Cassandra 's pov
“Fuck fuck fuck!” I cursed as I rushed through the crowded bus stop and made my way to the station. I did not drive back home yesterday so I was forced to take the bus this morning and I hated every second of it. And on top of that I was late already. It was a miracle that my partner, Lewis, hasn't blown my phone to smithereens with calls. I got to the Precinct And without wasting time I rushed to the chief's office. I could already hear him conversing with someone inside and I assumed it to be Lewis. “hello miss greyhound” the chief greeted. I could feel my cheeks turn red as I was already late. “I am so sorry chief, yesterday was a really crazy day and I was….” “I think that is enough miss greyhound.” Another voice came into the office. It was the same man from yesterday, it only occurred to me that I did not get his name from our little encounter yesterday. “We're really behind schedule.” He said as he winked at me. I awkwardly sat down on the chair provided. “Detective greyhound, meet our special crime consultant on the cases you've been assigned to, Mr Nikolas .” “Excuse me sir, but Mr Nikolas ?” I asked. That name was not hard to remember in this little city Who knew the most talked about billionaire was also a crime consultant. “Yes, have you both met?” The chief asked. “Sure,” The man said. I could only nod. “Good, this means you both will find it easy to share ideas and views.” “Of course chief,” Nikolas said as he held up his hands and shook the chief firmly. The chief called me aside and whispered in my ears, “this is the chance you've been waiting for to prove yourself.” And with that he walked away. “You're doing a good job pretending that you do not know me.” Nikolas said as he swerved like a spoilt child in his father's office chair “I don't.” I snapped. “Sure you do,but that is not why we are here now is it?” “What are you talking about?” I asked. “The sex we had last night!” I felt my blood run cold,I remember the part where I was nearly killed by some creature but how did having sex with the eccentric billionaire escape my memory?. “The fuck?” I cursed as I made a move to slap him across the face. “Slow down, I was kidding.” “Well that joke was not funny.” “I thought as much,” he said, “let's get out of here and have coffee, there's a lot we have to discuss.” He said. “I am not leaving, whatever you need to tell me can be done here, I am not leaving this station with you.” “There is a serious case going on here and there I have no time for coffee.” Nikolas looked around like he had a huge secret to spill before he continued. “Sure, if you say so, you're a werewolf!” He said. “A werewolf?” I asked, stifling the laughter that threatened to erupt from my lips. “Uh huh?” He nodded his head. As if on cue my neck began to throb. I turned around and stared at my reflection in the mirror, hardly recognizing the person staring back at me. I touched my neck, that was the thing that felt wrong when I woke up this morning. It looked like a bite mark. That's when Nikolas 's reflection appeared behind mine. With his entire body leaning towards the wall and his piercing eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity, he said, "You're one of us now," I felt a shiver run down my spine. "What do you mean?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Nikolas stepped closer, his eyes never leaving mine. "You've been bitten. You're a werewolf now." “Ha ha, very funny” I laughed, “this is some sort of prank is it not” I asked him. “Try as much as you can, you can not deny the fact that this is something that you are drawn to, you can feel the change inside you!” “You're not the same lady you were a few hours ago.” “That's enough!” I fired. I was already scared and unsure of what this meant for me and the future I was trying to build. “You still have my card?” Nikolas asked. I felt my pocket,it was tucked in neatly there. He continued not waiting for my answer, “feel free to call me whenever, especially tonight.” “What's happening tonight?” I asked curious. “It's a full moon, it might be quite an experience for you, I mean, being a new wolf and all.” “This is quite stupid if you ask me, but sure, I can see you have other things in mind besides the cases we have at hand.” “Just call me when it gets too overwhelming, you would not want to do something you would regret.” He said as he walked out of the chief's office. “Come on, we have a case to solve.” He said as he held the door open for me. …… Everything went normal until night time. The cases just led to the same dead end that it always had. I went home frustrated and I made dinner. Halfway through dinner and three episodes of my favourite series I began to feel odd. I glanced around the room, as a growing sense of unease washed all over me. Everything seemed too bright, too loud, too overwhelming at the same time. I could feel my heart pound in my chest, and my breath coming in short, sharp gasps. I made to stand up to get my EpiPen, perhaps I was having an allergic reaction to something, but what? I tried to take a step forward, but my legs felt like jelly. My muscles trembled and my senses were on high alert. I could smell the sweat on my skin, the leather of my jacket, and the faint scent of... something else. Something wild. I spun around, trying to locate the source of the smell, but there was nothing there. The room was empty, except for me. The conversation I had with Nikolas the eccentric and now crime consultant billionaire played over and over in my mind's eye. “Oh no, there has to be something else.” I muttered to myself as I tried to push aside the narrative of me being a werewolf. And then, I saw it. The full moon, hanging low in the sky outside my window. I felt a growl rising in my throat, a low, rumbling sound that sent shivers down my spine. “Oh hell no!” I cursed as I reached for my jacket and the phone at the same time as I called Nikolas . “I feel... off.” I said as soon as he picked the call. “And a good evening to you too.” He said. I ignored his sarcasm and continued. “My heart is racing and my senses are on high alert.” “ Every little sound makes me jump, and I can smell things I never noticed before. It's like my body is humming with energy, and I don't know what to do with it.” “I told you that this would happen earlier today.” “Enough with the werewolf thing, you did something to me, I want you to come undo it,is this some sick prank or something?” “You need to calm down.” He said over the phone. “Never tell a woman to call down” I retorted, “I feel anxious, restless, and... hungry?” “I don't know what's happening to me and you're telling me to calm down?” I could hear him chuckle, “give me a few minutes, I'll be right over!”Cassandra 's pov. I fluttered my eyes to find myself in a dimly lit room. I tried to get up from the seat where I was, only to discover that I was restrained to it. “The fuck!” I cursed, “what's happening here!” I yelled. “Detective….” A deep shrill voice responded from the shadows, “you of all people should know how to be careful with their choice of language.” I was livid. “Get me out of this fucking place, you're dealing with an officer if the law, wait till my partner comes to bust this place.” “Which of your partners?” the voice asked mockingly. “Show yourself if you're not that much of a coward.” I spat. “Well if you want to see the face of a coward that badly why don't I show you one.” A clap echoed through where I was restrained and slowly the lights came on from the end of the hall till it filled the entire hall. “Nikolas !” I gasped, “what did you do to him?” I yelled. Nikolas was tied to a chair just as I was. The only difference between the both of us was that
Nikolas 's POV “You've gotten your end of the bargain, now keep your own end of the deal!” “And how are we certain that this is not one of your failed guesses? What do you have as proof that you've delivered the goddess to us!” I took a deep breath, I was impatient, tej longer I stayed here the more I was prone to changing my mind on this mission. I knew that my feelings and Intuition alone was not enough to convince them so I had to settle for the next best thing. “I was not sure, your mercenary was careless.” “She could tell of your activities even though she was human…” “But you brought us a werewolf!” The representative of the Shadow interrupted. “I had to preserve her, The Shadow was inpatient and the Shadow sent a careless fool to do their dirty job even though I told them that I was on the case.” “Are you calling the shadow a fool!” The representative thundered. I went on one knee immediately, I knew that I had lost control of myself. Why was I willing to throw it a
Nikolas's pov. I stood at the balcony of my room. From that position I could see the entire blueboard city. The moon was rising as a knowing smile spread across my face. This was bliss… “Grrrringggg” “Right on time” I said and picked up the landline. “I feel... off.” She was already showing signs of her transformation faster than I thought. Even mine was not this fast with the full moon. But I knew who she was. I could not let her die that night. The shadow always wanted to lay waste to everything but I knew better than that secret organisation of over powered beings. I had to bite her, to turn her into a wolf. I could not let the goddess of the night slip away as a result of one careless mercenary. We've waited for long to have her and I was not willing to wait for another century to find her again. “And a good evening to you too.” I replied. “My heart is racing and my senses are on high alert.” she said as she continued, ignoring my greetings. “ Every little sou

Cassandra ’s pov“This is getting more ritualistic by the day.” I said aloud as I walked out the morgue. This was the third death in two days and there were reports about missing persons.“I doubt there is anything too serious about it, we have no motive yet, the deaths so far seem to happen at the bars.”I halted in my tracks as I looked up to Lewis,my partner who made that comment.“Sure, should we ignore the symbol carved into the victims?” I said.“What symbols?” He asked.“What do you mean what symbols, each of them had something carved into them right on their collarbone, if I knew better I would say it was a sigil.”“Well,” Lewis said as he shrugged his shoulders, “they might have been new recruits into gangs, I mean we have these cases almost everyday.”“It does not mean that it is something serious, it's one of those murders that happen when drunk people collide.” He said as he walked away to his car.“Sure…” I sighed, “write off my opinion and observations as extra”Being
