LOGINChapter 42
She Is Mine. Sage Dominic. I looked between Lyla and Elijah's girlfriend, and I could tell they were trying hard to keep something from me, but I wasn't interested in whatever they were hiding. I was here for Lyla. And although I was worried for her, I knew that the principal was soon going to put her daughter in line. When the door closed behind us, leaving Lyla and me in the office, her gaze turned cold. “What can I do for you, Mr. Dominic.” Her voice was as icy as her demeanor. She straightened her clothes and went behind her desk to sit. “Lyla…" My voice softened. I didn't know how to apologize. I never apologized, and it was weird to think I was going to do so. “There are things you don't quite understand, and I would rather not drag you into the middle of it all.” She scoffed and let out a small chuckle. “How can I help you, Mr. Dominic? As you can see, I have a lot of work on my table, and I can't entertain a long conversation with anyone. Do you have questions about my last class? Is there anything you'd want to get clarity on?" Her voice was still as professional as ever as she gestured to the pile of exercise books on her table. The corners of my mouth lifted in a smile. I made my way towards the table where she sat and sat on the table directly in front of her. She was taken aback for a few seconds, but she quickly regained her composure and shifted away from me. “Er… Erm..." She cleared her throat, covering how flustered she was at our proximity. “This is an invasion of space, Mr. Dominic. I do not appreciate it.” I was about to tease her when my fingers came in contact with something that was stuck under her table. My fist closed on it as I pulled it out to examine what it was. “Why do you have a recorder?” Lyla was the first to notice what it was, and a suspicious look crossed her face. My mind only settled on one person who was responsible for this. I gritted my teeth and balled my fists in anger, standing up from the chair and stalking out of her office. What was wrong with this girl? Why couldn't she just stop poking her nose where it wasn't wanted? When would she stop? I found no signs of her around the corridors since it was recess period, but I spotted Elijah at once. “Yo, I've been looking for you. You just upped and left.” Elijah frowned as he watched me approaching. I knew he could see the cloud of fury on my face as I neared him, and his brows knitted together in a frown. “What's up? Did you guys have a fight again?” I slammed the recording pen down so hard on the table that it made him flinch. “Can you control your whore? Tell her to stop poking her nose where it isn't wanted.” I fumed as I said slowly to him. He didn't react for a second until his pupils constricted and his eyebrows pinched together. “You dare to call Sara a whore?” He stood to his full height, which wasn't as tall as me. His threatening stance did not scare me one bit. “I don't give a damn! But she can be sticking her pens everywhere, except where I frequent. I have warned her mother about her, and I am warning you too about her. This is all because of the little shred of respect I have for both of you. If I face her, believe me, you'll be crying over her coffin at her funeral.” I almost didn't see his fist swinging my way. It was a close shave, but I still managed to dodge. “Don't try to trade fists with me. You would lose before the fight even starts.” With that, I walked away. The fury was still burning in my line of sight… until I spotted Lyla at the entrance of the cafeteria, looking at me with a difficult expression on her face. I averted my gaze from her and was about to walk past her when I heard Elijah coming after her. “It was you, wasn't it? You pushed him to do this, didn't you?” This was the very first time I heard Elijah furious. Lyla paled and shook her head as Elijah stalked towards her, the anger blurring his vision as he pushed past some students. “I don't know what is going on between you two, but it has to—” Lyla was trying to explain when Elijah grabbed her by the shoulders, shaking and pushing her. “I didn't do anything.” Lyla's voice shook in alarm. The fear in her eyes was something I hated. If she had to be scared of anything or anyone, it should be me. Not a boy with puny little fingers. No one's hands were fit to touch her because even if she didn't know it, she was my woman. She will be my woman. It didn't matter how long it would take, but I was going to make her mine. I saw red the minute Elijah's fingers touched her skin. It wasn't difficult to hurl him off her, nor was it hard to throw a series of punches at his face. “No! Sage, stop this nonsense. Both of you!” Lyla came to our side, but she didn't interfere. From the corner of my eye, I saw her looking around to the students for help, but no one would dare interrupt the fight. Elijah was fighting back fiercely, but he was no match for me. I was a black belt holder in karate, and I knew other fighting techniques from other martial arts. After a while, he gave up, breathing so hard while I hadn't even broken a sweat. “The next time you put a finger on Lyla…" I hissed into his ears, “I would damn the relationship between our fathers and make you suffer.” I stood up from his body, satisfied with the bloody mess on his face. His brown hair was matted with blood as it stuck to his forehead. “You're making a big mistake with that woman.” He spat out a mouthful of blood as he winced in pain. “She will ruin you, Sage. She is a teacher for goodness sake! And she is married! Stop this madness now.” I folded my fist and gave him one last punch, watching his head and body slump back into the floor. “And never speak about her to me again!”Chapter 50The Twist.Lyla Atelo.“I'm not…”“…wealthy enough to purchase this? Of course I know that. Sage gifted this to you, right?” Her eyes were beaming in joy. She didn't look disgusted at all about anything.“What other things did he get for you?” She peered into the box that sat in front of us, trying to rummage through it.“You know I can't accept this, right?” Right now, I needed her support for me to turn down these gifts. It was too much. I couldn't handle something this big.“Why not?” Ivy paused and lifted her head to stare at me with a frown.“It's not right, and you know that.” I tried to stress out, but Ivy didn't seem to be following. “He is… you know, he's my student. I'm his teacher. This kind of thing isn't supposed to be going on between us.”Ivy's eyebrows rose further up and she rolled her eyes. “Take it as a simple gift from a student.”“Simple? You call this simple?” I pointed to the document that still lay on the table. “It's a freaking Jewellery store. Not
Chapter 49A Brand New Owner.Lyla Atelo.Sage wasn't in school for the rest of the week, and today was Friday. I had texted him over and over again, but he never responded. I was tempted to go over to his house, but I didn't want a repeat of the last time.I was currently sitting in my office when the door was forcefully pushed open, and my least favourite person walked into the office.“Hello, Sara.” I folded my hands on my table and sat up to face her squarely. She gave me a once-over before taking in my office as if she had never been here before.“Will Sage be coming for Camp?” She asked outrightly.“Excuse me?”“You heard me right. Or are you dumb?”I choose to ignore her choice of words. “I heard you loud and clear, but what I don't understand is why you're asking me.”“Aren't you the one he's fucking?” She said calmly, not at all fazed by the vulgarity of what she was saying.“If you were remanded in court and asked to prove those allegations, would you be able to?”“Don't you
Chapter 48Naughty Little Slut.Lyla Atelo.I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and optimistic for some unknown reason. I turned to my side, watching Michael sleep peacefully beside me. I rolled my eyes and began to prepare for school.“You're quite late today. That's so unlike you.” Dominic, one of my male colleagues, pointed out as we walked side by side down the corridor.I shrugged. “I slept late, and I woke up late.”His mouth curved into a small smile, “Your husband kept you up all night, aye?” He teased slightly, and it took all of me not wince at his words.I forced a smile on my face with a little ‘heh heh’ to avoid the question. “So, are you prepared for the camping experience?”He understood my discomfort and immediately changed the subject. “I wasn't picked. There are only two male teachers coming while the rest are females. Aren't you aware of this?” He squinted as if trying to remember something. “Seeing that you're the coordinator of the camp?”“Coordinator?” I
Chapter 47Coming To Camp?Lyla Atelo.I came home with a stupid smile on my face. Sage had made my entire evening and I was just smiling like a fool.“You're back," my husband appeared from the corner of the doorway leading to the kitchen. He wore an apron which suggested that he was cooking.I frowned slightly at the sight of that, while waiting for him to complain that I had come home late.“I'm back, yes.” I smiled a little at him.“And in high spirits as well.” He noted that part, “I hope you had a great day at work.”“I did. How about you?” I shrugged off my shoulder bag which was beginning to get heavy and set it on the table, taking in a deep breath of what he was cooking.“I made dinner. Would you like some?” He noted the actions of my nose before asking, but I shook my head immediately.I knew my husband by now. I could guess what he wanted from me, but I waited for him to say it. Michael never did any nice things for me unless he wanted something in return, and this wasn't
Chapter 46Take Me Home.Lyla Atelo.Sage did not say anything until the car came to a stop in a luxurious shopping mall where he went back to driving mode, parking the car at the exclusive parking lot. He stepped out to open the car for me, taking my arm in his."What are you doing? Where are we going? Why are we here?" I asked him even if I could guess what exactly it was that we were doing here."Shopping." He shrugged. "I saw on the internet that you should take a woman shopping when she is angry. It— ""But I'm not angry. Why would I be?"He gave me a quick look before shutting the car. "Yeah, right, you aren't. But I'm here to apologise anyway."Amidst my protests, Sage had his arms hooked around mine until we reached one of the most expensive jewellery stores in the city."Pick anything you'd like. Diamonds. Gold. Silver. Precious stones. Anything." He said as he signalled one of the sales assistants to come over. The girl gave me a once-over, and she did not hide her displeasu
Chapter 45In The Car.Lyla Atelo."Get In the car, Lyla." Sage's voice came in a little stronger this time as he looked over my shoulders. "Unless you want your colleagues to keep speculating that something is going on between us."Our eyes met when he said that, and I paused to think. Did he also have in mind the same question I had? I wanted to ask if there was actually something going on between us, but I didn't dare voice my question out. I didn't want to sound desperate, but still... something that Michelle said earlier egged me at the back of my mind."What do you think about Ivy?" I averted my gaze from his face and looked down to the tarred road. I looked everywhere else but at him. "Is it true you're into older women, and I'm just one of your conquest?"I suddenly felt the cold night wind hit my skin, and I looked up in alarm to see Sage backing away from him. He stared at me with an emotion I couldn't decipher before spinning his car key between his thumb and index finger.
