Chapter 39: Ryder

Ryder scanned through the names of the newest members of their pack family. He had decided to add the names of the werewolves that were rescued in the woods, even though Mark had objected to it.

He was about to pick up his pen to tick a name on the list when his phone rang. Without looking at the caller ID, he answered it.

"Ryder," his nerves growing in shock. "Asher!" Surprise bubbled in his voice as he answered.

"Is it you, Asher?" he asked, unable to believe it.

"Where are you?" he asked, praying that Asher was safe.

"I'm alright, I escaped. I just wanted to let you know. How are you doing?"

Relief flooded Ryder upon hearing the news that Asher was alright. For the past week, he had hardly slept, knowing that his brother was gone.

"Where are you now? Tell me," Ryder asked.

"I can't say yet. A lady is helping me. When I find out, I will let you know."

"Okay, please remember to call."

"I know." The call ended with Asher hanging up.

Jubilation bubbled inside Ryder's heart. He couldn't
