‘You think you are a regular human being?’ that old Man from earlier had asked him that. Could it be that the old man had deciphered what he was.

But how? Mark wondered. His father also mumbled something about a mate. Cinnamon person…. That was the old man right? So could it be that the old man was his mate? Whatever that is. Mark pressed his head as a sharp headache hit him. All this revelation was clearly too much for him.

Sure, he wanted to ask his parents, but given how they have hidden such a huge amount of information from him, it was hard not to feel betrayed by his parents right now.

He couldn’t just leave things at that. Mark needed to know more about werewolves, this Alpha omega or whatever his Dad was talking about. Apart from his parents, the only one who could possibly know was the old man he met earlier. If Mark finds him… perhaps he should ask?
