With a silent satisfaction, I watched Thorne address the crowd. He was going to point out Nanisca as his killer, and have her banished or stoned to death, as the laws of TwinMoon pack demanded."I was attacked," Thorne started, and I frowned slightly. We all knew that already. What we itched to hear was by who. Nanisca was horrified now, she looked like she would run out of the room any moment, or better still, disappear. But none of that was going to happe[Dylan]The tripartite ceremony was a huge success even though our father had failed to show up like I half expected. What made the event more colourful was the Lunar goddess' approval which usually comes in the form of a thunderbolt. The sound had delayed in coming, that for a slight second, I thought it wouldn't sound, or that the Lunar goddess had changed her mind about Avira being our mate. But it sounded after a few seconds, and it was louder than it was supposed to, which at the moment, could only mean that Avira is the one true Luna of TwinMoon pack.I made a mental note to confront my father about his absence, but I wasn't sure when would be convenient for both of us. After the wedding ceremony which was right now would be time to consummate our marriage. I had no idea how much time that would take.My eyes darted around the room which in a few hours would cease to be mine until they settled for the full-length mirror in the room
[Avira]I waited with my breath hitched, and with clenched teeth while Alpha Magnus was wheeled into the room by his personal servants. His eyes were blazing in anger, and his anger was directed at me. My whole world was in turmoil, and my whole body wouldn't stop trembling at the thought of facing him alone."How dare you?" He roared, wheeling his chair towards me with so much speed. I gave a selfish prayer of Thanksgiving at that moment, thanking the Lunar goddess that he was handicapped. Who knows what would have happened if he wasn't sure handicapped?"How dare you reduce the sacredness of this room, and invite commoners to take refuge in it? He asked again, his voice was louder this time, and reverberated in the corners of the room. He was in front of the throne room now, and in front of me, but he was below the podium which made me look down to address him."I have an obligation to protect them from harm as their Luna." I replied in a levele
[Avira]"Alpha Dylan and Alpha Declan asked that we keep you safe." Mira said in that fearful voice of hers. I narrowed my eyes in confusion."We?" I asked."There are warriors outside your door," Mira explained while I nodded, and at the same time I wondered why Dylan and Declan would send in warriors for my protection."Is everything alright?" I tried to sound unbothered but my voice had come out low and shaky. Mira hesitated for a while before she spoke up."The pack is believed to be under an attack ." Mira paused, and I swallowed hard.Attack? "Alphas Dylan and Declan have gone to drive the attackers back, and they asked that you be kept safe while they are at it." Mira explained. I bit hard hard at my lips to stop them from quivering but it was useless. This also meant our marriage cannot be consummated tonight, and that should make me feel relieved but I didn't. In fact, I didn't realize how
[Avira]The loud clapping and shouting went on for a long time, forcing me to pay attention to the crowd. When the shouting eventually died down, Shammar motioned for me to resume kneeling down, and I did. I didn't realize until now that I had leapt up from the knee stand at the sound of the thunder minutes ago."Avira Holbrook Thiago,Do you promise to uphold the laws of TwinMoon Pack to the best of your ability?" Shammar asked, reading from the same scroll he read from earlier."I do," I said even though I have no intention of upholding laws that are barbaric, but I didn't have to say that here, or now."Do you promise to lead TwinMoon Pack with justice and fairness in your capacity as Luna?" He asked again, still reading from the scroll."I do," I replied. Justice and fairness will not prevent me from taking my revenge on anyone who has ever hurt me. And of course, the entire pack didn't have to know about it either.
[Avira]I walked down the aisle of the throne room, completely blown away by the decorations and lights in the hall. Light coloured balloons and ribbons hanging loosely at almost every surface gave the room an entirely different look. I felt like I would easily touch the lights which hung low from the ceiling if I reached out for them, or stretched a little even though that was not possible.I was wearing the pink wedding dress Dylan bought me, and clutching at the bouquet of flowers. Both Dylan and Declan had handpicked the flowers from the royal garden, and arranged them into the pattern they wanted. The tulle fabric which served as a veil was pulled down but I could easily see through it. The sapphire necklace, and the shoes I had on were from Declan. Dylan and Declan, dressed identically, were standing in front of the crowd who had stood up to welcome me while I walked majestically like the Lunar bride I was. From behind the ve
[Avira]I contemplated between going with Dylan to the front of the room where his father was and to remain where I was currently seated for a while after Dylan left.Opting for none of the options, I left for my bedroom, allowing the wave of relief to wash over me. The whole turn of events, although not planned, had worked in my favour. All thanks to Declan who, as it seemed, was on our side the whole time.I stepped into the room after pushing the door open, and quickly bit down the scream that threatened to go out from my mouth."You gave me a fright, Mira." I said, pressing a hand to my chest."I'm sorry," Mira replied. She was beaming, but I was cautious not to get my hopes up."You got it?" I asked, my breath hitched."Yes!" Mira exclaimed, and brought out the red sash with a lot of inscriptions and symbols, all of which were strange.Mira stretched the sash to me, and I took it after hesitating
[Avira]The stories I have heard about bandits, the horrible, terrible things they did to their preys, all of the stories I have been told about them directly or through eavesdropping came back to me in a rush. Including the stories I had considered too brutal, and cast off as lies. They all seemed
[Avira]"Actually, I didn't think you were innocent, I believed it." Dylan added after a few minutes, and honestly, I wasn't sure what to say to him. I should say thank you to him again, not just for saving my life but also for making me sit here, away from the scorching sun.The damn necklace woul
[Dylan]"No you don't." Avira said in a low voice, but I said nothing. "For all you know, this thing around my neck is the only thing protecting you from me right now," she added. There was a shift in her voice. She sounded angry now, but I could easily tell that the anger was not directed at me.
[Avira]The journey to the border was long and quiet. Too long and too quiet, but thankfully my legs weren't hurting so much anymore. It turned out that the foul smelling healing remedy was effective.I was moving farther away from the place I believed to be home for two years, and heading for a ne
