Chapter 5

Author: Anonymous
On the day of the ceremony, a fleet of the Sterling family's black SUVs pulled up early to the private beachfront estate in the Procktoms.

The lawn was decorated with white sage for warding off evil and delicate baby's breath flowers. The sea breeze was gentle that June evening as the silver moon began to rise.

I fully expected Harrison to roll up to the altar in his wheelchair. So, I was surprised when I saw him standing at the other end of the red carpet, aided by a custom-built neural exoskeleton brace from some Scoron Valley lab or perhaps by the sheer force of his will alone.

Through my thin lace veil, I could see him giving me a gentle smile.

His warm, large hand held mine as he slowly walked with me toward the sacred altar, where the Moon Goddess would witness our vows.

As I looked up, I caught the fine sheen of sweat on his forehead. I knew forcing himself to stand despite his damaged nerves had to be agonizing. My heart stirred, and my protective instincts as a she-wolf began to surface.

The High Priest's voice was deep and solemn. Just as I turned around to recite the ancient bonding vows, a harsh wolf howl and loud commotion suddenly came from outside the estate.

"Get out of my way! That's my Luna!"

A figure forcefully shoved past the werewolf guards responsible for security. It was Blake, who had taken Sophia to a yacht show in the Procktoms.

With his tie askew and his hair messy, he looked utterly disheveled in his expensive suit, the sharp claws he'd forgotten to retract only adding to his pathetic appearance.

Only at this very second did he finally fish the invitation he'd shoved into his pocket carelessly and hurriedly check the two names printed side by side beneath the wax seal. Stella Lane. Harrison Sterling.

Those were the names he had personally made sure were printed on the declaration letters. It had been a joke he thought could never become reality.

Yet here they were, engraved in the most formal lettering on the gold-embossed invitation he held in his hands.

When he saw me standing at the altar in my white wedding dress, his eyes immediately turned red with fury. He roared, "What the hell are you doing? You're actually bonding with another wolf out of spite just because I'm a little late?"

Over 200 North Aforian werewolf elites stared at him in dead silence, looking at him like he was a clown.

Every single werewolf present knew that today was the day Stella Lane and Harrison Sterling would make their vows before the Moon Goddess.

The declaration had been sent out to all of North Aforia a whole week ago. And the Sterling family's ceremony preparations had been known by all. Harrison even had white roses from Cafodio flown in to carpet the entire aisle.

As Harrison's nephew, Blake should technically be showing respect right now and addressing me respectfully.

But he was obviously no longer thinking straight. Completely unaware of how ridiculous he looked, he wore an expression of smug condescension.

"You should know that I actually showed up late on purpose today. I wanted to leave you hanging to wear down that temper of yours. Now come with me. If you behave, I'll still let you be my mate in the future.

"And Uncle Harrison, how could you go along with her tantrum? Stella, what are you still standing around for? Let's go!"

As he spoke, he tried to unleash his aura to force me into submission.

After learning of Sophia's death, Blake went on a rampage in his run-down apartment for several days. In the end, though, there was nothing he could do.As time went on, he put that old carefree facade back on and tried to worm his way back into high society. He even showed up at a few pack gatherings, shooting me these creepy, repulsive glances.Luckily, it didn't take long for him to lose the right to show up in front of me. Desperate to restore the family's reputation, Eleanor hastily tried to set up a marriage of convenience for Blake. But after reaching out to over a dozen families of equal status, every single one turned him down without hesitation. The harshest rejection came when the other family had their pack leader send a letter so insulting it might as well have been a banishment order. After all, once word got out that he had deliberately tampered with a declaration letter as a joke, no self-respecting family wanted his bloodline anywhere near theirs.Blake officia

"Are your old injuries bothering you?" I asked, feeling anxious.Seeing how worried I was about him, Harrison shook his head and took my hand. His warm pheromones wrapped around me like a blanket."Everything's fine. It's just that after we bonded last night, my wolf fully awakened. So I went to the healers to work out a more aggressive rehabilitation plan for my legs."I used to think it was fine if I never walked again. But now that I have someone I want to protect for the rest of my life, I can't exactly defend my Luna from a wheelchair."So, he was doing this for me. My eyes stung as a massive wave of joy hit me. There was really hope for his legs after all. From then on, I devoted all my energy to Harrison, accompanying him every day to his private territory for grueling rehab sessions. But of course, I wasn't about to let Blake off the hook either. As their "elder", I enthusiastically took it upon myself to organize a lavish engagement party for them, inviting all of Norvey

Sophia's face turned dark with fury. She sat frozen on the carpet, unable to say a single word. Just then, the elevator dinged, and the sound of hurried footsteps was heard."Sophia!"It was Blake.Seemingly anxious, he rushed over and helped Sophia up. Just as he was about to demand an explanation from me like he still had a claim over me, he saw something that made him freeze. His gaze turned dark and dangerous as he stared intensely at my neck.Right there was an incredibly obvious, deep bite mark, the ultimate sign of lifelong possession. It was the bond mark Harrison had left last night.Blake's eyes instantly turned red as the feral wolf inside him was practically trying to claw its way out. In a terrifyingly hoarse voice, he asked, "How could you? You actually let him mark you?"I felt an indescribable wave of satisfaction and contempt. He was jealous and was losing his mind, but I wasn't naive enough to think he actually loved me or regretted losing me.What Blake regr

Since Harrison had exhausted himself by forcing himself to stand despite his nerve damage, the guests were tactful enough not to drag out the celebrations. After the ceremony, I went back with him to his luxury penthouse that overlooked Cantrol Park.As soon as the door opened, the crisp scent of cedar and the icy breath of a winter storm drifted toward me. Although his top-tier pheromones were overwhelmingly dominant, they somehow brought me an indescribable sense of security.Sitting in his wheelchair, Harrison gently helped me take off my veil. The dazzling Norveyport skyline spilled through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, taking the edge off his normally cold and intimidating features. My heart skipped a beat for some reason. I instinctively looked down to avoid his gaze. His low, husky chuckle with an animalistic undertone tickled my ear. "It's late, Mrs. Sterling. It's time to seal our bond."He deftly removed my earrings. My brain completely short-circuited, and I b

The whole place went dead silent. That was basically a vicious personal attack against one of the core members of the elite wolf pack, leaving everyone gasping in shock.Eleanor slowly sat back down in her chair and shut her eyes in pain.I picked up the champagne glass from the table, walked over to Blake in my heels, and unhurriedly splashed the contents right in Blake's arrogant face."Did your heat fry your brain or something?"Golden liquid dripped down his face. He froze where he stood.Looking down at him from my height advantage, I released the aura of the Sterling family's new lady of the house."Did you seriously think the Lane family would hand over their daughter without a full medical evaluation? I've already seen the reports from his top private veterinary team."There's no need for you to meddle in my affairs like some rabid dog."As soon as I said that, the guests put the pieces together and concluded, "Yeah. There's no way a family as old and prestigious as the

The whole venue went eerily quiet. The guests exchanged meaningful glances, while the socialites whispered among themselves. In the VIP section, Eleanor, the former Luna, abruptly stood up, slamming her wolf-bone cane hard against the ground. "How dare you?"Her voice was low and dripping with absolute authority. Every word carried the terrifying pressure of a high-ranking wolf."You blasphemous scoundrel! This is your uncle's bonding ceremony. It has already been a week since the declaration was sent out to the entire alliance. Not only are the guests already here, but the Moon Goddess herself has witnessed everything."Leave immediately. By tomorrow's sunrise, your name will no longer be on the Sterling family's core member registry!"Blake froze, his eyes wide with disbelief. "This is impossible… I was the one who put the wrong name on the declaration. It was just a joke…"That remark dropped like a bomb, immediately causing whispers to spread throughout the entire venue."Di
