It was a fifteen-minute ride from the airport to the address sent to Amelia by the real estate agent, who was supposed to show her around the new apartment she had rented before returning to New York City.

Getting down from the car, Amelia paid the driver before heading to the entrance of the apartment, and with that, she placed a soft knock on the door and waited for the door to be opened.

"A minute, please." A voice sounded from inside, and after a while the door burst open, revealing a man who was probably in his late forties.

"Good afternoon, Mr. James," Amelia greeted the real estate agent as he opened the door.

"Yes, good afternoon, it's Mrs. Jones, right?" The real estate agent asked Amelia, who nodded in reply, and with that he shot her a strange look as if he had just remembered something about her.

"Is everything okay?" Amelia, who didn't fail to realise the change on the man's face, asked him.

"Yes, everything is okay. Tell me, have we met before?" The real estate agent asked Amelia, who furrowed her brows at him before taking a proper look at him to see if she would recall seeing him somewhere.

"No," Amelia said to him after some minutes of reflection.

"Why do you ask, by the way?" Amelia asked him.

"Well, your face looks familiar, but I still can't recall where I saw it," the real estate agent said to Amelia, who only raised her shoulders in reply.

"Well, I have been away from New York City for the past five years; maybe the person you are referring to is someone who resembles me," Amelia said to the real estate agent, who was still trying to figure out where he had seen her.

"Well, you might be right; after all, it's normal for people to resemble each other even if they aren't related. Please follow me; let me show you around the apartment," the real estate agent said to Amelia as he led her inside.

"Wait, I think I just remembered where I saw your face for the first time," the real estate agent said to Amelia, who furrowed her brows at him.

"Are you somehow related to the Richards family?" The real estate agent asked Amelia, and immediately she swallowed hard.

It hasn't even been up to twenty-four hours since she returned to New York City, and someone has already recognised her. Even though she has expected people to recognise her when she returns, she didn't expect it to be this early. If the news of her return escalates this soon, then she's going to have a really hard time, especially with the competition she came back for.

"No, my surname is Jones and not Richard, or do I resemble someone from the Richard family?" Amelia asked the real estate agent with furrowed brows.

"Yes, you do. Five years ago, the eldest daughter of the Richard family disappeared after her wedding with the eldest son of the Williams family. A search notice was immediately issued throughout the whole city after her disappearance, and the Williams family even promised to give one million dollars to whoever succeeds in finding her. It's a pity that no one has been able to find her till now," the real estate agent said to Amelia.

"Wow, that's really a nice story. Not only do I resemble the lady you are talking about, but I also left five years ago. What a coincidence," Amelia said to the real estate agent.

"Yes, it's really a coincidence, and believe me, many people are going to mistake you for the lost daughter of the Richard family in the coming days; the only thing that is going to save you is your surname, which isn't Richard," the real estate agent said to Amelia.

"Well, it's been five years; surely many people have already forgotten about it. You probably have a good memory; that's why you were able to recall it," Amelia said to the real estate agent.

"You absolutely do; I have a good memory. You aren't the first to say that," the real estate agent said to Amelia while looking at his wristwatch.

"Well, let me quickly show you around the apartment; I still have other clients to meet with, and I don't want to be late," the real estate agent said to Amelia before motioning her to follow him so that he can show her around the apartment, and with that, Amelia followed him from behind.

Meanwhile, Edward could be seen sitting in the back of his car while tapping angrily on the screen of his phone.

"Damn these traffic lights; why is it now of all times that there would be a traffic jam, and why are the damn traffic lights so difficult to hack?" he muttered angrily while trying to hack the traffic light's system.

After what seemed like an eternity, Edward was finally able to hack into the traffic light's system, and without thinking twice, he made the lights on his side remain steady green, and with that, he tossed the phone away before looking at the driver, who was still lost in his thoughts as he couldn't believe that his boss had just hacked into the traffic light's system. Since when he knew him, this was his first time seeing him being so worked up because of the traffic lights; if not, he never cared if there was a traffic jam or not. After all, he could come by any time he wants to any event, and no one would dare question him about why he was late, so this was his first time seeing him being in a hurry to go somewhere.

"Aren't you going to move this damn car, or do you want a picture of me?" Edward thundered angrily at the driver, jolting him back to reality.

"No sir, I'm so sorry." The driver said to Edward with a trembling tone before hitting the accelerator pedal and zooming off.

After driving for some minutes, they finally got to the destination, and immediately he pulled over, Edward, unlike before, opened the door of the car and got down without even waiting for the driver to come and open the door for him.

Getting down from the car, he walked directly to the apartment right in front of him and tried opening the door, but to his greatest disappointment, the door was locked.

Groaning angrily, he turned his gaze towards the driver, who swallowed hard as he saw the angry look on Edward's face.

"Hope you are happy now; she has already left," Edward said to the driver, who furrowed his brows at him.

"Who, sir?" The driver asked Edward with a confused tone.

"Your head, you damn head," Edward said to the diver while fuming in anger.

Bringing out his phone from his pocket, Edward quickly placed a call to his informant, who had told him about Amelia's return."Hello, sir," the informant's voice sounded through the phone after the call was picked up."Where is she?" Edward asked him immediately."Who, please, is it your wife?" the informant asked Edward, who scoffed in disbelief."And who the hell will I be asking about? Where the fuck is she, goddamnit?" Edward asked the informant with an angry tone."I'm sorry, sir, but I don't know where she is," the informant said to Edward with a low tone."And what exactly do you mean by you don't know where she is?" Edward asked him with a cold and menacing tone."Well, after I sent you her location, something came up, so I had to leave to attend to it. That's why I wasn't able to keep an eye on her until you met up with her. I thought she would be where she was until you arrived," the informant said to Edward, who sighed heavily in order to calm himself."Find her; you have

    It was a sunny day at LaGuardia Airport, one of the biggest airports in New York City. People could be seen walking in and out of the airport with their luggage. Meanwhile, Amelia could also be seen walking out of the airport premises while dragging her luggage, and right beside her was Dave, who was holding her second free hand. "Mummy, is Dad coming to pick us up?" Dave asked Amelia as they were walking out of the airport, but as Amelia was about to reply, she spotted Sarah, who was walking towards her while grinning ear to ear. "And who do we have here?" Sarah asked Amelia as she got closer to her, and with that, she hugged her tightly. "You don't know how much I have missed you," Sarah said to Amelia while hugging her. "You don't know how much I have missed you too, bestie," Amelia said to her while hugging her back. Disengaging from the hug, Sarah's gaze traveled to little Dave, who was standing beside Amelia. Seeing him, the first person that came to her mind was Edward;

*Five Years Later* It was a cold morning in Icon Models, one of the biggest modeling firms in Canada.A lady probably in her late forties could be seen sitting in her office while going through some files on her computer.Suddenly a soft knock was heard from outside, causing her to turn her gaze towards the door."Who is that?" She asked while raising her voice a little bit so that the person that is knocking could hear her voice."It's me," a female voice sounded from outside."Come in, please," the lady instructed, and with that, the door burst open, revealing a young lady who was no one else than Amelia."Good morning, Mrs. Cassandra," Amelia greeted the lady with a warm smile as she walked into the office."Good morning, Amelia, please have a seat," Mrs. Cassandra, who was the owner of the firm, said to Amelia as she pointed at the chair opposite her, and with that, Amelia walked to the chair and sat down."So how was your vacation?" • Mr. Edward's Substitute Bride    Chapter 2: Cold Reality

"Mrs. Amelia Richard, do you take Edward William to be your lawful wedded husband, to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?" The priest’s voice echoed through the chapel, but it felt distant, as though his words were reaching Amelia from a faraway place. His question jolted her back to the present, but the reality she faced was far from the love life she had imagined.Amelia's gaze fell upon Edward, the man who was now meant to be her forever. But as her eyes met his, she was hit with a cold chill. His cold gaze, one that had haunted her since the previous day when he came to pick up from her house, pierced through her. That same coldness that had made her feel so small, so insignificant, when he arrived to pick her up.The only time his demeanor had softened, if it could even be called that, was when he returned dr

"No, Dad, I'm not going to do it. I’m not going to marry Mira’s fiancé," Amelia yelled angrily, her voice breaking with a mixture of frustration and helplessness."Lia, can you for once stop being selfish?" Richard’s voice was cold, indifferent. "You know how much this marriage means to us. Your sister is nowhere to be found, and we can't afford to offend the Williams family. The only solution now is for you to take her place and marry him. Do you want the company to go bankrupt?" His eyes never wavered from his phone, as if he were discussing something trivial.Amelia’s hands trembled at her sides. "But why me, Dad? Why do I always have to be the one to suffer because of Mira’s mistakes?" Tears blurred her vision as the weight of the situation pressed down on her.Claudia, her stepmother, crossed her arms, her tone harsh. "Well, that’s because you’re the older sister. Sometimes, you have to cover up for her, and that’s exactly what we need you to do now."Amelia’s heart hammered in h
