The next day, Evans arrived at the university.

Today was strictly practicals and taking histories.

He had made a quick revision at home very early in the morning. He was one of the most intelligent students in his former university before he was transferred here.

As he arrived in front of the lecture hall, every eye fell on him. He halted then turned his gaze to the hall stage.

Those bullies.

They were there and they had menacing looks on their faces.

Evans summoned courage and walked in.

“Hey, boy.”

He paused then shifted his gaze to the direction of the voice. A tall and bulky guy came forward, he had been standing behind the other boys. His hair was dyed orange and his hands were in his pockets.

“You must be the new boy who stood against my boys, aren’t you?” Edward inquired, his eyes scanning Evans.

“And you must be Edward? It is a shame that your friends rely on you before they can beat someone up. Bunch of cowards.” Evans retorted and the group’s expression hardened while the students watching gasped.

Edward gave out a faint laugh as he walked toward Evans steadily. “I like this boy.” As he got to Evans’s front, his expression became unreadable. “You will fit into our group. You are bold and that's what we’re looking for.”

Evans scoffed and then leaned forward. “Stop fooling around and face your studies. Your parents' position might not save you one day.”

Edward furrowed his brows and then said in a low tone. “I know what you are.”

Evans raised an eyebrow. “What?”

“Let’s meet..tomorrow at the basketball court.” He answered back then patted Evans on his shoulder but Evans shook it off instantly. “Play nice or I might kill you without anyone knowing.”

Evans watched as Edward walked away, whistling.

“You can continue with your lecture,” Edward said to the quiet lecturer sitting in one of the students’ seats.

Evans' eyes gleamed with hatred as the group left, they all bumped into him as they left the lecture hall.

“What the hell is happening here?”

Jasmine demanded from behind.

She had also just arrived as the group left.

Without a response, Evans walked up to his seat followed by Jasmine. The lecturer began his lectures as if nothing had happened.

“Hey. What did they say to you? That's Edward, isn't it?” Jasmine questioned softly.

Evans' eyes remained on the lecturer.

“I am talking to you…

“Would you keep quiet?” Evans cut in as he turned his gaze to hers. “Mind your business and stay out of mine.”

Jasmine froze.

Taken back his cold reply but instead of getting angry, her expression softened and she said in a low tone.

“Life is hard on all of us. If you need someone to share things with, you can talk to me.”

Evans scoffed. “Life is hard on all of us? You're an heiress, madam lecturer. Now, for the last time, mind your business and stay out of mine. Okay?”

Jasmine exhaled softly and then turned her gaze to the table.

Evans could barely pay attention to the lecture.

I know what you are.

What does he mean?

Does he know he can see visions?

That's impossible.

From the corner of his eyes, he could see that Jasmine was not writing nor was she listening. She wasn't even looking at the lecturer, her gaze was somewhere else. It was fixed on the window.

He followed her gaze and that was when he saw her.

At first, there was nothing but he saw her.

The girl who breezed past him yesterday.

Standing outside the lecture hall and curling her hair with her finger. She was chewing gum as if she had all the time in the world.

Clad in all black.

Her arms were crossed and their gaze met. She waved at him then smiled sweetly.

Evans’s breath hitched as Jasmine turned her gaze to meet his. He quickly looked away.

How long has she been there?

He had been trying to search for yesterday but couldn't find her. He mustered the courage and then shifted his gaze back to the girl. Thankfully, Jasmine had focused her attention on the lecturer.

The girl in an all-black outfit tilted her head then motioned for him to come out.

Evans frowned.

She must have known that he had been looking for her.

Without thinking further, Evans stood up. The chair scraped lightly against the floor, calling glances on him.

“Where are you going?, young man?” The lecturer inquired.

“I..I need some air.” He replied and walked out of the hall before anyone could question him any further.

As he stepped outside, the cold air hit his face. She was not standing by the window…she had breezed past him again…as if she had such supernatural abilities.

“You missed me..again.”

The voice came from behind and he turned quickly. Her hands were tucked in her jacket and her eyes were fixed on him with great intensity.

“Why were you spying on me?” Evans questioned, his tone laced with curiosity.

Her expression remained unreadable. “So,” She stepped toward, her heels clicking on the floor. “You have met Edward.”

Evans narrowed his eyes. “It seems you know him too well.”

“Nope.” She replied then her expression turned serious. “I just know he's not like the others and neither are you.”

“What are you talking about?”

A faint smile appeared on her lips.

“You shouldn’t still be in denial…not after what had happened to your sister.”

Evans’s expression hardened. “What do you know about my sister?”

She raised her hands in the air then chuckled. “Calm down, four eyes. There is a lot you don't know and you really don’t want to mess with me. Not when you've not found your true self.”

Evans clenched his fists. “If you are going to continue to speak in riddles…I’m out of here.”

“Tomorrow.” She began and he halted. “Don’t go to the basketball court alone…not when you're still a weakling.”

“You think I'm scared of him?”

“To the city?”“Yes.” Her gaze lowered slightly. “Rafael assured us that he would handle things. He told us that he’d definitely do everything he can to make the elders understand, even though the pack wasn’t happy that Zephyr was leaving. They believed Alpha was abandoning his pack for a woman who wasn’t even his Alpha.”Then a genuine warmth spread across her face.“In the city… we were happy. We were truly happy.”Evans stayed silent as tears dropped from her eyes.“Your father tried so hard to live normally. Due to his intelligence, he rose quickly in the business world and owned a few companies. In the city, there was no pack politics, no violence or bloodshed.”“And then? What happened?” Evans asked quietly.Jane’s smile disappeared, and then there was a drizzle of rain outside. Evans shifted his gaze to the windows, then stood up. He walked to the windows, the cold breeze met him as he closed them calmly. Then he returned to sit beside her, as he raised his hand to clean her te

Something unusual was surrounding him, and his presence had made the air shifted.“Mom,” he said, his tone was calm but underneath it was something familiar that Jane recognized.Jane slowly cleaned her wet hands with the apron around her neck. “What happened?”Evans stepped closer. “Who was my father?”A flicker of fear crossed Jane’s face, but she forced a smile.“Don’t you have classes today?”“I’m serious.”Jane swallowed hard. “Evans… what kind of question is that?”“No,” he replied immediately. “No beating around the bush and no more avoiding it. You’re going to say the truth today, only the truth.”His tone made her heartbeat quicken, and he heard it. He tilted his head, an amused smile crossed his lips.“You knew,” he continued. “You know what I am. You knew about the pack. You knew whatever killed my father was out there and still looking for me.”Jane furrowed her brows, as if not understanding what he said. “Evans… I am not sure what you mean, but what are you saying? Evans nodded. “You have been avoiding me since whatever happened on Friday night. I sent a text message which was delivered but you did not reply.”Ophelia scoffed softly. “Maybe I have more busy things to deal with than you, who seem interested in Jasmine’s attention to even notice.”“This…again?”“Just don’t provoke me.” She answered immediately, but her tone was different.Evans noticed and, as he studied her carefully for the first time, something felt different about her. It wasn’t anger or irritation, it was something different.Ophelia’s hands clenched at her sides, she hated that he noticed. She was beginning to lose control of what she shouldn’t have felt in the first place, especially not for the Alpha she was sent to watch.Evans took the coffee in the car, and the ride to the training ground was quiet. He did not pester, nor did he say a word.Soon, they arrived at the training ground, and the clouds were clearer after all, it was still early in the morning. The trees surr

“What do you mean?”“What do I mean? You know what I meant very well.”Ophelia scoffed. “Are you just paying attention now? It's too late, Evans.”Evans furrowed his brows. “And what's that supposed to mean?”Ophelia relaxed in her seat. “I’m just focused on getting you home safely.”Evans looked at her for a few seconds and said, “You have been acting strange ever since Jasmine showed up. Wanna share why?”Ophelia’s jaw tightened. “She is obviously distracting you.”Evans blinked, unsure if he heard well. “What?”“Your focus should be on training and finding the people or person who murdered your father, Evans.” She replied, her tone sharper. “Not sitting in the backseat and staring into someone’s eyes. You know how many times we have wasted?”Evans moved forward slightly. “That's not what happened. You heard our conversation, didn't you?”“Of course I did, but are you sure that's not what happened?”Evans’ expression changed. “Why do you care though?”The question lingered in the ai

Evans straightened and then walked up to Ophelia even though his steps weren’t steady. “Why? I told you I saw something, doesn’t that count?”“You saw something, but it wasn’t clear. This is the second time we are here and we can’t figure out anything,” she retorted calmly. “Why don’t all of us leave for our respective homes and have a good night’s rest? We can come back anytime.”“I think she’s right, Evans,” Jasmine proclaimed.Ophelia scoffed. “You think? You saw what happened right now, didn’t you? Now, if you would be so kind, advise your friend, if you really care for him, to leave here. We will come back soon.”Both watched as Ophelia walked away, her steps steady and confident.“What’s wrong with her?” Evans asked no one in particular.“She’s right, Evans,” Jasmine retorted calmly. “We have to leave. Probably when she has trained you well to control your inner energy, we can come back.”Evans was reluctant. He knew whatever he saw was important and he needed to start working,

“I will become stronger. You said it yourself that I’m unrefined and I need training,” he proclaimed firmly. “You will train me more properly than you’ve done.”Ophelia stood up, her expression changing. “The last time I trained you properly, as I should, you lost control. You think I should push you harder than that?”“Yes.”Ophelia noticed that there was no hesitation in his voice. His words were firm, and his eyes gleamed with determination.Ophelia laughed then rested her hand on the arm of the chair. “You are actually oblivious to what you’re asking of.”“Make it clear to me. That’s your job.”“That’s enough,” Jasmine declared, and both of them looked at her. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was enough to stop their argument. “This won’t do anything. Arguments won’t make him stronger. We have to join hands instead of fighting each other.”“Why don’t you train him, Jasmine?” Ophelia inquired, stepping forward slowly.Jasmine furrowed her brows. “He was assigned to you.
