Chapter Thirteen

By the side of a dimly lit room, a child huddled by the corner, his body bled from stripes of cane. He was naked and frightened. He had arrived here over a year and it seem like no one was ready to get him out of this place. He couldn't understand why he had to go through this pain.

“Mama” he cried out quietly as frightened tears poured out of his eyes.

The door to the room opened and a girl in a floral dress walked in. She looked a few years younger than him. As she stepped closer to him, he let out a growl, warning her to keep away, but she seem to be more interested in him than his warning because she stopped in front of him and before he could talk, she laid her hand on his shoulder. Immediately, the bleeding stopped, the wound did not visibly heal but he felt a fuzzy feeling that the pain had stopped. His eyes widened at her but she smiled brightly,

“I hope you don't feel pain again.” She said, looking genuinely concerned for the crying child

“Thank you”, the beaten child whisper
