Chapter Twenty One

Marc's face hardened, and a flicker of worry crossed his eyes. “I'll be there shortly,” he replied, his voice filled with determination.

Luke nodded and quickly exited the room, leaving Marc and me alone once again. We exchanged a knowing look, understanding the gravity of the situation.

“I guess we'll have to continue this later,” Marc said, a hint of disappointment in his voice.

I nodded, my heart still racing from the intensity of our moment. “We will, Marc. But right now, your duty calls.”

He kissed my forehead gently before heading towards the door. “I'll be back as soon as I can, Harlow. Stay safe.”

With those words, he left the room, leaving me with a mix of emotions. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of worry about Marc and what the council elders might have in store for him.

I decided not to be too worried and just waited for him in the study room, when a sewing book of his caught my attention and I could help but take it.
