The sun was beginning to set over the jagged cliffs of the Citadel, painting the sky in bruises of purple and gold. Elara stood on the balcony of her new suite, watching the waves crash below. She felt a strange, rhythmic thrumming in her blood, a restless energy she had never felt before.

A heavy knock sounded at the door, and Ryker entered, followed by his three brothers. They weren't wearing their usual business suits; they were dressed in traditional leather tunics embossed with the silver wolf head of the Thorne line.

"Is it time to go to Ashwood?" Elara asked, her voice tinged with a mix of fear and anticipation.

Ryker shook his head, his silver eyes catching the rising light of the moon. "Not yet. Before we go to Ashwood, we need to do something. Something that has been waiting fifteen years."

"What is it?" Elara asked, her brow furrowed.

"Today is the Full Moon, Elara," Finn said, his usual playful grin replaced by a look of deep intensity.

"I know," Elara whispered, looking down at her hands. "In Ashwood, the Full Moon was when I was forced to stay in the cellars. They said my 'silence' would offend the Moon Goddess."

Silas growled, a low, vibrating sound of pure fury. "In the Obsidian Pack, the Full Moon is not a time for hiding. It is the time for the Crown."

"What’s that?" Elara asked, her heart beginning to race.

"You'll see," Ryker replied, reaching out his hand. "Trust us, little sister."

They led her deep into the bowels of the Citadel, through hidden passages where the air grew cool and smelled of ancient earth. Finally, they reached the Chamber of Ancestors.

The roof of the chamber was not stone, but a massive, enchanted crystal dome. Directly above them, the Full Moon hung like a giant, glowing pearl. As the moon reached its zenith, a single, concentrated beam of moonlight shot down, hitting a stone dais in the center of the room.

"The Ashwood Pack thinks a wolf’s power comes from their shift," Orion explained gently as they circled the dais. "But the Thorne bloodline is older than the shift itself. We are children of the Moon's shadow."

He stepped forward, holding a ceremonial dagger made of bone. "In the light of the Full Moon, your blood will recognize its own."

One by one, the brothers performed the ritual.

First was Finn. He sliced his palm, letting his warrior-alpha blood fall into the silver chalice on the dais. "I give my strength to the sister who was lost. May my speed be her shield under this moon."

Next was Silas. "I give my vision to the sister who was hidden. May my shadows guard her path."

Then Orion. "I give my life-force to the sister who was broken. May my breath be her healing."

Finally, Ryker stepped into the beam of moonlight. He cut his hand deeply, his blood glowing with a faint, iridescent light as it hit the chalice. "I give my command to the sister who is Queen. My throne is her footstool, and my life is her sword."

The mixture in the chalice didn't look like blood anymore. Under the direct light of the Full Moon, it began to boil and swirl, turning into a liquid silver that mimicked the glow of the moon above.

"Drink, Elara," Ryker commanded, his voice echoing through the chamber like thunder. "The Moon Goddess has been waiting to reclaim her daughter."

Elara took the chalice. As her fingers touched the cold silver, the restlessness in her blood turned into a roar. She drank the liquid in one draught.

The effect was instantaneous

The beam of moonlight hitting the dais suddenly expanded, engulfing Elara in a pillar of pure, white radiance. She didn't scream; instead, she let out a long, melodic breath as the "silence" in her soul was shattered.

Inside her mind, a massive, snow-white wolf with eyes like stars finally opened its eyes.

I am here, the wolf whispered.

A wave of silver energy exploded from Elara, knocking the heavy stone benches back and making the obsidian walls crack. Her hair began to glow, and a silver crescent moon appeared on her forehead before fading into her skin.

Ryker, Orion, Silas, and Finn didn't move. They stood their ground, their eyes wide with awe. As the light faded, they saw her.

Elara stood taller, her shoulders back, her eyes no longer blue, but a swirling, ethereal silver that matched Ryker’s. The aura she projected was so heavy, so royal, that it made the very air in the room bow.

"The Coronation is complete," Ryker whispered.

He dropped to one knee, bowing his head. One by one, the other three brothers, the most feared Alphas in the world knelt before their sister in the silence of the moonlit chamber.

"All hail the Luna of Obsidian," they spoke in a unified rumble.

Elara looked at her hands, which were now glowing faintly. The fear of Valerius, the memory of the servants' quarters, and the pain of the rejection were gone. In their place was a cold, calm certainty.

"Rise, my brothers," Elara said. Her voice carried the weight of a thousand years of royalty. "The moon is high, and we have a debt to collect in Ashwood."

The explosion of Julian’s obsidian orb didn't just release shadows; it released a vacuum of cold that seemed to suck the very oxygen from the hallway. Elara stood frozen for a heartbeat, her mind reeling as she stared at the man standing in the center of the darkness.Julian. He was the man her brothers had hand-picked to be her chief advisor and scribe the moment she stepped back into the Citadel. "He’s the most loyal man we know," Ryker had told her. "He’ll teach you our laws; he’ll keep your secrets." For weeks, Julian had sat across from her in the library, his voice calm and helpful as he explained the complicated politics of the North. She had shared her frustrations with him. She had trusted his "kind" smile.Seeing him now, with eyes like pits of oily tar and a smirk that held nothing but malice, felt like a physical punch to the stomach. She felt a sickening wave of foolishness. She had prided herself on being a survivor of the Ashwood Pack, yet sh

The air in the library was still vibrating from the force of Elara’s vision. She stood anchored to Caleb’s side, her breath coming in shallow, jagged hitches as the images of the bone throne and the veiled queen burned behind her eyelids. The silence was broken only by the frantic thrumming of her own heart and the distant, rhythmic ticking of a grandfather clock in the corner."The training... it triggered something," Elara choked out, her fingers digging into the fabric of Caleb’s sleeve. "It wasn't just a dream, Caleb. It was happening in real-time. Someone has opened the Shadow Gate. The back entrance beneath the West Watchtower, the one we never use. They’re already inside."The reaction from her brothers was instantaneous and terrifying. The four Thorne Alphas froze, their bodies tensing into lethal postures. The air in the room suddenly felt thick, charged with the scent of pine and raw, predatory aggression."That's impossible," Orion grow

The morning sun bled through the high, arched windows of the breakfast nook, casting long, golden bars across the table. For the first time since Elara had returned to the Citadel, the air didn't feel like a coiled spring ready to snap. It felt... different. Elara sat at the table, her fingers tracing the rim of her coffee cup. She felt an unusual hum beneath her skin, a pleasant, grounded warmth that hadn't faded after last night’s session with Caleb. Across from her, Silas was reading a stack of intelligence reports, but every few seconds, his eyes flickered toward her, then toward the empty chair where Caleb usually sat. "You're glowing," Silas remarked, his voice neutral but observant. Elara blinked, her cheeks warming. "It’s just the training, Silas. My power isn't fighting me this morning. I actually slept without the nightmares." Silas hummed, setting a paper down. "I noticed. Usually, the stone floors of the East Wing vibrate when you're dreaming. Last night, the Cit

The air in the lower levels of the Obsidian Citadel was always cold, but as Elara followed her brothers down the spiral stone staircase, the temperature seemed to drop into a realm of unnatural frost. Her breath hitched in her chest, coming out in small, ghostly puffs of white. Beside her, Caleb walked in silence, his expression grim. His presence was the only thing keeping the oppressive weight of the dark from crushing her spirit. Behind them, the four Thorne brothers were a wall of vibrating tension. Ryker’s hand was permanently glued to the hilt of his tactical blade, his knuckles white. He had personally locked Valerius in the deepest, most secure cell in the North. To hear the man had vanished wasn't just a security breach, it was an impossibility. "The guards didn't hear a thing," Silas whispered, his voice echoing off the damp stone walls. "No struggle. No keys turning. Just... silence." They reached the final iron gate. Usually, the scent here was a foul mixture of

The dining hall of the Citadel was usually a place of lively chatter, but this morning, the only sound was the aggressive clinking of silverware against porcelain. Ryker sat at the head of the table, a large bruise already forming on his jaw where Caleb’s shoulder had "met" his fist. Silas was nursing a wrapped wrist, and Finn was eating his bacon with a scowl that could sour milk. In the middle of it all sat Caleb. He had changed back into his simple, slightly worn shirt, looking entirely too relaxed for a man who had just survived a four-on-one Alpha beat down. Elara sat across from him, her heart still doing that annoying little skip every time he reached for the orange juice. "Are you... are you sure you’re not hurt?" she asked, her voice soft. "I'm fine, Elara," Caleb said, his honey eyes warming as they landed on her. "I've had rougher encounters with mountain goats back home." "A mountain goat?" Finn snapped, slamming his fork down. "You’re comparing the Thorne Alph

The dust from the shattered wall hadn't even settled before the Thorne brothers began their "Operation Fortress.""This room is compromised," Ryker barked, stepping over the remains of the shadow assassin. "Finn, get the staff. Silas, Orion, start moving her essentials. She’s moving into the Royal Vault Suite tonight.""The Vault Suite?" Elara gasped, clutching her robe. "Ryker, that room hasn't been used in fifty years! It has three-foot-thick titanium doors!""Exactly," Orion grunted, already lifting her heavy oak vanity as if it were made of cardboard. "And it’s situated right between Ryker’s bedroom and mine. If a shadow even thinks about flickering in there, it’ll have to go through us first."Elara watched in a mix of exhaustion and amusement as her four brothers, the most powerful Alphas in the territory began lugging her dresses, jewelry boxes, and books down the hall like a group of highly overqualified mover
