Chapter 2:

Somehow today I managed to wake up early. One could say it's because it was my birthday. After cleaning up I went downstairs to meet my parents.

"Ohh look at you. For the first time I don't have to wake you up in the morning." My mother noted as I meet her down stairs already busy in the kitchen.

" There's the birthday girl." Before I knew it I was locked between my father's arms. His strong smell screaming in every direction. The smell of dirt and fresh flowers. My father really loved his garden. Our house is literally covered with plants in every corner, the inside of the house included. I love it too, it's beautiful and refreshing well until it's time to trim the leaves, clean and plant new plants. That's just tiring but somehow worth it.

" Morning dad." I mumbled between his strong arms.

" Now the real birthday gift." He pulled away shoving a small box between my hands.

"Dad you didn't have to." I cried as my eyes brightened staring at the box.

" Well open it." He encouraged and I carefully opened the box sliding my fingers inside. I pull out a beautiful gold necklace embroidered with a crescent gold moon complimented by a glowing cristal charm.

"Dad? Isn't this the pendant mom gave to you?" I carefully studied it in the palm of my hand. Dad always cherished the necklace. He says it's the necklace my mother gave to him when they first met. He always took it every where and says it's his lucky charm. I was shocked to see him give it to me. Or perhaps they bought me the same one? My eyes still widened in surprise.

" Yes it is and I would love for you to have it." My father told me with an unshakeable smile on his face.

" It's your 18th birthday today Kiara…and you can also give it to your mate if you like." She massaged my shoulders softly. The necklace in my hand is beautiful, an amazing gift but I can't help but feel down. " What's wrong honey?" She easily sensed the tension I carried.

" I'm just worried. What if my mate rejects me?" I said the words that felt heavy on my chest.

" Ohh honey. You have nothing to worry about. You're such an amazing and strong woman. Why would your mate want to reject you ?" I freed my self from her grip and took a sit in the table.

" Because I have no wolf mom. Why would they want a wolf less mate?" I sighed heavily thinking of how it would be like if I got rejected today.

" Then if they reject you because of that, it means they don't deserve you." Said my father.

" Then why would the Moon Goddess mate me with someone who doesn't deserve me. That doesn't sound right at all." I responded.

"Maybe. Though it doesn't change the fact that people get rejected by their mates and find better mates after. You just need to enjoy your day and enjoy yourself. Everything will work out fine." My mother gave me a tight hug and I gave in as I try to take in what she told me. I try but I couldn't help but worry. I mean I was always confident before but now, not so much. The gut feeling telling me that I should expect the unexpected.

" Now enough about that." She got up and went to the kitchen. She came back with a plate piled up with pancakes. My stomach immediately announced hunger as she slipped the plate in front of me.

" They look so delicious." I drooled of the stack of pancakes my stomach throbbing for me to take a bite. Chocolate pancakes are my favoured. I could eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. " Taste amazing too." I close my eyes as the taste blossomed in my mouth.

" Well this is just the beginning. You'll have to come back later for the main event. By that I mean the cake." She said winking as she does.

" Tell me you're excited as I am because I can't wait." My father confessed. I didn't blame him, my mother baked the best cakes and would only bake them on special occasion.

" You shouldn't be excited Dan. Your birthday passed two months ago. Let Kiara enjoy her day." She told off my father. He only chuckles also accepting a plate of pancakes.

After eating breakfast I got ready for training. It's my birthday but doesn't mean I should miss training. I arrived and placed my bag in the locker as always. I ran out to the filled and was approached by Mia.

"Hey Kiara." She waved at me.

"Mia." I waved back meeting her in the middle of the field.

"Happy birthday!" With a swift second I was between her arms.

" Thank you." I inhale her rosy scent as she tightens her hands around me. " I didn't know you were already back." I said to her.

" Of cause I'm back. I couldn't miss your special day." She told me.

" Well I'm glad. It was getting quite boring without you around here." I pulled away to get a proper look of her face.

" Yeah? I really missed you." She said.

Mia is my closest friend. We've known each other since we were young. Great childhood memories and still making amazing memories to this day.

" Missed you too. Now you've got to tell me everything about your travels. I mean everything." I demanded and she giggles pushing me playfully.

" Well I'd like to tell you everything but today is your birthday. So enough about me." She said.

" Well okay. You still owe me though and don't think you're getting out of this one." I said to her and both of us laughed.

"So what are you planning on doing today? Any plans?" She investigated. Truly I didn't really have any plans than just spending the day with my parents. After all I didn't think she would be back so soon.

" Uhhm…" That's all that came up as a response. She just rolled her eyes disappointed.

"Why do I have to do everything for you. It's your 18th birthday for crying out loud and you have to go crazy today.  Your mate can not find you all bored!" She scolded.

" I just didn't know what to do. You're the only person who's good with these kind of things, well the only person I trust." I explained to her. She snickers.

" Well nothing to worry about. I'm sure we will come up with something. Plus JJ is throwing a party tonight and we were all invited." She told me.

" A party? I didn't know there was a party." The news were completely shocking to me. No one told me there was a party.

" Jeez Kiara! What kind of a rabbit hole do you live in? I've been only here for a few hours and I already know everything." She rebuked.

" That's because you're such a gossip. Since you were gone I didn't know much of what's going on in this town." I responded.

" Whatever. Still doesn't change the fact you didn't plan anything for your birthday." She sassed me.

" Well I did plan to eat the cake my mother is going to bake for me." I told her.

" Weeell… that seems like a good plan. Your mother bakes the best cakes ever." She smiled though imagining having a slice of it.

"Yeah…" Our conversation is cut short by the arrival of Alpha Matthew.

Soon enough we were with in a fighting stance with our partners.
