The After Party

As I wake I feel cold and numb all over except for a painful, thunderclap headache, everything is dark apart from a few dim blurry lights coming from the trucks back lights. I don’t know if it’s my eyes or if it’s from the dark but I can’t seem to focus my eyes on anything. I go to rub my eyes to try and clear my vision and I realise my hands are tied. I know I’m in the back of a truck and it’s cold and windy. The truck is bouncing up and down as we drive along the uneven surface, it’s making me roll around uncontrollably and I keep knocking my head on the bottom of the truck bed. I can hear shouts and leery slurs coming from the cabs open windows.

That’s when I feel something heavy slam into me, something else is thumping around in the back of the truck next to me.

I strain my eyes in the pitch dark to try and make out what it is, it looks like a sack, but as my eyes adjust to the dark, attached to the sack looks like some kind of blond ruffled mop of fluff or hair. Then I see a glint of something in the blond mop. It's Callie's hair pin, in the shape of a heart.

A flash back of Callie admiring herself in the mirror, as she pinned her hair back with the silver heart shaped hairpin, turning to me smiling the biggest grin I have seen her smile in 10years. Absolutely beaming, "don't you think my hairpin is perfect for tonight?"

I replied, "what's so special about tonight?"

"tonight is the night" Callie screeched with glee, still grinning from ear to ear.

"he told me, tonight is a special night and that we should dress up real nice. Don't you get it?! Tonight's the night he's going to ask me!" Turning back to the full length mirror to admire her silver heart shaped hairpin and her midnight blue, low cut top that made her boobs pop, paired with my black miniskirt and killer heals. I could tell she was more excited then a kid at Christmas.

Reality hits and my stomach drops, I realise, it's Callie! It's Callie thumping around next to me.

Callie my sister, she's swaying back and forth with the movement of the truck. Her hands are tied and she’s out cold. I can’t make much out in the dark but I can see she’s naked apart from her mini skirt that's ridden up and is around her waist. She has panties on but they look torn and dark or dirty somehow. Its freezing, I feel numb and achy all at the same time, I too only have a torn top on and my panties. My right arm and my right butt cheek and hip feel like they've been through a meat grinder from the rough swaying and tossing about in the back of the truck.

I can’t remember how we got to be here, but I know that there is nothing good ahead. I need to wake Callie up so we can make a run for it the first chance we get.

  “Callie?” I call softly.

I use my legs that are also tied to push off the edge of the truck’s side panel to try and edge towards her.

  “Callie?”

I grab her arm with my tied hands and try to shake her awake.

"Callie?”

Oh Lord, please Lord, please let her be alive.

The loud drunken slurs still booming out of the cab, I hear someone say, “one of them’s awake”.

The truck slows down and I hear the back window of the cab slide open.

I decide to freeze, close my eyes and flop my head so it looks as if I’m still out. I don't realise it at first, but I'm holding my breath as I try to feign being knocked out, I can feel and hear my own heart thumping hard from within my chest while my eyes are closed.

The truck speeds up again and I hear one of them say with a deep, gruff tone that sends shivers down my spine, “not to worry, we’re nearly there and they're tied, so even if the drugs are wearin off they won’t be able to make a runner. Not yet anyhow”, he sniggers.

“Besides they need to wake up sometime, or it won’t be much fun for us, now will it?”

I hear him take a swig of his drink and then I hear the bottle smash against a tree as he must have thrown the empty bottle out of window.

  “Give me another bump.”

The truck sways as I hear him sniffing hard.

That voice, it sends shivers down my spine. It fills me with the fear of God. I don’t know what has happened to Callie and I, but I do know that whatever it was, he had something to do with it and as much as his voice fills me with fear and dread, I know that I HATE him more then I fear him.

“Callie.... Callie... wake up!” I push Callie as hard as I can.

  Nothing

I feel the truck slow down, it’s a relief because I'm not sure my right arm could take anymore of a beating from that ride.

I try to look around me, trying to see if there is a house or a building or a road or something that I can run to if I get the chance. But all I see is trees, trees for miles, a long, long dark road up what looks like a mountain, and more trees.

It's dark, darker then anywhere I've ever been before. No lights but the moon and stars in the sky, and even with the stars and moon the tall dark trees surrounding us make it impossible to see through the pitch black of the night.

...

I get another flash of memory back and remember that Callie had convinced me to go with her in a helicopter with some rich guys to what was supposed to be a quiet, friendly, weekend party in the Alaskan mountains.

She said that she’d met her dream man and that he was our ticket to a better life. That she was going to win him over and they would marry and she would be rich and take care of me for the rest of our lives.

The worst feeling of dread and despair wash over me. Like a hot, sickening wave washing over my body making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and causes my whole body to stiffen.

Oh Lord, what have we got ourselves into? What has Callie got us into?

This is far from the luxurious high flying life she’d described. How the hell are we going to get out of here?

I look at Callie, she’s out cold, even after all the jostling around in the back of the truck.

How the hell... am I...going to get us out of here?

The truck stops dead, and the panic in my mind goes quiet. My eyes wide and my ears pricked, everything dead silent besides for the three drunk bastards in the front of the cab swigging their booze and snorting their drugs.

I hear a groan from Callie.

  “Callie!” I whisper

“Callie, are you awake?” I look at her with a dogged determination, almost trying to will her awake with my mind. My eyes focusing so hard on her face, as if they are lasers that could burn her skin and wake her.

  Still nothing.

The drivers side door opens with a jolt and makes the whole truck sway. The driver climbs out and makes his way over to the back of the truck while the other two climb out of the passengers side door.

One of the two from the passengers side says, “hey Blake, are you sure you really want to do this?"

"I thought it was just a joke."

"I-I don’t know if I want to go through with this, it’s... it’s kind of fucked up man”.

The gruff voiced driver who I make out to be Blake the older of the three replies, “don’t be a f*cking pussy now! We decided to do this together. Besides we’ve all had our way with them. You want them goin to the police and you getting arrested and having to tell the police why you mutilated that ones privates like you did?”

What does he mean? mutilated privates, the thought rushes through me, maybe Callie is dead, maybe they hurt her so bad that she’s bled to death.

I feel so cold,

so numb,

I can’t tell if it’s me or not.

Oh God, please let it be me, please let it be me and not Callie. Please let her wake up....Lord! I'm not in the least bit religious, but I'm willing to try anything right now.

The one who spoke earlier, the one Callie was supposed to ‘win over and marry’, I recognise his voice now, Barry. He says, “hey, I was up for the druggin and the rough sex but you were the one that told us to do what we did with those things to them girls”.

Barry continues, “we were supposed to just drug em’ and have some fun and then drop em’ somewhere to sleep it off, you said them drugs would make it so they wouldn’t remember anything”.

  “HEY!”

Blake shouts, his voice booms through the silent forest, “don’t you go pointin fingers at me. You did this, same as me."

"You both did!” Looking back and forth between the other two men.

I can hear the anger in his voice. He sounds intimidating as hell.

“Now we got to get rid of them and make it so they never existed. You get me!"

"So why not have some fun while we doin it?”

He looks over at me and smiles with a disgusting grin that I will never forget. “Well hello darlin, you wakin up for us?” He says in an almost sweet but condescending manner. His face makes me sick to my stomach and the only thing I can think of is how I would love to KILL him.

If anyone ever deserved to die, it would be him!

He motions to one of the others and points to a locked box behind me. “Thomas!"

"get the key for the box, looks like the after party is about to begin”.
